The government language was scary, AND over-reaching. Even if it was for car-dealers and not “averag joe”. Unless, of course, “average-joe” turns out to be a car dealer.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but, um, car dealers are Americans too. And I don’t care what small amount of the population you are, but if you take advantage of a government program handing out free money, that should not mean that the government now owns you.

It doesn’t matter if the government intended to use it that way. The populace in general will rally behind any pro-privacy cause, for the most part. Since the majority of couch-sitting, American Idol-watching, “moderates” aka Do-not-know repliers on surveys, would believe that it’s a govenment plot, it’s a useful tool to use against the administration. When we can get away with it, and not look like Truthers, we should be insisting that it is a government plot. Just because the left uses lies, doesn’t mean that we should abstain from them. The majority of Americans are too stupid to be trusted with the truth. Want proof? Last November. The Left understands this. Why don’t we?

The cash for clunkers is a 130 page document. Cars are usually sold using a 1 page document. Are these 130 pages blank? Why should this “deal” be biased to purchase of new cars only?

Privacy statements are drafted by lawyers who understand every word that goes into them. This is not by accident. Lawyers are not paid to allow easy accidents. They are paid to reduce risk through the use of contractual language. By accepting the privacy statement, you accept the contract. Lawyers understand this!

For you to claim otherwise is sheer idiocy.

Never trust the Government… especially when they come right our and state their intentions!

(Keep in mind its also a bunch of lawyers in Congress right now that draft bills to be voted on for laws. But I guess you don’t really believe the language there either!)

Heard on Fox N’ Depends this AM – clunker cars sold=750,000. I don’t know if that figure is correct, but if it is, then, 750,000cars X $4,500@ = $3,375,000,000. Or over 3X more money than in the fund = a lot of dealers being stiffed for a lot of money. Also in same report, most cars bought were Hyundais and Kias.

Did the language accurately reflect what the feds were actually doing or was it just a case of a moronic government lawyer trying to cover his legal bases by drafting the language overbroadly?

As one who lost absolutely everything due in part to the feds and my own trusting naivete, I now always assume the worst when it comes to government.

So in this case, what do you think is the more wiser, prudent action: assume the worst, or say, “Nah, they’d never do that, would they?”

It is creepy.. no matter what AP asserts. At what point does it stop being a mistake of some government lawyer, and becomes what we all fear? How far down the road is that. You can’t base the past of relative freedom, to assume you will have it always in the future. That is the POINT of being a conservative.
