I can’t overreact to anything. Last I checked, I don’t have control of a single Orion, Carrier, Sub or helo.. However, as I stated earlier, having a “Community organizer” in charge makes me leery of him getting maneuvered into a “fools Mate” by old KGB Putin. The only thing saving us would be that Putin would be laughing his arse off.

I would love for a chance to interview our jugears in chief as to the capabilities of the Akula and it’s weapons systems and the capabilities we have that are public knowledge. EMP would kill at least 50 percent of the country either immediately or over time. We’d be f***cked sideways if that was the case.

You can also forget about worrying about that sorta thing while Obama and the Democrats are in charge.

It wouldn’t take much to prepare for an EMP attack… but congress is sitting on it’s a** in that regard.

I miss the old federalist slogan: Millions for defense, not a penny for tribute. Now it’s ‘Trillions for Stimulus but pennies for defense’.

It would be pretty simple in point. You could take academic measures that would cost a few billion. Sounds like a bit much, but seeing that we’re spending trillions on bailouts and stimuli it wouldn’t be much, and it would actually provide actual shovel ready jobs.

But seeing that we can’t cough up 120 some odd million dollars to fund the F22 production lines… yeah, we’re screwed.

Take off the tinfoil hat and put on your thinking cap. If they were serious about a disabling strike, they could simply unload cargo from a commercial flight at any number of airports. There are no other indications of raised security levels for the Russians.

an airline scenario has a couple of problems

1 it would be a suicide mission which the russkies aren’t real big on

2 if you just stuck a nuke on a plane with an unsuspecting pilot you can’t target very well for a decapiating strike. ..unless you think the airports are located at 1600 pennsylvania ave.. or unless you go say 5 to 10 mts in an airburst

it would take a heck of a torp to catch an akula once it steps on the gas assuming a stern shot.we have some torps in that class but you would have to be real close. it is like the man and ferrarri race

That analogy is wildly inaccurate. Russian subs steaming well off our coast is not a threat in the same manner as you walking through the super market heavily armed.

Oh yeah, never mind, the fact that if they offload their torps, they can carry 40 plus tube launched missiles means they are no threat. What would that be?? no more than 20 megatons total.. If they were low yield tactical, then it’s a mere 200KT or so total.

They are undoubtably in international waters. .. Just like we were in the Gulf of Libyia when Hank Kleeman bagged his mig.

I also caught a news article that the Sovs.. er Russians were doing some surface ship exercises in our backyard.

I’m just glad we have a guy at the helm with experience. .. You know trading mansions for control of a hospital board, community organizing, voting present etc.

The proximity to our coast reduces response time — We probably wouldn’t get a shot off to stop the first salvo if our Los Angeles were right behind them — which they are.
