Video: Michelle makes new friend on “The View”
posted at 12:52 pm on August 3, 2009 by Allahpundit
I think we have to call it a minor disappointment simply because no one cried. The boss clearly went in there with a game plan, though: Knowing that she’d be interrupted at every opportunity, she set out to dominate the conversation, and knowing that Joy would be hostile, she made no pretense that they were just having a friendly chat. The tone is set from the get-go, with MM quizzing her about whether she read the book and Behar looking at Whoopi and smirking ostentatiously. Best part: The groans from the audience when Michelle referred to Hasselbeck as “the friendlier side of the aisle.” How dare she impugn Joy’s scrupulous impartiality.
Most of the questions had to do with whether Bush’s administration wasn’t at least equally corrupt, thereby proving that the bar for Hopenchange is being reset a little bit lower every day. As the boss says, “You know you’ve won the argument when the ladies of the View are reduced to arguing how corrupt they are, and not whether.”

Michele Malkin is my hero. God bless her for getting the disinfectant out on the corruption in the Obama administration. (This video made my day – I consider it a value added plus the Behar and Goldberg looked like busted hookers on a Friday night.)
So the left’s new argument is ‘he’s no worse than Bush’. LOL.
I love it that Alinski’s rules for radicals is now working against the Radical-In-Chief. It’s so tough to be anti-establishment when you are the establishment, eh, lefties? Funny that Behar complains about the war, and the topic ends with MM saying, yeah what about how Obama hasn’t ended them, and is in fact sending more soldiers to Afghanistan. LOL.
I expected Goldberg’s head to start spinning like Linda Blair in “The Exorcist”. Also, she needs better crib sheets, MM shut her down like an old suitcase.

Yes apparently “there’s still trailers in Katrina”…
Where is this lovely place called Katrina? These dumb broads can’t even form coherent sentences because they are foaming at the mouth with BDS.

Outstanding job on not only leading the conversation and keeping it on track but also shutting down the two loudest mouths on that show. Normally I cringe for the guest speaker as she/he is shouted down, this was pure pleasure to watch.

Good job keeping on the offensive in hostile territory. They were clearly on their heels during the entire engagement. The part where the lefty chick plaintively asked what to do with this criticism marked the implicit acceptance of all your arguments. It also illustrated how the Left thinks criticism of their Obama is somehow pointless and irksome.
The Obamaniacs have switched from the offensive to the defensive due to their idols many screw ups, particularly the Gates incident. Their momentum is gone and they will be retreating the rest of the year as the details of ObamaCare trickle out. The next election could be a rout.

……… but in this case, I was glad to make the exception.
Great job Michelle……
…………. and I loved the look on the panel’s face when it was announced that the audience was going to get a copy of the book.
That ugly bag of mostly water and fat sitting to the left of Michelle lied when she said she read some of the book………
…….. Whoppi asking a question about the book given to her by someone who also didn’t read it, priceless.

I’m impressed as usual. Michelle took them on, no problem even though she was outnumbered. The “blame Bush” is really getting old. It was almost like Whoppi and Joy were saying, they are all corrupt…like that is what we should expect and accept. If they ever looked at her website, they’d see the upside down elephant and know that she doesn’t play party politics. Michelle has morales and she is unafraid. She should run for office!

That’s feasible. Only about 25% identify as hard-core liberal and since that’s what this crew in charge come across as more and more, eventually only that core will support them. It’s hard to believe any of their policies will work well enough for anyone outside of that core to switch over to their side.

Definitely the best part was Joy not knowing what the heck MM was talking about.
Now that Bush is gone and “the war is lost,” Joy’s conveniently shoved her head up her… I mean stuck her head in the sand and will be in a self-induce coma for another 3-1/2 years.
Who will she blame in 2012? One guess.
And, BTW, that “conservative blond chick” was very smart letting MM handle the whole thing. Great game plan, Michelle!

LoneStarGal on August 3, 2009 at 9:07 PM
I thought that MM did a great job. I totally understand why she didn’t take the bait re defending Bush.It would have derailed the topic to Bush bashing and become a tit for tat. Defending Bush would end up making her look partisan and therby losing credibility with that ultra liberal and dumb audience. She would not have been able to make her points which she was able to do and very effectively.
CCRWM on August 3, 2009 at 9:08 PM
I see crr6 hasn’t posted anymore “Michelle is the only one that actually believed Obama was for Hope and Change” posts.
Upstater85 on August 3, 2009 at 9:13 PM
I don’t know how Michelle kept her cool from the obvious hatred and sneering of Joy and Whoopie. They didn’t even try to smile or look civil. They fell back on “what else could he do”…? They took away her time so she would be limited on what she could say to dethrone their naked emperor. I thought it was hillarious when they said everyone in the audience would get a copy. I hope Joy and whoopie had to autograph a few….
TheKernel on August 3, 2009 at 9:17 PM
Almost forgot…they need to have a follow up so Michelle could talk about the current day instead of being derailed with Bush..They worked up their Bush bashing so well that they don’t have any new material.
If Palin runs she needs to dish out this type of “in your face” rebuttals to get more credability.
Way to go Michelle!!

jediwebdude on August 3, 2009 at 9:28 PM
Bringing up Katrina is sad. My brother and thousands of others lost their homes because of Hurrican Ivan in the Florida Panhandle, but they never asked the government to take care of them. Like New Orleans, some of the homes are still abandoned and the cleanup goes on although it happened in 2004! (They only recently reopened a park in Pensacola Beach and my brother’s homesite is now just bare ground.) How is it Floridians can somehow cope without blaming the government and people who aren’t even from New Orleans continue to blame Bush for Katrina?!

And yet, the people, who complain the loudest about the “toxic trailers” and work tirelessly to attach it to Bush and his administration, have no problem setting that aside to allow nationalized healthcare. Image “toxic trailers” on a national scale… disturbing.

I won’t be the first to point this out. Once again, in your rush to be a contrarian, you have missed the point.
1. There is a significant amount of corruption, tax evasion, criminality attached to this administration.
2. It is not being broadly reported, by a syncophantic media.
The “everyone does it” argument is the province of 8 year olds caught cheating on tests, and feeble-minded liberals.
I don’t think you’re 8.

Sweet_Thang on August 3, 2009 at 10:12 PM
Marching to the polls: “Yes We Can! A New Era of Hope & Change! We’ve Got Work to Do in DC!”

Apparently, crr6, the hypocrisy on the left is lost on you. And I know it’s always hard for victims to admit they’ve been conned.
Mr_Magoo on August 3, 2009 at 10:13 PM
Wow! Just wow. Michelle did an outstanding job, not just in holding her own, but in actually making the case very effectively. To the point, I noticed, that Whoopi and Joy were actually stopped in their verbal tracks at times with looks of pain on their faces as they realized that what Michelle was saying had great weight and truth underlying it.
You go, Michelle! I might add that Michelle has just won a convert to her ‘style’ of journalism.
KendraWilder on August 3, 2009 at 10:17 PM
This is incestuous mud wrestlin, but I’ll take Michelle because she’s the prettiest. Otherwise, this is why the Republicans are a pathetic excuse for “conservatism.” Until she (Michelle) and others like her transcend party politics, she’s an albeit beautiful waste of space.
Drum on August 3, 2009 at 10:17 PM
What you saw was a brilliant lesson in rhetorical judo. They wanted to tie Michelle down in side debate. She refused to respond; she stepped aside; she agreed when they were depending on her stopping to refute them. “But wasn’t Bush bad?” “Yes, I spoke out against (short list, emphasis on each one, controlling the pacing). But it’s nothing like this.” “It’s not that bad!” “(Michelle starts the list with a convicted felon, emphasizes the point, changes the pace to a fast list, until they can change pace to interfere.)”
Textbooks could be written on this appearance.
Bravissima! Michelle. You’re my hero this week, at least.

Michelle did a wonderful job. When Whoopie and Behar look that uncomfortable you know you’re doing something right. Behar wants to make it all about Bush, because there is no defense for what Obama has done. You judge a president by what they promise and Obama promised a lot. He has failed so thoroughly that he’s making the Clinton Administration in ’92 appear competent.
They keep saying at least Obama isn’t Bush. How so? War in Afghanistan where troops are handcuffed from winning, unchecked spending, and the perpetuation of a secretive executive branch that purges officials who don’t toe the line. Obama isn’t the same as Bush .. he’s all that was bad about the Bush administration on steroids.

Saltysam on August 3, 2009 at 11:03 PM
We are at war. The right has been too polite to deal with things this way, or without enough guts…both apply, methinks.
We have to take the fight to their turf.
We have to know the facts better than they do, which is not all that hard because the facts don’t support leftists or “progressives”, who bring up bad ideas from the past with the meme that “things are different now”. Bullshit, that’s what the last cast of useful idiots said.
The left has a lot of emotion, but not much else. Go into their terrain, deal in facts and information…these people will lose.
The problem is hitting them often enough. The weight of the little engagements where they lose will fix the outcome of this war. This is where the Tea Parties are so important. We organize, we speak, we don’t give up, we kick the Arlen Specter idiots whenever we can.
Dullards like Specter or Sebellius will not change at the core, but presented with enough reasoned opposition, wilkl think twice, perhaps, of doing what they want to do.
Speak up or shut up, kids. It’s time to go, take the fight to those whose lives are so empty they busybody themselves constantly to making you behave…as they think you should. There is a legion of them, and we are behind the power curve.
Dan Henninger wrote a great piece in WSJ about who is serving whom, between government and us. We are at a crossroads. This has been said too many times, but finally may be accurate. Nationalization of healthcare is not a “we endured Carter” event. It is a one-way street that is irreversible. The buck stops here and now, or else.
Harry Schell on August 3, 2009 at 11:10 PM
I don’t know how to express my reaction to this without it sounding like shmoozing!
Michelle is perhaps the most verbally articulate and focused debater I have yet to come across, and she doesn’t resort to a single cheap debate tactic to win her points — rather she uses truth and honesty, while her opposition uses every cheap tactic under the sun. (I can even name the cheap tactics they used, and yes, they have names, but that’s not the point of this comment)
My hat is off to Michelle Malkin. I pride myself in my debating abilities and honesty, but I am completely humbled when I see someone so honorably take on the toughest venues in the media and hold her own.
I can only hope some of the witnesses to Michelle making the case for which she wrote her book appreciate her upright approach to honest debate.
Lastly, giving her book to that audience is doing so much more than singing to the choir on these blogs. The will crack open that book and read some of it. Oh yes, they will.
I admired Michelle before, but after this week, I am in awe. And awe is exactly the right word.
Danzo on August 3, 2009 at 11:16 PM
I have never seen anyone shut down those wenches like Michelle did today. She just kept putting the boot right down their throats in the form of facts, facts, facts. She also was able to steer clear of the only form of argument they know, which is tu quoque, in this case, “Well, Bush, well Bush. . .” She ticked off the names of those she objected to, Meyers, Michael Brown, etc, and they were just shut down. I heard someone muttering “She is objective about . . .” in the background at some point, it was a baritone, so I figure it was Whoopi. They had nothing but their animosity, and it really showed. And I think that a lot of those people will open that book because she did so well. And it doesn’t matter which page they turn to. . . does it? They’re going to get an eyeful.
