Video: Michelle talks health care, the economy, and Gatesgate on “This Week”

The boss just posted her round-up of the morning’s events (“civil, if slightly strained”) so read that for a recap. Kudos to Stephanopoulos for having her on despite the predictable screeching from the left and for giving her a rare shot at a roundtable discussion. In three years of watching her on Fox, I can’t remember a single case of that happening.
The first clip is the roundtable, the second is the slightly awkward greenroom discussion about Gatesgate afterward. Click the images to watch. If you can’t devote 20 minutes to the first, skip ahead to the last four minutes for the exchange about racial politics and “teachable moments.” Incidentally, shortly before this aired, TurboTax Tim dropped by the set to tell Steph that The One might just have to break his promise and raise taxes on the middle class after all. Surprise.

When the USSR fell, and Russians and ex-Soviets started coming over here, they used to take pictures of themselves in front of meat counters, in the supermarkets, and send them home.

I’m so glad I wasn’t participating in this inane troll beatdown as it took place. My tolerance for stupidity was extremely low this evening and I woulda punched the screen every time I saw one of ckoeber’s moronic diatribes.
Every element of ckoeber’s arguments was built upon the premise that the choice to be a “single mother” was instead the result of some inhumane punishment inflicted upon them against their will. From there it naturally followed that the babydaddy would unavoidably be imprisoned because that’s just what society does to the inner-city black man. At that point it would then fall on society’s shoulders to raise the children and make sure they did their homework and teach them about nutrition and instill in them a sense of morality and purpose. ckoeber liked to begin his argument at this point in the cycle, with the failure of prevalent white society to substitute for the role of responsible parents. He never wanted to touch on the possibility of young men and women not engaging in irresponsible behavior and waiting to start families until they were in a position as adults to support themselves AND their children.
The very fact that the term, “babydaddy,” has become acceptable in the urban culture is the embodiment of the self-inflicted problem. It minimizes the importance of the parental role and attempts to validate the illegitimate role of the unmarried father with a ‘title.’
Sorry, buddy. I won’t own the intentional irresponsible and self-destructive behavior of others.
And only once those elements experiencing the problems begin to own the responsibility of their actions will they begin to enjoy the opportunities and liberties enjoyed by those from their communities who do.
So, ckoeber, feel free to place the blame elsewhere. But stop regurgitating the same victimhood mantra.

So, whaddaya say we stop incentivising irresponsible pregnancies?
If these young girls knew that they would have to be solely responsible for the results of their actions, a great number would most likely reconsider the wisdom of said actions and more would see motherhood as a life-long obligation rather than a means to “get by”.
Thank LBJ. Great Society my ass.

Why are you guys trying to correct ckoeber? If he doesn’t understand, he never will; probably because he doesn’t want to: it’s easier to blame the world for your own troubles than admit you have to work hard and wisely to succeed.
And frankly, in this day and age I doubt he has never been exposed to conservative ideas. And he has probably never looked either.
As for MM, I do think she can and has done better. My guess, is that Michelle is relatively new to the face-to-face panel. I think she’s more used to joining via satellite link. Don’t worry, she’ll get comfortable quickly and hold her own against these condescending elitist smart-alecks.

I can’t speak for the others, but for me there might be a couple of therapeutic reasons. Years ago I went to college in Northern California and was surrounded by moronic liberals spewing their nonsense and congratulating themselves for same. I didn’t argue at the time because I knew I wasn’t as articulate and was mostly just interested in drinking beer and dating. Presently my job exposes me to people who are the victims of their own poor judgement, but I’m not allowed to point out the root cause of their problems.
I doubt the best reasoning will get the ckoebers of the world to put the Kool-aid down, but it does me good to vent instead of swallow disagreement yet again.

After reading some of the thoughts of this ckoeber person, one gets physically ill at the illogical thought processes. They seem like the regurgitated spew of some liberal humanities professor. It’s NEVER the Black communities fault. It all goes back to slavery.
This type of person will always find an excuse for the bad lifestyle decisions, the criminality, the laziness of a people and those shining examples of people growing up successful in that community are unwanted reminders that the liberal world of excuses make no sense at all.

Its all fine and dandy if we dislike Obama. We didnt vote for him. What about the people who DID vote for him? How are they feeling now. What do you want another election with the same outcome? Find out what those who put him there think.

“New HIV virus leaps from gorillas to man” Headline
Didn’t even require a toilet seat. This strain requires a willing suspension of disbelief to grasp while swinging through the jungle of Gore-inspired fiction as science. Not to worry. Obama’s administration manufactured this. It’s for your own good to believe The One.
Maybe the story’s testing how well the public situates the “leap” inside their mind relative to personal behavior given all the Sex Education to date: how one contracts STDs. One small step in the jungle; one giant leap for HIV.
Subliminal drive to antagonize the human mind against gorillas? Any distraction to drive the ignorant masses to beg for government intervention, as if ObamaCare will save us by killing King Kong. Obama on Safari./
Just in time to distract us from the swine flu pandemic that isn’t.

Boy George still kissing Obama’s ass. Defending him throughout the whole roundtable like a good little socialist he is.

Ouch, that’s pretty damning stuff. Looks like SWAT is going to earn it’s place on the role call right behind the Gestpo, KGB and STASI.

Sorry, I couldn’t get through the whole clip. I used to watch these fatuous asses years ago, but I have zero tolerance for them now. Kudos to Michelle for venturing into this toothless lion’s den, but I just don’t need to subject myself to this crap anymore.

That’s the point,those people DON’T think.

For a strong example of Alternate Universes, check out the Michelle Malkin thread over on HuffPo. The commenters do not like her. Check it out to get your blood pressure going….Really Nasty……
adamsmith on August 3, 2009 at 10:15 AM
What the hell did she mean by “optics”? If you’re going to represent yourself as speaking for the common people, at least use terms everyone understands.

As someone who regularly visits lefty blogs, I havent seen any “screeching” about the fact that Malkin was on the show. I’ve seen some comments about how this is another bit of proof that the “liberal media” thing is a myth, but that’s about it.
However, I did see some fact-checking:
Sorry if facts are too shrill for you.

It’s okay to watch the clip. Michelle keeps em shut up. Great stuff.

Katz, in the NYT, somewhat withdraws his arguements made in the study MM cited. Did he change his mind or his politics?
