Audio: Birtherism ripped to shreds by … Glenn Beck?

posted at 6:43 pm on August 4, 2009 by Allahpundit

A surreal bit of audio, not merely because it defies expectations but because his logic for dismissing the Birthers is so … un-Beck-ian. His first point: Even if there’s something to the claims, we should let it go because a serious challenge to The One’s natural-born status could result in civil war. Fair enough, but isn’t Beck “Mr. Constitution”? Known to wear t-shirts that read “Since 1791″? Given to updating certain pamphlets that were influential in the country’s founding? Seems strange that he’s suddenly willing to look the other way at a constitutional requirement for the presidency in the interest of civic order. His second point is odder: By chasing the birth certificate down a rabbit hole, he says, conservatives make it easier for the left to discredit their meritorious political arguments by association. Which is entirely true, but, um, is Glenn Beck really the guy to be lecturing anyone about that? Newsflash: Of the two exceedingly unlikely conspiracy theories we’ve covered on the site this week, it ain’t Birtherism that’s the more far-fetched.

Get a brain. Romeo was on the dual citizen angle for Presidential eligibility and “natural born citizen” status from way back in the campaign, which was more than 6 months ago, genius. The Hawaiian COLB and whether it is fake or not is only a side issue.

Now, go back to sleep. Or go back to writing the same post over and over and over.

How do you figure?

Obama was confirmed as president, and his COLB was released, along with newspaper confirmations of his birth.

On the other hand, the language on the government website was interpretable as malicious, given the right circumstances.

We’ll just ignore the number of Dems, and groups of PUMA’s (former Hillary supporters) that questioned his legitimatcy to hold the office long before anyone else. Buyer’s remorse set in months ago and the Repubs are late to the party, again. But, dang, they’ll be set up as the bullseye for criticism and take the frontal assault for having thought anything so outragious.

Oh, and Charles Johnson needs more meds. Soooo over his little lizard act.

You might try to post your own words, don’t corrupt mine.
This is why I posted what I did, birthers are crazy cutists.
They don’t respect any other opinion, even when it is factual, backed up by official statements.
So if they state it is accurate, you say it was illegal to do so, but if they don’t then you say they are hiding something.
It is accurate, consistent, and has the same information on the more complete form.
They can’t be any clearer talking to adults…I don’t have any other words for simpleton’s.

Other than the fact that The One and His minions might be lying about the origin of birth issue, it is basically irrelevant.

His mother was a natural born citizen, doesn’t matter WHERE he was born. He is a naturalized citizen defacto.

Just like McCain, born in Panama.

Of course, The One was raised more or less outside the country, in Muslim schools and by a Commie-Mom….

Tha’s a whole ‘nother thing.

There’s one issue that Obama set his lawyers out to stop: questions about his eligibility. He “visited” the network heads and shortly thereafter they instructed their anchors, talk show hosts, and all the guests who would appear on their shows to not talk about the eligibility issue and the lawsuits over it. One talk show host (I’m betting Hannity) has given a written report saying he was threatened with losing his job or worse if he brought it up.

If Obama was wanting the “birther” (tee-hee) issue to continue and to show how crazy conservatives are he would have plastered the thing all over. He didn’t. He wanted it OUT of the public eye – except for his media plants and Robert Gibbs who would mock it.

If he wanted it in the public eye why did he post what he claimed was his COLB?

Do you suppose Glenn Beck might look at Lou Dobbs and consider that when he decides what to say? Do you think Michelle Malkin would? She’s a contributor for Fox. We know Roger Ailes told Fox to go easy on Obama. We know that people who were concerned about eligibility were thrown out by call screeners on Hannity, O’Reilly, etc.

I think you guys are reading him wrong. I think he’s sweating bullets right now.

One of the reasons I say that is because I’ve done a lot of reading on how his people have been trying to throw up smoke regarding this Kenyan birth document. The Aussie BC has obvious signs of forgery, including the fact that it was posted on the web a day and a half AFTER Taitz posted the Kenya certificate and the fact that Photoshop elements says it has six different layers of editing. The Kenya document shows no layers of editing.

Hillary Clinton is on her way to Kenya even as we speak.

Hawaii started changing their procedures, regulations, and nomenclature regarding birth records within ONE WEEK of the judge in Kerchner v Obama saying the defense should take time to choose good legal representation because they were gonna need it.

The case of Major Cook is probably going to be a class-action suit so that it will have no issue of standing or irrelevancy, and the Kenya certificate is included in the documentation for that case. Taitz is asking for expedited discovery on that.

Britain – who is royally ticked off with Obama right now because of Afghanistan and the way he’s dissed them since day one – now has the potential capability of telling Orly Taitz whether the Kenya document is authentic.

And even liberals at HuffPo are saying he should come out with it.

Joseph Farah is offering a $10,000 donation to the Hawaii hospital if Obama will release his long-form BC. Hard to say you support the fundraising efforts of a hospital when you won’t even release what you SAY you’ve already released to get them an easy $10,000.

No, I think a lot of people are reading him W-A-Y wrong. The guy is sweating bullets right now. We’re almost there.

right2bright on August 4, 2009 at 7:29 PM

Is that an accusation? I do not consider myself a birther, because I believe that if fully investigated it would ultimately be determined that he was born in Hawaii. However, I recognize the simple legal principle that a valid legitimate vital record only establishes a prima facie case for the facts asserted therein. The fact is not conclusively established, but may be rebutted by other evidence. I think it is the American way to permit these birthers to conduct discovery and present their case. They should be permitted to subpoena Obama’ and his parents’ passport records. They should get their day in court before their case is dismissed. I guess, I’d consider myself an Originalist first (Obama’s not a NBC because he was a dual citizen) and a Vetter+ second. Basically, I’m a provocateur that supports the birthers’ rights but realizes that they are wrong.

Hawaiian COLB and whether it is fake or not is only a side issue.

His main statement from the git-go was the COLB was a fake, he listed the 5 things that were wrong (pixals, no folds, no seal, wrong border,no number)…I challenged him then, and when he finally saw the overwhelming evidence he picked up on Berg’s “unconstitutional” song. I am the one who provided the links to unmask the argument about the COLB not being factual.
My statement was “over 6 months ago”…and he still thinks the COLB is not legal to drive with…as you well know. You were not part of that conversation, you are a birther, you now very little that is relevant.
That puts you and him in the Koo-Koo state.
Now do you want me to post the Honolulu police dept. phone number again, so you can call them and ask them if a COLB is elgible for driving?
Funny how you guys never call and find out the facts…it would be so easy, but then what would you do?

sarainitaly on August 4, 2009 at 8:01 PM

I, for one, wish Beck would investigate this. He seems to have some good people behind them to get information. Why not take a few days and do some research. For someone who talks up our Constitution so much, he is giving this an easy pass. Im guessing because even though he doesnt mind being labeled crazy, he just doesnt want to be “this crazy”.

In the end, the thing that bothers me is how we still dont know who Obama is. So many records lost or sealed. His refusal to talk about them or this birth certificate. He has never said one word regarding this. Not one. Even if he was born here, I believe there is something else that he does not want to get out. It isnt as simple as some want to make out. His mother/father werent some long time residents of Hawaii. They spent considerable time outside the US. Even Obama as a child spent a lot of time in other countries when he was younger.
And I still have yet to hear how his poor family was able to get him into Harvard. I just think as an American, and he as our President, we deserve to know and should know all this information.

It’s not about being crazy or not at all, because the Obama-orchistrated-birtherism-to-make-conservatives-look-bad theory Beck is sounding here is crazier than birtherism itself.

It’s a matter of interests. The right simply sees birtherism as a distraction from the more pressing issues and wants to kill it, no matter if it’s crazy or not or truthful or not.

People like AP who compare 9.11 trutherism to birtherism are engaged in extremely foul practice of moral equivalence – while they know very well that comparing people who blame US goverment in slaughtering 3000 US citizens while clearing Al Qaeda, to people who think some guy was born in Kenya instead of Hawaii, is very very wrong.

Beck is wrong on this issue and almost hypocritical on it as hails the constitution and then says never mind because it might tear the country apart. Another item I disagree with beck is his stance on violence. He states that it took some twenty years for our ancestors to get a grievance to the king and then for George to reject them. He’s right but had they had today’s tech it certainly would have been quicker than that. I’m not willing to give Ogabe the benefit of the doubt because he’s moving at break neck speed to destroy our country. Our founders also envisioned a slow process when it came to legislation but isn’t that out the window as well do to technology.

Then what you want to do is talk to your media which kissed his ass instead of putting him through the paces they’d put anybody else through. And then when you’re done with them, you’ll want to have a word with the brain addled 52% that voted for him without any serious vetting of his background.

Due diligence needs to be done before you hire somebody, not after. Because now he can simply tell you “I won.” And you’ll notice that he’s figured that out.

After the birther “speaker” was aired, I can’t blame everyone from racing as far as way as possible.

Frankly, I could have told you that they were this nuts 2 years ago.

That’s when I first ran into them. On NQ. This movement destroyed that blog.

AnninCA on August 4, 2009 at 9:10 PM

Sure, he has his moments, but dismiss him out of hand at your peril. I admire his self-deprecation and his willingness to play the fool in order to get his message out above the din.

hillbillyjim on August 4, 2009 at 7:49 PM

He’ll tell you right up front that he’s a rodeo clown. And he’s hilarious. But he isn’t stupid and he damned sure ain’t crazy. Unlike some people…

Pablo on August 4, 2009 at 9:14 PM

On NQ. This movement destroyed that blog.

I thought it was the nutbag that writes that site that ruined it.

In Blake’s world, anyone who disagrees with him is an a-hole, and especially a liar if they call him on his own words.

MadisonConservative on August 4, 2009 at 9:32 PM

In my world, people who attack me first, shouldn’t whine when they get attacked back. A lesson you have yet to learn.

1. Blake act tough towards another poster.
2. Poster responds.
3. Blake eventually references homosexuality.
