Quotes of the day

“At one point, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross sat with his head in his hands while the crowd shouted. He and fellow Democratic Rep. Vic Snyder told audience members at a forum at Arkansas Children’s Hospital that they wouldn’t support a completely government-run, single-payer health insurance plan.

‘But that’s what Obama wants!’ an audience member shouted, leading to more heckling…

‘I’ve said this several times but let me see if I can make it a little more clear,’ Ross said. ‘I don’t represent Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi or President Obama or (House Finance Committee Chairman) Barney Frank. I represent the people of Arkansas and I’m not voting for any bill that forces any one plan on anyone, period.’”

I love the part of the story where the college kids squeals “but I <strong>like Obama!” and the crowd chants “Get a Job! Get a Job!” Makes me wish I was there.

Which, I will be, at Claire McCaskill’s office on 8/22.

As we ALL should at all dem’s offices on 8/22…make sure y’all be there.

So, in my mind, she is selfish and unreasonable. Doesn’t care one iota
what amount of monetary damage and burden that will envelope the rest of America.

betsyz on August 6, 2009 at 1:37 AM

I don’t think that’s the case. She wants what she wants and she wants it. However when the discussion moves into the nuts and bolts of paying for it, the effect on the deficit, the limitations of government to efficiently deliver that kind of service, in other words when the discussion moves into the realm of adult conversation – well, her eyes glaze over and she emotes and quotes polls and emotes some more, but lacks the ability to partcipate in a meaningful way. A good-heart person methinks, but limited.

You can still hear the echos of the screams of indignation, fear, and outrage as a once free people are completely enslaved in the name of leftist totalitarianism.

Oh they tried to “fight back” but the forces of the left insidiously undermined their democracy until nothing was left. Now they are screwed.

El Duende knows he has distant family living in Caracas. He saw them complain and resist for 10 years but in the past 2 years there’s been an ugly soul crushing sense of acceptance and resignation of their fate by these people. If they want to regain their freedom now they are going ot have to raise arms and go the route of violence. You know what did them in? fear of conflict and a belief that Chavez’s incrementalism would not work. They were wrong and now violence is the only way.

In our country the rubes voted for Obama becasue they though they would get a Black Clinton but what the got was a BLack Chavez.

Obama is our Chavez because as he himself said a few days ago “the stars are aligned” which means he has the means to push his agenda.

I say lets stop him before we have to resort to other means.

elduende on August 6, 2009 at 1:59 AM

I think we will NOT retake congress in 2010, it’s just too big a hill to climb in 1 election and the chips are against us. Remember, 2004 was a “big” republican year, so any “D” senators up for re-election now in 2010 must be really “D”. As for the house, 2 solid “D” cycles have vanquished old R’s and put the R’s out of contention in some seats we used to contest.

BUT…. I think we DO make BIG gains in 2010, just not enough to flip. It’s too big a hill to climb in 1 cycle.

We are 79 seats down in the house; we need 40 “takebacks” to gain control.

We are 20 seats down in the senate; we need 11 “takebacks” (out of 33 elections) to gain control.

My thought is: 2012 will be the BLOODBATH that allows R domination.

The TYPES of Dems elected in the Senate especially in 2012 will be those that were first elected in 2006 — many in really close elections like VA’s Webb, MT’s Tester, MO’s McKaskill, etc. We will take out some first term Dem senators in 2012.

PREDICTION:

2010, GOP gets 30ish reps (still in minority, by 10ish seats) and GOP gets 4-6 senators (some upsets, maybe even reid, but about 45 senators)

2012, GOP gets 35ish reps (assuming economy still sucks — which it will under socialism, with a 25+seat control) and GOP gets 8-10 senators (major win, with around 53-54 senators controlling)

This new crop will have significantly LESS rinos, more marco rubio types…

….and dare I dream…. President Sarah Paln????

Do not imagine for a moment, Senor El Duende, that leadership is a pleasure. On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility. No one believes more firmly than President Barack Obama and all those in his administration that America’s citizens should be free to decide what is best for themselves and what is best for America. He would be only too happy to let them decide these matters for themselves, but sometimes America’s citizens might make the wrong decisions, Senor El Duende, and then where would we be?

That’s a good little Marxist.

Marx also stated:

I. Nothing in society will belong to anyone, either as a personal possession or as capital goods, except the things for which the person has immediate use, for either his needs, his pleasures, or his daily work.

II. Every citizen will be a public man, sustained by, supported by, and occupied at the public expense.

III. Every citizen will make his particular contribution to the activities of the community according to his capacity, his talent and his age; it is on this basis that his duties will be determined, in conformity with the distributive laws.

How well did that work out for the Ruskies?

The party that invented astroturfing as standard operational procedure says that any opposition to their will is being carried out by swastika waving astroturf monsters. The sad thing about this is that, outside of a few conservative blogs, no one in the media will call Pelosi on her laughable bulls—. The inmates are running the asylum.

Django on August 6, 2009 at 4:59 AM

Some people, like Pelosi, are accusing the protesters of bearing swastikas to these gatherings. I’ve even seen a clown or two appear on Morning Joe and say that protesters are burning figures in effigy. And they say it looks like GOP 2008 campaign rallies at which people supposedly called for Obama’s lynching.

I thought these criticisms of GOP rallies had been debunked when Secret Service admitted that they never came across an instance of it. And as for swastikas and burning figures, has anyone seen, read, or heard of actual accounts?

I wouldn’t be too sure… I saw an article two days ago about a special election in Delaware. State Senate. An 80 year old senator had died and his daughter ran for his seat. Their state house, senate and governor are all STRONGLY Democrat. Seat was held by a Dem for 40 years. The daughter out-spent her Republican opponent by more than 2 to 1. The Republican got 60% of the vote while she got around half that.

Anecdotal at best… state election and not national… but I think the extreme leftward tilt of Obama/Pelosi/Reid is getting “regular” Democrats in trouble. How would you like to be one of the BlueDogs that went out on a limb for Cap and Tax only to have it die in the Senate? I just wish the mid-terms were this year.

My rant from another thread this morning. NEED MORE COFFEE!

They have pissed me off beyond belief.

Please, oh please, let somebody show up in this out-of-the-way place to “get in my face”. PLEASE.

Our Democratic Representative won’t even come to this far end of his district. His two offices over here (closest one is 75 miles away) are only staffed a few hours, twice per week. You can’t communicate with him unless you supply all of your personal information up front, just short of your waist size.

He votes the party line. Nothing seems to disuade him from that.

I keep turning myself in to the White House snitch line and then wait for the black helicopter. Nothing yet.

So maybe I can get one of their Obama cultist to come visit me and discuss things. Nah. They wouldn’t take the chance. Too many trees. Too many wild animals. Too many pissed-off old people. At the end of the story…

Though much of the crowd opposed Obama’s plan, there were a few supporters.
“I’m a huge Obama fan,” college student Jacob Kauffman told the crowd, which responded with a smattering of applause and a few chants of “Get a job.”
Kauffman continued, “I was at mad at (Ross and Snyder) for not standing up for stronger health care reform. But after seeing this crowd tonight, I’m pleased with seeing what you have done. I’ve rather have you two overlook my health care plan than any private insurance bureaucrat any day.”

Well…there’s your problem. Maybe I’ve had too many years pass since college, but the sheer stupidity is remarkable, even in this short quote.

#1 “you two overlook my health care plan”… uh, these guys won’t overlook squat once that bill is signed.

#2 “private insurance bureaucrat” *shaking head*

NickelAndDime on August 6, 2009 at 8:24 AM

I heard that the camp is going to be next to the Columbia School of Broadcasting where Obama learned how to read a teleprompter.

By the way, I just wanted to say that I am deeply concerned about AnninCA’s concerns.

This is not an accident, the progressives have been working to ensure that this is the level of education that permeates America for nearly a hundred years now. Yes, you can replace the word progressive with rat ba$tard communist traitors if you want to be honest and accurate.

Why do they act like they don’t need voters?
What do they know that we don’t?

odannyboy on August 6, 2009 at 7:49 AM

Now there’s a thought. As a sitting President Obama will easily raise more money than in ’08. Can we say a Billion $$$? With the ACORN Stimulus Money I don’t think the Democrats will allow a loss in 2012.

Who ever is their opponent needs to know that going in or they’ll get rolled like Republicans. This won’t be an election it will be a battle. We obviously start with a big disadvantage; we have no candidates or Party we trust to do the job.

Hopefully as the anti-DNC wave builds some honest conservatives will catch it.

This woman is a public menace.

With an IQ of 50, corrupt as the day is long and laughingly incompetent, it’s a national tragedy that the drooling idiot Nancy Pelosi is in office and that she can influence our lives.

Democrats suck in every way possible.

NoDonkey on August 6, 2009 at 8:38 AM

Whew. Sent them out to the backyard to wait while I get dressed. They don’t know that the neighborhood bear was through about an hour ago. Hungry, too. /evil grin.

you know, we have had other Speakers, just as corrupt, but could keep their lies straight. i was really proud of them.

Good luck with that!

Ironically, the very gullible and earnest Kauffman who fancies himself a “musician” (I’m quite certain this is his My Space page) penned a song called “Beebe is a thug at Obama rally” about his “shame” that… Obamaton thugs taunt an old man with a sign. (I gather that “Beebe” refers to the Democrat Governor of Arkansas).

So is everybody reporting Nazi Nancy Pelosi to the White House snitch hotline for spreading false stories?
flag@whitehouse.gov

And I wonder if Nancy ever saw these photos from her fellow Democrats?

albill on August 6, 2009 at 9:44 AM

I reported her with the link to the video last night. I mean come on, that statement is so “fishy” I can smell it clear over here in fly over country.

kam582 on August 6, 2009 at 12:22 PM

My email to flag@whitehouse.gov:

I would like to inform you of some ”fishy” statements being made in the healthcare debate.

Nancy Pelosi has stated that concerned and outspoken citizens at townhall meetings were displaying swastikas and other similar symbols (she gave no examples as proof of her claim). Certainly fearmongering statements like that do not do anything to clarify the debate or bring more people into agreement with Cogress’ and the President’s plans for healthcare insurance reform.

By the way, great work on this snitch program, I’ve been thinking it’s long overdue that we add more intrusion of the government into the free speech and political dialog of private citizens. Although it’s odd to me that the Patriot Act was so demonized by the people who would enact a program like this. Kudos.

If we make it to an election cycle, I hope that no one simply votes for a party. We should all share as much info about candidates and try and support whoever has a record of supporting the constitution, states rights and the bill of rights. Also, with a plan to overturn most of the socialist legislation that has/will be passed. In other words, judge the person and not the party rhetoric.
