Quotes of the day

posted at 10:30 pm on August 5, 2009 by Allahpundit

“At one point, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross sat with his head in his hands while the crowd shouted. He and fellow Democratic Rep. Vic Snyder told audience members at a forum at Arkansas Children’s Hospital that they wouldn’t support a completely government-run, single-payer health insurance plan.

‘But that’s what Obama wants!’ an audience member shouted, leading to more heckling…

‘I’ve said this several times but let me see if I can make it a little more clear,’ Ross said. ‘I don’t represent Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi or President Obama or (House Finance Committee Chairman) Barney Frank. I represent the people of Arkansas and I’m not voting for any bill that forces any one plan on anyone, period.’”

Blue Dogs are a figment of your imaginatioin. They are a pretend group of Democrats who were fabricated to placate Conservatives who were disatisfied with Republicans. They are under the thumb of Barry. Watch what they will do. They will vote with BArry and Rahm.

I can’t see any politician deliberately throwing away their future as a sacrifice.

Nah*…they’ll push to find some kind of weak compromise. Frankly, that could be worse for the country.

AnninCA on August 5, 2009 at 11:12 PM

Blue dog. green dog, red dog There is no such thing. They all are dancing to the tune of Pelosi she says jump they say how high. This idea of conservative blue dog Dems is a joke .Sure some maybe pro life some maybe pro 2 amendment and some may even be for lower taxes. But to call them conservative is a joke. The last halfway conservative Dem was Gov. & Sen. Miller from Ga..But he was a old school Dem.We tend to throw around and label people a conservative with out much thought .

Democrats even canceling non-existant town hall meetings. Things are getting pretty bad when they have to cancel meetings that aren’t even scheduled.

You know it would almost be worth it for people to just say stuff it and hold the Town Halls themselves anyway with or without their representatives form the House and Senate.

I’m prone to agree with you; these Blue Dogs are more of a marketing campaign than anything else, the type of people who would “say one thing in Scranton and another thing in San Francisco”…

What Whoopi said that I got a kick out of was that she was annoyed mostly because she’s figured out Palin IS quite smart.

She disliked the “pretense” of not knowing geography.

I seriously laughed. Whoopi is no dummy. She knows, you don’t get to be governor of Alaska by only being a cutie.

I thought that was rich and on the money.

AnninCA on August 5, 2009 at 11:27 PM

Honestly I get more annoyed with the over the top social issues mantra of some of the Ark GOP (seems to be more in nwa).

battleoflepanto1571 on August 5, 2009 at 10:55 PM

I hear ya. And I’m fond of Beebe too. First Democrat I ever voted for in my life (I’m from up north). He’s a pretty good egg and he got that stupid grocery tax reduced, even if not repealed. We couldn’t get that much out of Huckabee. I find the GOP here tends to be pretty beholden to the churches, but I guess that’s just life in Arkansas. ;o)

I’m hopeful that Wal-Mart and Tyson and some of the others will put the screws to these guys on healthcare, but who knows? I’ve read Lincoln’s SHOP plan, but I’m skeptical. It sounds like just the first step down the slippery slope to me. And S-CHIP is her baby so I don’t know that I trust her on this issue at all. She is already on my list for voting yes on TARP and Porkulus. If the Reps can run a decent candidate against her — a fiscal conservative and not another fish dude (that was Jim Holt, I think) — I’ll vote for him/her. Pryor I think is on record as saying he’s in favor of a single-payer system. Boozman is my rep, so I don’t worry too much about him.

Hey Der Krieger, I’ll vote for ya! ;o)

The beauty of the Obama Plan is that they don’t have to support a single payer plan. All they have to do is vote for whatever BS Obama puts forward. The single payer plan will come soon enough. We heard it from Obama’s own mouth. A vote for any Obama plan is a vote for a government run, single payer plan. PERIOD!

bloggless on August 5, 2009 at 11:36 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see some Moby activity soon. the left just needs one racist or insane sign to latch onto. Some acorn guy just needs to go to these meeting with a damning sign and find the cameras… or yell “kill him” or something like that. The administration has made the claim that these people are just crazies. Now they just need to make that “true.”

I’m thinking all of these desperate accusations that the left is throwing out is just calling more attention to the people who are against this Obamacare. It’s forcing the media to cover them. I think (hope) it may just blow up in their faces.

So Pelosi’s seeing swastikas? Is she seeing them at the same time as the CIA lies to her, or at some different time?

cthulhu on August 5, 2009 at 11:29 PM

Poor Nancy is confused. Her constituents usually communicate with her via furry costumes and giant puppets.

Where are the giant puppets? How am I supposed to know how to vote if there aren’t any puppets?

I’m ready to see America turn herself around. We’ve been drunkenly waltzing towards the edge. It’s time to sober up and make things right. We’ve defeated the Nazis, Imperial Japan, built the strongest and most prosperous nation the world has ever seen, and done so with very little violent political upheaval. We are a unique nation and we will turn it around. I can feel it this time.

I was going to link the site for you but when I looked at it I can’t tell if it is part of a larger plan or just the local group. They had 5000 at the 4/15 rally and 3000 on 7/2. It was hotter then blue blazes. It appears that the individual groups are trying to have bigger combined events, statewide.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
we have already come;
‘Tis our vision that brought us safe thus far
and America will again come home.
