However, I did see some fact-checking:

Larry Katz, the Harvard labor economist and Clinton administration economist Malkin pointed to with such enthusiasm, apparently disagrees with Malkin. If fact, shortly before Malkin was on ABC, the New York Times reported that Katz believes additional unemployment benefits offers necessary assistance to struggling families and can even add quick fiscal stimulus to the economy.

In other words, Malkin’s source, who she cited repeatedly, seems to think Malkin’s wrong.

I can’t speak for the others, but for me there might be a couple of therapeutic reasons. Years ago I went to college in Northern California and was surrounded by moronic liberals spewing their nonsense and congratulating themselves for same. I didn’t argue at the time because I knew I wasn’t as articulate and was mostly just interested in drinking beer and dating. Presently my job exposes me to people who are the victims of their own poor judgement, but I’m not allowed to point out the root cause of their problems.
I doubt the best reasoning will get the ckoebers of the world to put the Kool-aid down, but it does me good to vent instead of swallow disagreement yet again.

And frankly, in this day and age I doubt he has never been exposed to conservative ideas. And he has probably never looked either.

As for MM, I do think she can and has done better. My guess, is that Michelle is relatively new to the face-to-face panel. I think she’s more used to joining via satellite link. Don’t worry, she’ll get comfortable quickly and hold her own against these condescending elitist smart-alecks.

Alas, I believe you are smart enough to see that the majority of situations are far from ideal and thus the single-mother cannot do all of the things you just mentioned as your solution.

If these young girls knew that they would have to be solely responsible for the results of their actions, a great number would most likely reconsider the wisdom of said actions and more would see motherhood as a life-long obligation rather than a means to “get by”.

I’m so glad I wasn’t participating in this inane troll beatdown as it took place. My tolerance for stupidity was extremely low this evening and I woulda punched the screen every time I saw one of ckoeber’s moronic diatribes.
Every element of ckoeber’s arguments was built upon the premise that the choice to be a “single mother” was instead the result of some inhumane punishment inflicted upon them against their will. From there it naturally followed that the babydaddy would unavoidably be imprisoned because that’s just what society does to the inner-city black man. At that point it would then fall on society’s shoulders to raise the children and make sure they did their homework and teach them about nutrition and instill in them a sense of morality and purpose. ckoeber liked to begin his argument at this point in the cycle, with the failure of prevalent white society to substitute for the role of responsible parents. He never wanted to touch on the possibility of young men and women not engaging in irresponsible behavior and waiting to start families until they were in a position as adults to support themselves AND their children.
The very fact that the term, “babydaddy,” has become acceptable in the urban culture is the embodiment of the self-inflicted problem. It minimizes the importance of the parental role and attempts to validate the illegitimate role of the unmarried father with a ‘title.’
Sorry, buddy. I won’t own the intentional irresponsible and self-destructive behavior of others.
And only once those elements experiencing the problems begin to own the responsibility of their actions will they begin to enjoy the opportunities and liberties enjoyed by those from their communities who do.
So, ckoeber, feel free to place the blame elsewhere. But stop regurgitating the same victimhood mantra.

The USSR has come and gone; the Soviet rule of East Berlin has come and gone; anyone with the stomach to do so can poke through the rubble of post-Communist Russia and Germany, read released segments of KGB and STASI archives, talk to people who lived in that world and hear what their wretched lives were like: see their 3-room walkup apartments and look at their 2-cylinder cars and their plastic shoes and clothing, and learn about their medical and dental care and their diet and the grim, grey, grimy world they inhabited.

For a half-century of Cold War, we in the U.S. taxed ourselves trillions of dollars for defense, and accepted tens of thousands of our people killed and injured, in a war that eventually freed the Berliners, among others, from Communism.

But BY GOD I’d love to see the Lefties’ beloved Communism re-instituted! I’d love to see it shoved up ckoeber’s and the other Lefties ALL the way to the hilt — and broken off. I’d love to see every Leftie like ckoeber who swoons at the glories of Socialism compelled to LIVE under it for two centuries, since most of one century evidently wasn’t long enough to give some people a clue.

Stick it in slowly and covertly, Obama-Socialist-fashion, if necessary. Or stick it in openly and briskly, euro-Socialist style, if possible. Whatever the tactics, I say GIVE people like ckoeber the Socialism they so deeply crave. I’ll leave the world a smiling, happy man if I can see that justice done.
