Video: Thuggish mob of elderly Nazis attacks AARP with questions about health care
posted at 3:10 pm on August 6, 2009 by Allahpundit
No swastikas in view but that’s probably due to crafty editing. If you believe the new Quinnipiac poll, The One’s approval rating on health care among people 55 and older now stands at a robust 38/52, which is actually a few points higher than his numbers among those aged 35-54. (Among those 35 and under, he’s at 44/48.) Likely explanation: The GOP ‘turfed the sample.
The head of New Hampshire’s Democratic Party is promising “significant push back on these thugs” who disrupt The One’s health-care message, so once we find out who these subversives are (and who sent them), presumably reprisals are on the way. If you recognize any of them, you know what to do.

Oh my! I’ve never seen such a terrifying group of disrespectful, blue haired, right-wing, well dressed, extremists in my life. They’re nothing but a bunch of totally vicious thugs, and, uh, and they’re unruly too!
Thank goodness ObamaCare will soon end their annoying complaining. Then we can get back to building our utopian, socialistic dream world. A Unicorn in every pot, and Skittles in every garage.

We must do better than Bush.
clorensen on August 6, 2009
Not only yes, but hell yes!
Bush’s “compassionate conservatism” was statism lite. He expanded the power of government and spent (9-11 notwithstanding) like crazy. He allowed Ted Kennedy to write the “No Child Left Behind” crap. I voted for him twice because I feared the alternative, but never again will I vote for a progressive Republican. But it’s up to us to support, fund and work for true believers in our constitution and conservative ideals. We can no longer sit on our butts and hope they show up. We can and should cultivate conservative leadership among our own. We may not know how exactly, but if we don’t move toward a goal, we will never reach it.

Like so many, the thunderthigh spokesperson speaks to seniors like they’re either idiots or children. When she finds they are aware enough to tell her to bugger off, she has to pick up her toys and go home. Reminds me a lot of how some treat the elderly in nursing homes (3rd tense), without realizing they do pay their bloody salaries. Make this video go viral, sending it to every person you know over 45. Those 45 today, all have parents that potentially belong to this group.
I’m thinking the spokesperson is on the list for rationed care. Looked terribly unhealthy to me.

Don’t be sad, love! I had to realize my limitations. I am having difficulty with the “social networking” sites. I meant, Hot Air is great…and I have met a lot of good people here…but I am really needing to focus on my young kids and husband more. I get addicted to those things and forget where I am in life, I think. So, for now, I am just posting on HotAir and my tumblr.

She opens with a common logical “we all agree” fallacy that is intended to make dissenters feel stupid (Well, everyone else agrees, so, I must be wrong) as well as to start the conversation off on her terms (deciding how to fix a broken system) rather than first showing that the system actually has problems that need to be fixed.
They demonize $80 billion in insurance company profits without discussing the profit margin. Many insurance companies don’t make any profits off of their premiums. They pay out more in benefits than they take in for premiums. Most of them make their profits off of investments – the insurance premiums just serve as ‘seed capital’ for them to make these large investments.
Finally, it’s very interesting that the lady said at the beginning the point of the meeting was to listen to the members, but, she ends the meeting because she doesn’t want to listen to them. True, they could have waited until the designated Q&A time, but, I doubt that it would have ended much differently.

reshas1 on August 6, 2009 at 3:59 PM
Rush had a very good point today.
He said the Dems have changed the argument from health care reform to attacking regular citizens. He said there is only one reason to change an argument and that is because they are LOSING!
btw, a caller called Rush the “Mobfather”…he loved it.

In the November 2008 election, elderly whites were the demo group that stayed home the most as compared to 2004 election figures. This report came out last month after official data was analyzed.
My heart breaks for these seniors being maligned by the Libs in power, but I can’t help shaking my head and wondering how many of them stayed home in 2008 and how their doing so may have put them in the position they’re in now…not blaming them or putting them…just thinking that a 2012 victory for the GOP is a reality as they’re pissing off this demo group mightily with this healthcare debacle.
And now they’re being categorized as a “mob” by the power-bearers. Don’t think it’s a particularly smart move.

It’s the ad hominem fallacy. Don’t respond to the substance of the argument. Attack the speaker.
From Obama & the Dems we also have the straw man fallacy, “The GOP wants to do nothing.” And the false dilemma fallacy. “Either we do this health care reform or we leave it at the status quo.”
Wethal on August 6, 2009 at 4:03 PM
This is why I never joined AARP. I have considered joining many times but I hate their Liberal politics and refuse to support it.
.
I recently received another invitation to join and on it they announced that they support the health care bill. That was a nail in the coffin of my signing up.
.
Now this meeting demonstrates graphically how screwed up and Leftist they really are. Some alternative elderly organization without their ugly politics should be started.
FactsofLife on August 6, 2009 at 4:04 PM
AARP has been a left leaning organization from the git go. Now their statist facade is finally becoming evident to even their members. They would rather let their seniors face end of life counseling than let market forces take care of health care. There are many free-market solutions to any problems we have in health care and the government could help inspire these with tax credits, but they want to ruin the economy and compromise the health of its citizens and push us toward socialism. JUST SAY NO to Obamacare and the AARP.

This administration is despicable. There’s only one reason they’re pitting citizens against each other like this and it has nothing to do with people’s health, it’s fear…fear of failure. And they will fail. Grownups would gather for debate and compromise and find real solutions to health care issues, like they were elected to do. These toads? Not capable. Well, too bad, folks, because Obama’s numbers are in the tank and the majority of Americans don’t want his health care plan. And if this doesn’t fly (which it won’t) he’s toast. Bye bye Mr.One Term Man!

What the old guy said was true for all of us though. While we have been working and trying to better ourselves, we let our government fester, assuming that it would take care of itself and leave us alone.
Now we are just waking up to the fact that it is indeed trying to take care of itself, to the exclusion and detriment of the citizenry
We have been very poor stewards of this great country that our founding fathers left to us. If we manage to get out of this in one piece I hope this experience is an abject lesson for everyone that you cannot be a bystander when it comes to your government. Or you risk becoming a slave
