Quote of the day

posted at 10:15 pm on July 31, 2009 by Allahpundit

“‘Could I mention, Steve, that I kept hearing during the campaign the stuff about McCain being weak on economics. They obsessed about this in the media. They never said Obama is weak on economics. I came to Washington as a Reaganite limited government tax cutter.’ He’s right about the media treatment. Neither candidate had a strong command of economics—certainly not Mr. Obama, as events have shown…

‘I remember being on the phone with President Bush, Vice President Cheney, the Treasury secretary and [Fed Chairman Ben] Bernanke. They assure me the world financial system is going to collapse if I don’t vote for the bill. So I do the impetuous and rash thing by saying, look, I have got to go back to Washington and see how I can help. And by the way, so did Obama—but it was McCain that was the impetuous one. Obama came back to Washington.’ Mr. McCain grumbles, ‘He was at the White House with me. But he wasn’t impetuous.’ This is the only time in our interview he shows any bitterness about the campaign…

‘Let’s face it,’ he says, ‘she galvanized our base in a way that I couldn’t. Everywhere she went she drew enormous and enthusiastic crowds like a rock star.’ He says his only regret in selecting the Alaska governor was that no one on the campaign predicted the ferocity of the assaults against her. ‘To the liberal left, particularly the feminists, she is their worst nightmare.’”

As good as that proposed by our very popular, attractive, and eloquent president?

Huh? I was speaking of MB4. No matter what your beliefs are compared to his, the guy is quick, articulate, informed and intelligent. He is on our side and is more conservative then our last presidential candidate. I am convinced alot of his bluster and contentiousness is just for his own entertainment, when the subject is dead serious, he seems to be also, and I would not object to his being called a patriot.

Nothing a little mushroom nibbling won’t fix.

Did you read that bummer story about he kid on mushrooms who tried to break into someones house? Supposedly the kid was breaking in a door and the homeowner was telling him to stop and letting him know he had a gun. The kid busted through and the guy shot him once, through the arm into the chest. The kid got up and went after the guy again and was biting him but calling him dad at the same time. I can’t believe the kid was only on mushrooms. When I was in college I found a field about 3 miles from my apartment where the mushrooms sprouted after every wet night. I played full court basketball on the stuff all summer long on mushrooms and the only people who knew it were the people I told. I don’t advocate drugs, if I could do it all over again I would not have done much of it, but I lived a wild youth and have had enough experience to know when these kinds of stories don’t sound right. Maybe I have an extra strong constitution but I never found myself not knowing where I was or what I was up to and I was a wild man.

It was sent to my secret email address just after I applied on line for the Cash for Clunkers program.

Yes.

And that’s why everything is in such a mess.

Loxodonta on August 1, 2009 at 1:49 AM

I’ve gotten dragged into it with a couple of people here. I can’t help myself. But it is always the same kind of people, when you go at them hard with facts and they cant refute what you say, they twist what you say or get personal very quick. They go off topic. It’s generally a liberal trait but I always noticed that my encounters with those two wer similar. Race Card was alwasy nastier, but thet is his blog persona. About a week ago, aprilobit was into something with a bunch of people and everyone was getting all worked up. I butted in and gave them my opinion of aprilobit. He is a wacko liberal from new york who thinks he is so smart that he can come here and act like a “compassionate” conservative and some how sway us neandorthals to his way of thinking. He usually gets beat up pretty quickly. I said that if anyone were sitting at the next table to him and his friends in a coffee shop in NY he would sound like a cross between hugo chavez and rosie odonnell. Race card is exactly the same. He pretends to be this conservative black guy but his positions are basically the same as aprilobits. The first time I got into it with him was over a peggy noonan story, he takes the postion that the people who go to ivy league schools are the best this country has to offer. Well after I butted into that conversation about a week ago, aprilobit not only did not respond, he just dropped right off. I was literally the next comment after his, within a minute, but he just disappeared. Well two nights ago I was following the comments on a story and someone corrected themselves, spelling wise. I made a comment that they shouldn’t worry about it because most of us read so quickly that we don’t even notice the misspellings. Race card jumped in and got very nasty with me. My comment was freindly and innocuous but Race Card basically called me an idiot and intellectually lazy for not correcting my spelling. It went down hill from there but race card was so obnoxious that other peple jumped in and I just moved on. race card was retaliating against me for what I said about aprilobit because he is aprilobit.

I don’t think they’re the same, but I look it over again.

Loxodonta on August 1, 2009 at 2:06 AM

It sounds like uncommon nonsense.

Are you a fox pretending to be a cat?

I am starting to drag buttski and I have to get up early tomorrow. Is your dastardly plan coming soon or is this a days in the making process? As to having more then one ID, even if I was smart enough to have more then one I would be so p.o.’d at getting banned I would probably take my ball and go home.

Make it mad and see if it wags it’s tail or growls.

Loxodonta on August 1, 2009 at 2:09 AM

Wrong, yet again!

He’s mad.

We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.

Loxodonta on August 1, 2009 at 1:59 AM

Yet again? Mad – granted, but mad and wrong is more than I can bear.

Well her (his) story has been quite elaborate considering how seldom it (?) posts. Seemed like another NYC squish to me so I never have bothered much with replying to his/her comments.

Cindy Munford on August 1, 2009 at 2:12 AM

How can that be? One person can’t have two ID’s. I have never heard of such a thing. It sounds like uncommon nonsense.

Saltysam on August 1, 2009 at 2:07 AM

Or a cat pretending to be a fox pretending to be a cat? I haven’t quite figured that out myself yet.

Cheshire Cat on August 1, 2009 at 2:14 AM

Don’t let the small sh%t ruffle your feathers peace…….

Thanks for the advice, but trust me I don’t. I own my company and have to deal with the ramifications of what the left has done to this country on a daily basis. HA is an outlet as much as anything.

As far as recognizing who is who around here, I watch and listen as much as participate and note the important stuff. Many a girlfriend has been amazed and said, “You were listening?” when I repeated thier own words back to them long after they had forgotten themselves. The points that people make, if truthful, anyone can make, it’s what they wrap it in that identifies them.

Well there may be a little more to it than that, depending, but that sounds interesting and I will have to check it out sometime.

Cheshire Cat on August 1, 2009 at 2:15 AM

infidel4life on August 1, 2009 at 2:10 AM

Could you bear bare beer blogging?

Make it mad and see if it wags it’s tail or growls.

Loxodonta on August 1, 2009 at 2:09 AM

Well, then, you see, a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags its tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.
