Video: Michelle makes new friend on “The View”
posted at 12:52 pm on August 3, 2009 by Allahpundit
I think we have to call it a minor disappointment simply because no one cried. The boss clearly went in there with a game plan, though: Knowing that she’d be interrupted at every opportunity, she set out to dominate the conversation, and knowing that Joy would be hostile, she made no pretense that they were just having a friendly chat. The tone is set from the get-go, with MM quizzing her about whether she read the book and Behar looking at Whoopi and smirking ostentatiously. Best part: The groans from the audience when Michelle referred to Hasselbeck as “the friendlier side of the aisle.” How dare she impugn Joy’s scrupulous impartiality.
Most of the questions had to do with whether Bush’s administration wasn’t at least equally corrupt, thereby proving that the bar for Hopenchange is being reset a little bit lower every day. As the boss says, “You know you’ve won the argument when the ladies of the View are reduced to arguing how corrupt they are, and not whether.”

Good job Michelle. You held your ground.

…gonna watch this in just a sec…
Looking forward to it.
Upstater85 on August 3, 2009 at 12:55 PM
For some reason Michelle kinda rubs me the wrong way when i see her on FoxNews (maybe it’s a “too many R’s” thing?), but I LOVED her today in hostile territory….
she took names and kicked tail!
joy, at one point, looked to the crowd heckler and started talking to her!!!
mission accomplished.
battleoflepanto1571 on August 3, 2009 at 12:56 PM
Could we just get a transcript so we don’t have to listen to those VOICES.
Mojave Mark on August 3, 2009 at 12:57 PM
ONLY REGRET:
not enough time to talk about the corruption of MICHELLE obama.
Whoopi and Sherri’s heads would have exploded from sheer “IVE NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE ABOUT THE WOMAN WHO IS ON ALL OF MY DINNER PLATES????????” syndrome
battleoflepanto1571 on August 3, 2009 at 12:57 PM
Michelle rocks …
tarpon on August 3, 2009 at 12:58 PM
Great job, Boss.
davidk on August 3, 2009 at 12:59 PM
So Malkin’s earth shattering point is that the Obama administration, like every other administration, contains some corruption and nepotism. She also openly admits that Obama’s administration is by no means the most corrupt we have ever seen.
She then proceeds to condemn Obama for hiring a convicted shoplifter. The horror!
The girls on the View didn’t have to dominate the conversation to discredit Malkin. She did a fine job of trivializing her own work by herself.
crr6 on August 3, 2009 at 12:59 PM
Michelle Malkin is one of the best things to happen to conservatism in a long time. It’s too bad most of the audience for that show are Obama-bots. It’s like wasting ammunition on the already dead. Simply pointing out that the left’s only argument is “moral equivilancy” sums it up to a tee.
Keep up the excellent work!!
Thunderstorm129 on August 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM
Expecting Behar to actually read the book is like expecting a cow to explain E=mc²
infidel4life on August 3, 2009 at 1:01 PM
I just want to reassert my strong belief that those who watch The View should not be allowed to vote. (And what the hell is Whoopi wearing? It looks like a sheet with a cut-out for the neck and arms.)
Anyway, well done Michelle!
varnson on August 3, 2009 at 1:02 PM
So crr6 – did you read the book?
Before you ask – yes I did.
BobK on August 3, 2009 at 1:02 PM
Note to self: Never, ever EVER get into an argument with Michelle.
Meryl Yourish on August 3, 2009 at 1:02 PM
Great job, Michelle!! I wanted to reach through my tv and smack that Joy….sitting so close to Michelle, didn’t the look on her face say that she was afraid she might “get some on her”?? LOL…we could only hope!!
MaggieMae on August 3, 2009 at 1:03 PM
Only in your world is a convicted shoplifter a good choice for the job. Eh…but it’s “just shoplifting”. Next it will be “just manslaughter”. You need medicine.
Thunderstorm129 on August 3, 2009 at 1:03 PM
Im so glad I take the time to cut this same video and send it to allah three or four different ways about 45 mins ago only to have him post someone elses cut up of it.
My hard work pays off yet again!
Oh well… maybe my begging will pay off next time.
thecollegepolitico on August 3, 2009 at 1:03 PM
Absolutely. Whoopi introduced the moral equivalency card and my jaw dropped to the floor. She essentially conceded that Obama is corrupt de facto since he is a politician. Amazing admission.
conservative pilgrim on August 3, 2009 at 1:04 PM
Whoopi: What is your alternative?
Why do we have to come up with an alternative? We want our hope and change!
We gave an alternative and he was ridiculed as too old and too white.
Laura in Maryland on August 3, 2009 at 1:04 PM
Don’t normally watch, and can’t watch at work, but I guess the producers deserve some credibility for having her on to hear her views. Even if it was somewhat obligatory.
scalleywag on August 3, 2009 at 1:05 PM
Michelle was awesome. She dominated the table and quieted the liberal loud mouths!
Sherri just reasserted how stupid she is.
jencab on August 3, 2009 at 1:05 PM
So the dopes like you bought Duh Won’s fraudulent promises, voted the bum in, and all they got was hopeless change, oh yeah and a soon to be bankrupted country.

Michelle did a fantastic job. Best I have seen against that crew.

Butcher’s apron. She was going to slaughter a cow (joy?) after the show.

You conveniently skip over the list of others MM named: Tom Daschle, Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, Bill Richardson, the 44 Czars, et. al.
Thank you for playing. Go hide under your rock.
conservative pilgrim on August 3, 2009 at 1:09 PM
I never thought I’d live to see the day that someone stuck a truth sock in Joy Behar’s arrogant, sneering mouth!
Thanks for posting the vid because if you hadn’t, I never would have seen it (not being a View fan, and all).
ginnypub on August 3, 2009 at 1:09 PM
The Boss kicked ass.
And she’s HOTTT as well.
Behar’s jaw agape as Michele trashed BHO and his cronies was priceless.
44Magnum on August 3, 2009 at 1:10 PM
How appropriate for Behar to talk about a puss-filled scar…
Michelle could not have done any better. Behar may not have cried, but she sure squirmed a lot! And this is exactly what most lefties are doing…they’re still stuck on Booosh.
Whenever we would mention Bill Clinton during Bush’s years, the left would cry “B-b-b-but Bush!” and remind us that Clinton was no longer in office. When the shoe’s on the other (left) foot, the blatant hypocrisy clicks in.
JetBoy on August 3, 2009 at 1:11 PM
That is hardly the most egregious example, just the one that she used at that point in time. You not only leave out all of the other people she mentioned, but don’t seem to realize that being a convicted shoplifter will bar you from getting many jobs, in both the public and private sector, but doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Obama administration.
Sir Corky on August 3, 2009 at 1:11 PM
Uh, what the hell was Whoopi wearing?
Pasalubong on August 3, 2009 at 1:11 PM
No amount of corruption in any previous administration, including Bush’s, makes corruption in the current administration acceptable.
Moral relativism is dangerous.
jazz_piano on August 3, 2009 at 1:12 PM
Michelle was just awesome. She totally dominated and did not let them filibuster her.
Very, very well done.

Maybe she’s getting another abortion after the show and just dressed in her hospital gown to get ready for it.
Sir Corky on August 3, 2009 at 1:12 PM
It was great how Hasselbeck hung back and didn’t grab the spotlight and waste time, instead just did intro/wrapup and let her pwn the others in between.
NickelAndDime on August 3, 2009 at 1:12 PM
Probably a protective smock in case Behar decided to throw her coffee.
JetBoy on August 3, 2009 at 1:13 PM
Everyone in the audience gets a free copy of the book? I don’t have any faith that most of them can read a book, much less comprehend one.
Kudos to Michelle for not allowing Whoopi and Joy to turn her appearance into a comedy routine, as they clearly attempted to do.
Lady Texan on August 3, 2009 at 1:13 PM
The ending was the best. It essentially put Hopey-Changey apologist Behar in a bad light…
Paraphrasing:
“Shout out to all the whistle blowers working for Obama that now see the light and have buyer’s remorse.”
Upstater85 on August 3, 2009 at 1:14 PM
Wow! I have never seen a “hostile” guest on the view get to have her say so well as Michelle did in this clip. They didn’t shout her down, they had to let her talk, she kept the conversation going and it was great. Hope she sells gazillion more books as a result. Hey, from this performance, even some lefties might read it. You go, girl.
And the efforts to paint the Bush administration with the same brush is ridiculous! There may have been some croneyism (Harriet Meyers) and there may have been some secretive moves to keep Americans safe, but there was very little of the outright corruption we are seeing from this adminstration.

Oh, snap!
MM took a strong position with the ladies; this is probably the first time that Joy was shut down. Again, the argument wasn’t if his administration is corrupt, but comparing his corruption to Bush’s.
lovedinthekeys on August 3, 2009 at 1:15 PM
Michelle handled all 4 masterfully.
Upstater85 on August 3, 2009 at 1:15 PM
WTF is a moo moo?
Upstater85 on August 3, 2009 at 1:16 PM
Obviously the point is that Obama sold himself as better and more ethical than any administration. He was going to clean up Washington DC!!! Reality is he is the same old, same old. He is a liar.
ctmom on August 3, 2009 at 1:16 PM
[crr6 on August 3, 2009 at 12:59 PM]
Pitifully inept rebuttal. The most important of point of the whole appearance was the of the huge expansion of the unaccountable government within the WH via the czars program. All of these czars are immune from oversight by Congress via executive privilege, something that cabinet level appointments are not.
MoveOn, kiddo, Bush, and all the other presidents, are not the President anymore.

It’s puzzling…I get why Barbara Walters might be asked to host a show, having anchored news and 20-20 before this, but why the rest of them are deemed qualified to host a show is puzzling. Even more puzzling is why they have so many viewers? I’d rather turn on heavy metal in the morning than listen to these people. And I hate heavy metal.

Yes, highering a convicted shoplifter is horrible. It shows contempt and loathing for decent people trying to make a living. It takes money out of the hands and food out of the mouths of people that actually work for a living. You, being a lib, obama supporter, would never understand how terribly wrong it is.
tessa on August 3, 2009 at 1:28 PM
Negative. All we heard was “hope and change,” unlike any campaign I recall. After, “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for” (whatever the hell that was supposed to mean).
At any rate, we’ll see how taxation of middle class healthcare benefits will go over after lying about McCain’s position in removing the anachronistic income tax exclusion for employer-provided healthcare benefits. Yes, McCain would have tried to get the exclusion removed, but he also advocated a generous, and largely offsetting income tax credit. Portability, increased healthcare consciousness, increased competition among insurers, removing healthcare from employment circumstances–all improved with McCain–yet Obama lied about his position.
Phoney baloney.
BuckeyeSam on August 3, 2009 at 1:28 PM
Michelle’s point is that many voted for Obama as “Hope and Change.” The new politics.
But Obama is just more of the same. In fact, Obama and his Chicago cronies have been more corrupt in six months than George W. Bush’s administration was in 8 years.
slp on August 3, 2009 at 1:28 PM
Michelle did a great job. It was good to stay focused on the topic at hand. Too bad that forum and time limitations didn’t give her the opportunity to slam the wmd comments back down Behar’s throat.

Thank goodness for TIVO. I could triple-time forward without having to watch the whole show.
Michelle, considering that group of uninformed yet still snarky sharks, did very well. Even the cue cards they were supplied with were lame and easily rebutted by MM.
Malkin was articulate, on her game, and formidable.
marybel on August 3, 2009 at 1:33 PM
Ok so we all know there’s corruption in DC. It doesn’t matter who it is or how much we are appalled by it, rarely is anything done about it. However, when a politician comes along (or a speaker of the house) and states unequivocally that there will be no more, not in this administration, and then proceeds to appoint a cabinet full of arrogant, elite tax cheats and cronies and liars who cater to special interests, and then orders billions of dollars out the coffers to be given to the special interest groups…THAT’s when people get outraged. It’s the hypocrisy factor that makes it even worse. And what past administrations did is irrelevant to that. They didn’t run a whole campaign for two years based on CHANGE. A$$ clowns.
scalleywag on August 3, 2009 at 1:33 PM
Well, I borrowed AP’s game face and braved to watch the hate speech hen house.
