The obligatory “bogus poll shows Alaskans souring on Palin” post

posted at 9:05 pm on July 31, 2009 by Allahpundit

The bad news? After a full day without Sarahcuda content, the withdrawal finally got to me. Here you go. Final Hays Research numbers as governor:

Slightly more Alaskans – 48 percent – said they had negative feelings about Palin compared to 47 percent who had positive feelings and another five percent who had no opinion or didn’t know.

The poll taken at the end of Palin’s first week out of office represents a significant slide for the former governor who received higher positive ratings in a Hays Research Group poll in early May. At that time, 54 percent of Alaskans viewed her positively compared to 42 who had the opposite view.

The good news? I’m going to come to her defense here by linking Conservatives 4 Palin’s post about why the Hays poll is a big ball of steaming shinola. How big? Their prediction for how Alaska would break last November was off by a cool … 20 points.

Click around over there and you’ll find some sweet, sweet Allah-bashing too. Time for a beer summit, maybe? Imagine it: Me, Palin, the first dude, and a keg of MGD. And maybe Sullivan too, just so we can finally get to the bottom of the Great Trig Mystery. In her honor, I offer you the latest cut from the Young Conservatives. Yeah, those guys.

Prez Palin better extend the Alaskas checks to the whole country.

PrezHussein on July 31, 2009 at 9:12 PM

I expect that by the same consistent standards of logic Alaskans have a more positive attitude concerning the network of Axelrod’s parasites in Alaska who have clogged up the courts and bled the state treasury with their frivolous ethics complaints in their blatant partisan witch hunt. They must have strong approval ratings for these vermin who pushed Palin out of office and continue to try and bankrupt her family, which includes two infants. Alaska loves them, right?

Allah, I have never before criticized you with regards to your views on Palin, because I always found you to at least base your opinions on issues other than tabloid lies and the Trig Truther stuff. But I’m starting to think that maybe all the AP bashers have a point. This really smacks of obsession and/or desperation on your part.

OlympicLeprechaun on July 31, 2009 at 9:13 PM

Uhhhhh, why would Alaskans have a positive image after she resigned? I don’t see how her numbers (in her state at least) could improve by resigning.

I’ve talked to my uncle who lives in Alaska, and a couple friends who live there as well over the past week, and they say (even my lib uncle) that Palin is seen in pretty good light there, but her resignation is the only thing that still bothers them.

Poll: Nearly 80% Support Palin 2012 Run
Wednesday, July 29, 2009 11:48 AMBy: Jim Meyers

An Internet poll sponsored by Newsmax.com reveals that nearly four out of five respondents would support Sarah Palin as the Republican nominee for president in 2012.
A slightly larger majority believe the then-Alaska governor helped John McCain in the 2008 presidential race — while only 31 percent think McCain did a good job running for president.
The poll drew more than 600,000 responses, and Newsmax will provide the results to major media and share them with radio talk show hosts across the country.

Here are the poll questions and results:
1) What is your opinion of Sarah Palin?
Favorable: 83 percent
Unfavorable: 17 percent
2) Do you believe Sarah Palin as a running mate helped or hurt John McCain?
Helped: 80 percent
Hurt: 20 percent
3) In the election between McCain-Palin and Obama-Biden, who did you vote for?
McCain-Palin: 81 percent
Obama-Biden: 16 percent
Other: 3 percent
4) Would you support Sarah Palin as the Republican nominee for president in 2012?
Yes: 78 percent
No: 22 percent
5) Do you believe McCain did a good job running for president?
Good Job: 31 percent
Bad Job: 69 percent
6) Do you believe Barack Obama “bought” the White House by outspending McCain?
Yes: 72 percent
No: 28 percent

We have to be for gay marriage or we’ve turned our back on a a very important new demigraphic of our party.
We spend like we can just print more.
And there wasn’t one Coservative Leader who had the balls, to include her running mate, to stand up and protect Sarah Palin and her family before the liberal filth and media finally destroyed her.
You’re right about this one thing.
We’re screwed.

Oh who do I want, who do I want for a viable Conservative Candidate?

How about Meg McCain this time? Or maybe we can talk Al Franken into our new big tent.

hawkdriver on July 31, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Hope you are well.

But let’s not do that. The tent can only be large with a very tall and solid conservative at the center, holding it up.

Loxodonta on July 31, 2009 at 10:55 PM

That said…You make a great point. IS there a candidate that all GOPers can agree on, once the primaries run their course? Or will there not be a majority who will get behind whomever it may be?

JetBoy on July 31, 2009 at 10:43 PM

If it is Mitt or huck i stay home. If someone else I will most likely vote for that person. but the way mitt’s people and huck have attacked Palin makes them not worthy of my vote IMO. If they will attack one of our own what loyality do they have for the base after they win election? None they will kick us in the balls just like bush 1, bush 2 and the gop congress did.

I’m not saying its Palin or nothing. I’m sure we have some good up and coming people Rayn looked good on MSNBC but he voted for the Tarp. All i’m saying is Mitt and huck will never get my vote.
