Donny Deutsch to Palin: If you’re ever single again, call me

posted at 9:35 pm on August 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

Quite douchetastic, although I’m not sure why I feel that way. Is it because he’s directing this at a married woman and “I hope you get divorced” jokes simply aren’t that funny? Is it because he’s the guy who notoriously attributed her popularity to her sex appeal, which makes this feel less like flirtation than an attempt to belittle someone with whom he disagrees politically? Or is it because the dude just exudes A-hole for whatever reason?

Speaking of media flirtations, my very favorite liberal has some relevant thoughts:

I’m no fan of the former governor of Alaska, but as a life-long feminist I can’t ignore the endless stream of sexism directed at her.

Friday on MSNBC, guest host Donny Deutsch asked, “If Palin wasn’t hot, would we be talking about her?” His two female guests — one Republican and one Democrat — were united in their disagreement with this assertion.

But Deutsch was adamant: “The only reason we are so fascinated, the American public has never seen a woman that looks like this in power. That’s where the fascination starts.”

Where was this insightful analysis when the vapid JFK-wannabe John Edwards and his silky hair ended up as the Dems choice for VP in 2004? Or was everyone too dazzled by his completely undistinguished one term as a senator?

In reality, being a “hot” female politician is more likely to result in accusations that you’re a bimbo than public acceptance. If Palin didn’t have other qualities — like charisma and an ability to connect with the average American — she’d never have risen as far as she has.

What other Democrat would toss a gratuitous Silky Pony allusion into a piece on feminism? I ask you. Meanwhile, as if to prove her point, even John Conyers felt obliged to note how “attractive” Palin is while dumping on her in a speech recently. Watch the clip. Rarely has admiration for a woman’s beauty sounded so pejorative.

Blowback

Was that name Donnie Deutsch, or Donnie Douche??

The later I think..

Thanks Cindy. It wasn’t my intent. I meant merely to highlight the stunning irony of KP’s statement, and how she’s patently oblivious to it. Like she is on a lot of subjects.

Rhinoboy on August 3, 2009 at 11:29 PM

And oh, by the way, you can scratch Peggy Noonan off that list. It’s clear that she has changed sides.

UltimateBob on August 3, 2009 at 11:05 PM

Peggy Noonen goes, we get Megan Kelly
And they get Barbara Boxer, we ge Sarah Palin!

macncheez on August 3, 2009 at 11:34 PM

should say get
sorry

macncheez on August 3, 2009 at 11:40 PM

Great article by Kirsten Powers. Lib women & men have vastly detoured the advancement of women by their treatment of Hillary and Sarah Palin in the last election.

I have resigned myself to the fact that there will never be a Prez or even VP representing the majority population gender in my lifetime.

There was no change in 2008.

Well, his comment doesn’t differ from some of the same from the men on this blog.

Yes, what is wrong with some of you men on this blog? It’s almost like you’re normal or something.

So is this the real Donny (Donny? He insults Theodore Donald “Donny” Kerabatsos) or he is doing what he thinks he needs to do to keep his new job on this crappy excuse for a network?

sgtstogie on August 4, 2009 at 1:18 AM

I vote for this reason –

the dude just exudes A-hole for whatever reason?

Ann Coulter was right!

Donny Deutsch NEEDS to be “perfected”.

Question 1. 20%
Question 2. 50%
Question 3. 30%

Palin may not be a smart woman but she is hot. I had a dream about her during last years election but I will spare you the details :)
liberal343 on August 3, 2009 at 10:17 PM

One thing is for sure.. she is a heck of a lot smarter than someone that needs his liberal media to tell him who is smart.

Noelie on August 4, 2009 at 6:31 AM

Donny Deutsch is a typical liberal democrat. Can’t keep it in his pants no matter what. Just like Bill Clinton, Donny Deutsch would drop his pants for a “looker” no matter who she is. The word Scumbag comes to mind.

afotia on August 4, 2009 at 7:08 AM

What a disgusting display. Speaking of dating a married woman.
The entire group is reprehensible.

Jeff from WI on August 4, 2009 at 7:21 AM

Hey Donny i think your type is more in line with Roseann Barr .What a scum bag like all the other find talent at MSNBC.

thmcbb on August 4, 2009 at 7:37 AM

What makes this putz think she’d be interested in him.Her present husband works two jobs, races snow mobiles, hunts, fishes, flies a plane, acts like a man.

He’s a liberal (laughing) man?

Jeff from WI on August 4, 2009 at 8:14 AM

Liberal women must be such nondescriminating sluts that this guy actually thinks he is a stud. Someone should clue donnie (by the way, how old are you donnie) into the fact that without his money he would have been joey buttafucos wingman.

Because the dude exudes A-hole is the right answer. The dude exudes A-hole because the dude is an A-hole.Problem solved.
As a conservative male I am offended when I hear intellegent, acccomplished women referred to as “Hot”.Beautiful-yes.Sexy-yes.Hot-no.The use of the word is first of all juvenile, but more importantly it is degrading to any woman who is not relying on her sexuality to advance herself in some way.
Unfortunately, our culture has decended to the point where women are judged more on their willingness to have indiscrminate sex with numerous partners, than on their intellegence, prinicples,or abilities.
Jacka$$ liberal men(?)like Lettermam,Deutch,Maher etc.can’t deal with truly assertive, successful women,so they have to denigrate and objectify them,by using a vulgar term to make vulgar references,to and about women who deserve nothing less than respect for their intelligence, ability, and work-ethic.
SP,MM,AC,AKH,KP and others did not achieve their success through sex, they did through hard work and intelligence.Of course liberals can’t grasp that concept, because they have no work ethic, and can only see others through the prism of their own lack of priciples.

DDT on August 4, 2009 at 9:37 AM

You show me the woman that would be interested in a jerk like
“Donny”and I’ll show you a woman not worth knowing.

Jeff from WI on August 4, 2009 at 9:55 AM

Besides his smooth talkin’ ways, Donny love to impress the ladies on a date with:
An autographed picture of him instead of flowers.
Picking his date up in his super cool 74 Ford Torino 4 door.
A fancy dinner at the Sizzler.
Having her pick up half the check.
Entertainment at a local strip club.
Drinks in his car with a 6 pack of Old Milwaukee
Dropping her off at home by slowing down in front of the house.

Jeff from WI on August 4, 2009 at 10:02 AM

Jerks like little ‘Donny’ and frat boy grown old Dave really do have some disturbing issues running around in their heads–but, Sarah just gets stronger. You can hear it in her speeches and her remarks to the media. She’s developing a formidable sense of self and the most these guys can ever do is make it stronger. Go Sarah!

Thank you. I never thought that men didn’t think stuff. But saying it over and over out loud is really nothing but a form of harassment. It just defeats women, too. I worry about the number who may well give up and focus on clothes, diet, hair and not try to buck the messages coming in that they are kidding themselves if they think anyone will really value their minds, hard work, or contribution in other ways.

AnninCA on August 4, 2009 at 10:33 AM

Yes, what is wrong with some of you men on this blog? It’s almost like you’re normal or something.

I’m fortunate. My normal men in my life think whatever they think, but they talk respectfully. A compliment is nice. Constant reference to her appearance? That’s just unnecessary and boorish.

AnninCA on August 4, 2009 at 10:35 AM

Donnie, Sarah Palin has better things to do than to be your beard.

Anyway, she has three small children, so I am sure like any prudent person, she would not want to expose them to liberals like Donnie or David Letterman.

ChrisB on August 4, 2009 at 12:00 PM

LOL, what a schmeckle head.

AprilOrit on August 4, 2009 at 12:50 PM

Danny-first you’re gross, second -you’re not smart, athletic or funny(like Todd). So keep dreaming, like most liberals who have a warped view of woman especially smart, funny and pretty women.

Srry- I don’t even know his real name- Donny, not Danny, like it matters.

Frances on August 4, 2009 at 1:08 PM

Thank you! While I do think you’re spot on, I have a slight grumble: to place emphasis on liberals as being the main party to sexism/objectification is making the topic unduly partisan. Yes, Sarah Palin has been target #1 of vicious comments from the Left — but I’ve also witnessed women, such as Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama and Meghan McCain, be shredded apart mercilessly for their looks by the Right.

Objectification doesn’t just apply when people are reduced to little more than a vision of ‘beauty’ — it is generally applied when someone is incessantly judged on their physicality with secondary (or no) regard to their ideas. Even though objectification isn’t exclusive to women, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen discussion over whether conservative women are “hotter” than liberals or vice versa (depending on which partisan site I’m reading). Who cares! It’s intellectually lazy and schoolyard immaturity for any of us to go this route. But yes, I do understand why emotional responses are common in politics since it is so often PLAYED as blood sport as opposed to a meaningful argument of ideas. Perhaps it’s not as fun to keep things on the issues rather than insults or wolf-whistles, but it certainly detracts from substantive debate that, you know, might actually succeed in doing something positive for the country and the condition of her government.

All of that said, there is nothing wrong with appreciating the inherent beauty of a person whether it be for their physical body or any other aspect of them that strikes our fancy; we’re humans with emotional desires, after all. My issue is simply with those who often FOCUS on physicality and feel compelled to share it with everyone else.

EarthToZoey on August 4, 2009 at 1:56 PM

Charisma, Beauty they’re all part of the same package aren’t they? It’s a human thing to judge people favorably based on it as much as we deny it. It’s why you can sort of predict who will go far on American Idol from the very beginning.

You can see it in ‘Survivor’ by the contestants people are threatened by. Some people just have the ‘package’, not necessarily the most gifted overall but a good balance of looks, charisma and talent. Palin was given an edge by her looks and so was Obama. Kirsten is possibly alluding to the fact that Palin and John Edwards tend towards the ‘bimbo’ end of the spectrum. But for whatever reason Obama does not.

The joke on late night was that Mitt Romney, whilst having the ‘look’ to be President was also laughable cuz he looked like he was from central casting – “the President you see casted in every bad movie”.

When it’s not about issues, Politics for most people is just like American Idol. Sad but true
