Quotes of the day

posted at 10:30 pm on August 5, 2009 by Allahpundit

“At one point, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross sat with his head in his hands while the crowd shouted. He and fellow Democratic Rep. Vic Snyder told audience members at a forum at Arkansas Children’s Hospital that they wouldn’t support a completely government-run, single-payer health insurance plan.

‘But that’s what Obama wants!’ an audience member shouted, leading to more heckling…

‘I’ve said this several times but let me see if I can make it a little more clear,’ Ross said. ‘I don’t represent Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi or President Obama or (House Finance Committee Chairman) Barney Frank. I represent the people of Arkansas and I’m not voting for any bill that forces any one plan on anyone, period.’”

No comment from Madame Botox on William Jefferson (D-LA) getting indicted?

What is the over/under on Jefferson being the recipient of a Medal of Freedom, er, pardon.

Yes she will.

I see so much potential everywhere I go. When I’m at work, and I look out the window across the street, I see dirty kids loitering around ALL DAY. They do nothing. Their parents do nothing.

I’m so tired of seeing people doing nothing for themselves and with their abilities.

But they are what liberalism hath wrought.

I see PURE POTENTIAL everywhere I go. However, there is no one to spur these people to believe in themselves, to believe in their OWN HANDS.

We are given an amazing mind that can process, calculate, and dream up amazing things. We are given hands to build, to create.

We have so many things from which to bear prosperity for ourselves, yet so many of us refuse to even lift a finger.

We need someone to show Americans to believe in themselves, and believe in their own abilities, so we can prosper, and not rely on the scraps of the governmental gentry

Where are the giant puppets? How am I supposed to know how to vote if there aren’t any puppets?

First we have Obambi as The Joker.

Now we have Pelosi as Clayface.

The Batman villains are upon us! Wish we had a real-life Caped Crusader that could put these wackos in Arkham Asylum, where they both belong.

To those who remember watching the Batman T.V. series from the 1960′s – I think an equally appropriate villain role for Obambi is False Face.

AnninCA is an ultra liberal who despises Sarah Palin. Ann is one of thoe women who probably slept\sleeps around a lot with men or women or both. She idolized the Gloria Stienem(sp) of the world, grew up listening to Helen Reddy and was sold the BS that men weren’t needed, that women should be self sufficient etc. She’s probably had a minimum of 3 abortions and therein lies her hatred of Palin. What she was led to believe, that Liberal women were, never came to be and she finds she is bitter (don’t let her non-chalant attituded fool you) whereas a conservative woman like Palin turns out to be just what Liberal women said a woman should be but the differehce is Plain loves God, is unabashedly christian, loves her hot and sexy husband, loves her 5 kids and AnninCA just wants to scream when she sees her…

Ann it’s never too late to change…trust me…we conservative women are very happy…no bitterness for us…

Nancy, now we will be waiting for you to prove that Americans who want answers concerning your spending habits OF THEIR MONEY and health care reform are swastika carrying mobsters financed by right wing extremist groups.

You would think at some point Mr. Hope and Change and his most ethical congress ever are going to have to back up some of this rhetoric with facts instead of the usual liberal way of just repeating the same thing over and over and over until their sheep get the message.

Interesting. I pictured you female.

Maybe that’s because we become more gender-neutral as we age.

AnninCA on August 6, 2009 at 12:27 AM

Trust me on this..

Vic Snyder will exclusively vote in accordance with the shifting political winds and not out of loyalty to Arkansans or Americans for that matter. Depending on how you look at it, this could be good as being met with audience members who seemed to overwhelmingly show their distaste for this particular piece of legislation, let alone the fact that some (most?) of them have realized that members of congress have not taken the time to read the bill in its entirety in the first place, might persuade Vic Snyder to reevaluate any previous opinions about potentially voting “yes” on this bill.

Then again, if the majority of Arkansans support this bill and the affirmation made by Vic Snyder in support of it subsequently and potentially gets him re-elected, he will vote “yes” (and I suppose I can’t fault him for that – everyone wants to keep their job); however, this is making the assumption that Congressman Snyder will even have someone running against him to begin with but that is another issue altogether…

Yes, a man grows older but his soul remains alive
All those tremulous stars still glitter
And I will survive!
Let my heart grow colder and as bitter as a falcon in the dive
There was a dream, a dying ember
There was a dream, I don’t remember
But I will resurrect that dream
Though rivers stream and hills grow steeper
For here in hell where life gets cheaper
Oh, here in hell the blood runs deeper
And when the final duel is near
I’ll lift my spear and fly
Piercing into the sky and higher
And the strong will thrive
Yes, the weak will cower while the fittest will survive
If we wait for the darkest hour
Till we spring alive
Then with claws of fire, we will devour like a falcon in the dive

If people at these townhall meetings see something like that, (an astroturfer carrying a swastika sign at a townhall), how do they respond to it without violence or allowing themselves to be distracted from the real issue?

Updated for clarity.

At minimum, it’s probably a good idea to make sure allegations of astroturfing are caught on video, along with ridicule of the offender. A video interview of the astroturfer may be helpful as well, to try and catch them flubbing their lines while attempting to sound conservative. That way if the state run media edits out all criticism of the astroturfer, which they will of course, at least the record can be corrected elsewhere.

The guy promises to not vote for a bill that forces any one plan on anyone. But that’s their out. Like Obama said in 2007, they start with a public option, but like Medicare it quickly becomes the only game in town as they force out the private insurers. So this guy can say with his straight face that it doesn’t force people into their plan, but it will. Don’t let them get away with this garbage.

And then, we’ll see if this grand experiment survives, really.

I would love to live long enough to see if any real unity emerges.

But maybe that’s the stuff of WWII. Survival.

Right now? I don’t see a hint of unity.

I envision this wheel of fortune thingy. Take your pick on who is more “fishy”…Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Axelrod, Soros,
Alinsky, Frank, Franken, “dead-fish” Emanuel, Mrs. O., CNN,
MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NYT, Gibbs, Matthews, Obermann, all news affliates of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, (check out your local news
stations and newspapers, and to whom they get their revenues and sources, you’ll be shocked.)

LOL!

To: Leftist vermin
From: El Duende

Dear vermin,

As an anti leftist Patriot, with years dedicated to the utter destruction of socialism in all its forms, I implore you all to continue your current Fabianist course of action. Some of us are onto your incrementalism.

Please continue to stifle dissent. Please continue to demonize the American people. Please ignore the multiple public opinion polls showing the unpopularity of your socialist agenda. Please ignore the fact that this nation is a center right nation and your ideology is a guest here. By all means, please force this Marxist takeover of our healthcare on us. Attack, marginalize, attack, ridicule, attack, please step it up.

By doing so you will make visible for the nation what I have always known about you; that you are totalitarian power hungry cowards using an incrementalist strategy, that can’t stand resistance, to destroy us.

Therefore, I will kindly appreciate if you finish de-legitimizing your Fabianist government and ideology so we can take this to the next level. You all have a date with destiny and we wouldn’t want you to miss it.

In the meantime, I appreciate your arrogance, hubris, and sanctimony because it makes my job of impugning and discrediting you easier.

Fuk u and your Fabianist ideology very much,

El Duende.

P.S. After so many years of living through and watching the predations of Marxism in Latin America I was chagrined to find so many of your adherents in the US, but its ok I’m now giddy with anticipation of whats to come. :-)

elduende on August 6, 2009 at 1:16 AM

My personal choice?

Sit back and watch the implosion.

It’s beyond discussion, repair, or any reasonable solution.

It just is going to implode or explode, like other incidents in my own lifetime.

But I personally will not engage in it emotionally, regardless.

It just will be what it will be.

AnninCA on August 6, 2009 at 1:11 AM

typical. You fix it, I’m scared now but I’m just a liberal troll. Help me.

To be fair, one of the signs in the ad did have German SS’s on it. So she has seen the ad and loved it!

Pole-Cat on August 6, 2009 at 1:18 AM

My personal take is to always err on the side of unity. That’s probably the old-style liberal in me.

But in any event, I wish only one thing. People should feel and enjoy this process. It is definitely messy, but I can’t believe it’s any messier than most government structures.

We’re quarreling over such silly stuff, in my mind.

It’s not close to being the same as what’s going on in other parts of the world.

Be good to yourselves and to those you love and hold dear.

Extraordinarily beautiful, at a moment when I need some beauty. Thank you, Loxodonta.

ProfessorMiao on August 6, 2009 at 12:41 AM

You seem to have a beautiful mind, so reflect upon that.

You also have a wonderful way with words, so I wish you would post here more frequently. I have not quite placed you yet on the political spectrum, but even if we disagree about many things, it’s good to read someone expressing an honest opinion and doing it well. More, please. Thank you.

Loxodonta on August 6, 2009 at 1:23 AM

Facts and proof to back up your liberal rhetoric Nancy,
That’s what we need.
Your opinions and unsubstantiated visions mean nothing.

Here is good examples of controlling the message through paid political operatives:

Obama Town Hall Questioners Were Campaign Backers
Updated 7:02 p.m.
By Garance Franke-Ruta
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2009/03/27/obama_town_hall_questioners_we.html?hpid=topnews

The five fully identified questioners called on randomly by the president in the East Room were anything but a diverse lot. They included: a member of the pro-Obama Service Employees International Union, a member of the Democratic National Committee who campaigned for Obama among Hispanics during the primary; a former Democratic candidate for Virginia state delegate who endorsed Obama last fall in an op-ed in the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star; and a Virginia businessman who was a donor to Obama’s campaign in 2008.

These people were pretty well dressed to…somebody get

Obama White House coordinating 527 attacks on GOP?

President Obama’s allies on the left, AFSCME and the labor-backed Americans United for Change, are ramping up with a massive advertising blitz containing the most direct and hard-hitting attack yet on specific GOP leaders, demanding that they get behind the recovery package and stop saying “No.”

White House aides were told in advance what the concept of the ads would be, though they were briefed while the ad was in production, according to a Democrat familiar with the discussions.

I don’t remember hearing Nancy,Boxer, and their liberal sheep complaining about how Obama is controlling the message and the media like a dictator.

You know….like they accused Bush of doing during all of those happy-go-lucky press conferences
inquisitions he had to go through on a weekly basis.

Obama administration co-opting media analysts
posted at 10:10 am on January 28, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Politico warns TV news viewers to take political analysis in the Age of Obama with a five-pound bag of Morton’s Salt.  Barack Obama’s right-hand man, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, holds daily conference calls with three prominent analysts who appear regularly as independent voices in the media’s political coverage.

More message control, more selective silence from the media.

Rahmbo’s Echo Chamber

Filed under: General — Karl @ 6:36 am

The Common Purpose meeting every Tuesday afternoon at the Capitol Hilton brings together the top officials from a range of left-leaning organizations, from labor groups like Change to Win to activists like MoveOn.org, all in support of the White House’s agenda. The group has an overlapping membership with a daily 8:45 a.m. call run by the Center for American Progress’ and Media Matters’ political arms; with the new field-oriented coalition Unity ‘09; and with the groups that allied to back the budget as the Campaign to Rebuild and Renew America Now.

Unlike those other groups, however, the Common Purpose meeting has involved a White House official, communications director Ellen Moran, two sources familiar with the meeting said. It’s aimed, said one, at “providing a way for the White House to manage its relationships with some of these independent groups.”

The examples of White House coordination with the media and special interest groups is endless.

The idiocy and hypocrisy coming from tools like Pelosi and others from the Obama administration complaining about “coordination” just sets a new level of stupidity and cluelessness that seems to be exceeded by the “smart ones” everyday.

But I’m in favor of public option.

AnninCA on August 5, 2009 at 11:06 PM

Hey, I’m in favor of the public option too, but only under these conditions:

1. It has to be completely funded by taxes or premiums paid by the beneficiaries. Absolutely no funding from other sources. It can’t be supplemented by the general fund and there can be no accounting tricks to make it appear to be self-sufficient when in fact, it is not. The people who choose the public option are the only ones responsible for paying for it.

2. It can’t be run at a deficit. It has to be completely self sufficient. If the expenditures exceed the costs, then the beneficiaries will have to be taxed at a higher rate to make up the difference. If they don’t like that, tough. They have their insurance and I have mine. But heh, if the government is so efficient and can really cut costs, that shouldn’t be a problem, should it?

Now, it seems to me that people who favor a public option should not have any problem with those two conditions. After all, that’s what competition is, isn’t it? And it wouldn’t be fair competition if private insurance had to be economically sound but public “insurance” could operate at a deficit or receive revenue from other sources.

I suspect though that proponents of the public option would not agree to those two conditions – or they would tacitly agree with every intention of violating them later. Which would prove that all of that talk about providing competition with private insurance is just a lot of … Hot Air.

Unity? Geez, that’s not old style liberal, that’s new style socialist. Old school liberal is all about the individual. It’s about minimal government and maximum liberty..to succeed OR fail.

I might actually drop my opposition if it was run like the post office. All funding derived from users. But of course even the post office is coming up for general fund support these days because it can’t compete.

1) We don’t enjoy being shoved into socialism or anything remotely resembling it.

Loxodonta on August 6, 2009 at 1:37 AM

I think you have to look at AnninCa as some sort of hybrid.
She is certainly intelligent, although her compass (I hate this word, as in Obama has used it, so often, which sent the Obarfo meter into the purple zone). Yet, she is hell-bent and focused on this government healthcare program. Her personal fixation has sent up red-flags, all the way around.
Why, why, why is this impossible program sooooo personally important to her?? This is what gets me. She’ll only do this
overload of input when the Obamacare is the topic. So, in my mind, she is selfish and unreasonable. Doesn’t care one iota
what amount of monetary damage and burden that will envelope the rest of America.
