Video: Birthers vs. “moderates”
posted at 11:29 am on August 2, 2009 by Allahpundit
Something light for Sunday morning touching on a point Ace made in the comments to his Birther thread yesterday. Not everything that hurts Obama is ipso facto “conservative” — or is it?
This is again what I object to:
Step 1: Decide what would be best, if true, for conservatives or a specific conservative like Sarah Palin.
Step 2: Claim enthusiastically that that MUST be true simply because it would be HELPFUL were it true.
Step 3: Attack those who doubt that this helpful thing is true by accusing them of being insufficently conservative and/or deliberately attempting to sabotage “the team.”
Look, this is f***ing bullsh*t. Things are either true or they are not true. I am tired of this attitude that our every waking thought and utterance must be directed to advancing the Conservatively Correct Message of the Day.
This is not a frigging David Axelrod astroturfing organization. We are allowed to have thoughts which are “unhelpful.’
Best line from the clip: The one about Mitt Romney. Or maybe the “militia” line. I can’t decide. Mild content warning.

Yeah, we’re all Obamabots, working for Michelle Malkin. Yes, that Michelle Malkin.
Pablo on August 2, 2009 at 11:34 PM
Eric Cantor is doing a pretty good job of that. And you’ll notice that he isn’t wasting his time on this BC nonsense.
Pablo on August 2, 2009 at 11:36 PM
point of order — dr. fukino was appointed by a gop govnr. however, i doubt her personal party affiliation is such; tho i have not seen specific statements about it one way or the other …
Buckaroo on August 2, 2009 at 11:48 PM
Her statement could be perfectly accurate and still be very misleading. If Obama’s original LFBC is not signed by a doctor or midwife then he likely wasn’t born in Hawaii.
You keep ignoring the fact that you don’t actually have to have been born in Hawaii to be issued an Hawaiian BC. Also Hawaii issued birth certificates on the mother’s say so.
Dunham could have had the certifcate issued after returning from Kenya.
Of course Obama could clear this up by releasing the LFBC. Sensible people are requesting that he do so.
It’s not clear why so many non Democrats are afraid to demand that he do so. They must think the media is all powerful and will crucify them for doubting Obama’s word on his eligiblility. The issue seems to be beyond the comprehension of Pablo as he keeps repeating the same invalid points.

working constructively towards getting documents released that remain under seal for no good reason is where we need to focus …

Luka on August 2, 2009 at 11:58 PM
I did not smear him. I merely told the truth. I will tell the same truth about every obfusker who uses the idiotic term birther. We need to get them to shut up if we are going to create enough momentum to force Obama to release the LFBC.
Basilsbest on August 3, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Hogwash. Trying to inform voters that Obama likes to pal around with folks that hate this country and everything it stands for isn’t a non-issue, though guys like you tried your best to make it so. As a result, the bulk of the voting public never learned about his relationship to Ayers OR Rev. Wright, for that matter. And as a result, we have a guy in the White House trying to accomplish the very things he learned while palling around with a couple of “non-issue” guys.
xblade on August 3, 2009 at 12:01 AM
Buckaroo, they’re under seal because all BC’s are under seal. There’s nothing unique about Obama’s and there is no proactive effort on his part to seal them.
Pablo on August 3, 2009 at 12:02 AM
but there has been an active effort on his part to NOT allow the public to see it …
Buckaroo on August 3, 2009 at 12:03 AM
No, you’re full of crap and I proved that here.
Pablo on August 3, 2009 at 12:07 AM
Active by failing to act? No, that’s passive.
Pablo on August 3, 2009 at 12:08 AM
Buckaroo, he’s insulting your intelligence, while grasping at straws. Obama could unseal his LFBC tomorrow.

I don’t have time to go through the thread. So your an independent who is opposed to Obama but who is concerned the Republicans will look bad if they demand to see qualifying documentation?

ms. orly better get the authenticity [or lack thereof] established extremely quickly, otherwise her cases may suffer setbacks from which they might not be able to recover …
Buckaroo on August 3, 2009 at 1:14 AM
Wow. When I read the posts at Free Republic, they’ve done a lot of factual research – very in-depth, about the “Republic of Kenya” aspect of this. The timing fits well with the suggestion that this was one of the documents from the Dunham-Obama divorce in 1964, which could be where the person who gave it to Orly got it from.
People can say what they will about Freepers, but I’ve found them to be very engaged with the actual facts of the subjects they address. A lot of people there have access to information I can’t find elsewhere. Genuine debate and research. That will never be an embarrassment to a group professing to care about truth.
We’ll see what shows up this week. Somebody over there said that Farah of WND had said something big was going to come out this week.
I wonder what Orly’s doing in England in the next couple days… The Brits aren’t exactly thrilled with Obama regarding Afghanistan. Somebody suggested that maybe somebody over there would be willing to verify the records for Orly.
Interesting times.

The documentors want to see the original documents.
The barely and badly informed anti-birthers, like Pablo, want to continue to muddy the waters, and besmirch the documentors who call for transparency on the issue.
Fact is, no amount of ‘blue on blue’ disrespect slung at the documentors will force the BHO genie back in the bottle. There will always be those (33% +or-) who believe that BHO is not a “Natural Born American”, whatever their political associations. And by BHO’s ongoing failure to release his original Birth Certificate, he facilitates those who challenge the “Natural Born American”, assumption, as well as his standing to be Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces.
I suspect, based on his demonstrated anti-USA leadership style thus far, that BHO intends to utilize this BC issue to continue to divide the American people. Not surprising since that is exactly what his advisors like Wright, Ayres, Farrakhan, Khalidi et al, have instructed him to do for over 20 years.
Now, the honest point of discussion clearly is: Are we, as Republicans and Conservatives, at this time, empowered enough, to win this “Un-Natural Born” battle against BHO and his Democrat controlled government and his government controlled media?
I don’t think so.
So what’s the alternative plan?
Continue to hit him where he is more vulnerable, economy, healthcare, global warming(cap&trade), and just about everything else the Democrats over reach for. Maybe it is a better strategy to let his self-soiled pedigree fester in its dank hiding place. At least until enough Americans remove their rose-colored glasses – and the loyal opposition has restored itsef enough, to offer the American people a better alternative for of governance.

Well, if I were Obama (ugh, what a thought), I certainly would not release it with all this noise. I would wait patiently until the hoopla reached the highest point possible and then release it.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if, at the root of the “birthers”, you find Axelrod operatives…. just an extension of Astr-turfing.

CapedConservative on August 3, 2009 at 7:37 AM
Whether Obama was born in Hawaii or Kenya, the documentation would be the same. A Kenyan birth certificate would be the only thing capable of saying anything otherwise (good luck with that).
This assumes that the premise is true, of course. I don’t believe it is. Sun Yat Sen and Chiang Kai-Shek do not valid examples make.
So they are similar and you’re throwing out a red herring.
I believe you are confused. Ad hominem is a personal attack. I’m merely comparing the conspiracies. Thus far, I’ve tried to avoid using the terms “birther” or “documenter” (a hilarious term, by the way) in order to avoid such nontroversies. But apparently that isn’t enough to avoid your use of the AdH get out of jail free card.
Ridiculous. The same could be said if I called you a documenter. Who are you to know what’s going on in everybody’s brain?
Black Yoshi on August 3, 2009 at 7:51 AM
Er, Ayers practically consisted of McCain’s entire endgame strategy. That really paid off well.

Boy, that came out wrong. The nouns should be reversed.
Black Yoshi on August 3, 2009 at 7:55 AM
The waters aren’t muddy. He was born in Honolulu. State officials have weighed in repeatedly, and the legal proof of his Hawaiian birth has been made available, inspected and photographed. I’m not badly informed. You’re deluded.

If Obama is born in Hawaii, he gets a COLB.
If Obama is born in Kenya, he gets a COLB anyway.

The conservative movement has descended into false dichotomy. So very narrow in their thinking.
Darvin Dowdy on August 3, 2009 at 8:51 AM
Complete and utter bull$hit, you sir wouldn’t know the truth if it killed you, nor could you tell it if it were the only thing capable of keeping you alive. You are a liar by every single definition of the word.
doriangrey on August 3, 2009 at 8:56 AM
You are an irrational fool by every definition of the term, dorian. Especially now that you think that a photo of what purports to be the Kenyan equivalent of a COLB, proffered by an anonymous source, is probative while an official legal document validated by the agency that produced it is not.

When Tweety or Jon Stewart wave some piece of paper in the air, shouting, “Here it is!” then the proper response is, “Great. Let’s find someone with standing to go before SCOTUS and show them a long-form vault copy of the original. This will all go away, then.” When they say, no it won’t, then insist, “Yes, it will. We had the 911 commission investigate and put the public’s fears to rest. We had an Iraq study group to satisfy Americans’ curiosity and restore confidence in our government. There is too much chaos right now for normal Americans to question the legitimacy of our CIC and POTUS.”
alliebobbitt on August 3, 2009 at 9:57 AM
So…how about let’s not, then.
This buzzing about is tragically similar to the endless bleating about the great Diebold conspiracy of 2004.

If so then you would have the emotional maturity of a very disturbed small child.
That sounds very nutty.

It’s not necessary to “know what’s going on in everybody’s brain” to detect similarities in how two words are used. How on earth do you even come up with some of theses bizarre responses of yours?

Excellent – a second person, besides Sarah the elder, who claims to have witnessed the birth (or something close to it). Now, could someone who was actually there please come forward and verify this please? Clearly *somebody* should remember that they worked for this guy in the summer of 1961, and they might be able to corroborate at least one of the locations of the Musical Messiah’s simultaneous live birth.
I don’t see how you presume to speak for everyone on that question when there are other serious issues, such as fund-raising fraud, that factor into this as well. There’s also a genuine human-interest component, for example; it’s important to some of us know where the One’s manger was. We’re not going to tolerate a 2nd Messiah in 2000 years where we didn’t nail down the place where the tour buses should deliver the pilgrims. (You want them taking the pilgrims to the wrong location? LOL.)
Or contributing money to the wrong hospital charity? That’s a little less tongue-in-cheek. And (like all else in the One’s life) it’s only made possible because he can’t be bothered to set the record straight, in a clear, unambiguous manner, on which hospital brung ‘im.

I agree there seems to be some kind of CIVIL WAR between Republicans, Conservatives, and the RON PAUL ALEX JONES RIGHT.
Believe it or not I’m trying to get along with the left over Ron Paul supporters even though I DISAGREE with 70% of what they say on 9/11, master conspiracy theories.
I’m also curious about the birth certificate but 80% sure that Obama was born in Hawaii but then again I wasn’t there when it happened.
I sort of like Mark Levin except when he LASHES OUT AGAINST fellow conservatives who disagree with him and calls them backbenchers, traitors, phony conservatives etc. LEVIN accuses Michael Savage of not being conservative enough. Are you kidding me?
Look I guess I’m a moderate too, even though I do agree if Obama keeps pushing government run things that IS the road to tyranny. But we’re NOT there yet.
rednebulastudios on August 3, 2009 at 3:33 PM
The contention that Obama’s refusal to release his birth certificate is part of a grand master strategy to make his opponents look bad is nonsensical. Here’s the opinion of Professor Carol Swain – a rational Obama supporter, who blogs at Huffington.
Ridiculing people for asking to see the original qualifying document is idiotic.
Basilsbest on August 3, 2009 at 4:00 PM
The chaos would have been predictible and avoided if he had been properly vetted. It is a disgrace that his candidacy was accepted without production of his LFBC. But this is a country where politicians vote to spend billions without reading the bills.
Basilsbest on August 3, 2009 at 4:07 PM
I object to ANYONE that will NOT hold their own accountable and demand better. How many conservatives are tired of frauds pissing down their backs and being told it’s raining by “moderate” RINOs? I for one have had enough of fence sitting moderates with fence posts up their asses.
