Caption Contest: After Beerestroika

posted at 6:55 pm on July 31, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

One of these men was accused of having an animus towards the other by the third man in the picture, a self-proclaimed friend of the second.  Does this picture corroborate either of those assertions?  Doesn’t look like it to me, unless someone wants to argue that James Crowley was attempting a tackle on Henry “Skip” Gates after Beerestroika behind Barack Obama’s back.  The picture gives a revealing look at the dynamics between the three men, so much so that Allahpundit and I have been getting a number of e-mails suggesting a caption contest.

Looks like a good idea to me.  What caption would you add to this denouement of the most famous beer summit since August Busch met his first hop?

I just popped in on page 4 of the comments and will go ahead and declare Christien’s TEH WINNER. Perfect.

Gates: “I bet if I had a hot ass he would help me down the stairs”.

Hee, hee, hee, ha, ha, ha! This reminds me of Carter having Arafat and Rabin over to the White House, only this is on a scale Obama and Biden can handle well.

That picture is worth 1,000,000,000 words. It is the big picture to Obama’s presidency. Cleaning up the messes Obama makes.

Conspiracy theory heard on local radio this A.M.:

Sgt. Crowley was sending a coded message with his choice of beer.

Blue = cops
Moon = how he’d really like to demonstrate his feelings about the situation

mbo213 on August 1, 2009 at 11:07 AM

From the photo, looks like the only thing being taught is Crowley is teaching Gates how to walk after a few beers.

BigMike252 on August 1, 2009 at 11:08 AM

Crowley to Gates:

Remember this Professor, 3 years from now he (points towards Obama) will be unemployed, the Cambridge Police Department will not.

doriangrey on August 1, 2009 at 1:02 PM

They shoulda busted Gates for driving under the unfluence after leaving the W.H.

Cybergeezer on August 1, 2009 at 2:02 PM

Actually, this photo illustrates, quite well, how high ranking blacks have ignored the white mans attempt to help the middle class blacks.
And this caption shows how careless Obama is for his own race.

Cybergeezer on August 1, 2009 at 2:06 PM

Crowley (aloud): Are you okay, sir?
Gates (thinking): If I fall, I’ll have Sonia all over you and yo mamma’s ass.
Obama (thinking): It’s good to be the king. I wish Rahm woulda let me wear the robe and crown.

Check out the video at this link, which captures the bizarre nature of the beer summit: “Surreal Film of Beer Summit Captures Footage of Bigfoot, UFO, But No Teaching Moment” (scroll down to see the video)

Christien is definitely the winner, hands down.

I want to take a moment to vent just a little. This picture sums up what 99.9999999% of your peace officers go about doing every day. In this picture you see Crowley doing one of the most basic things that cops do everyday: He’s helping somebody in need.

But more importantly than that he is assisting a man:

1. who went out of his way to make Crowley’s job difficult, to the point that he became so disorderly that he was arrested
2. who insulted his mother
3. who maligned him publicly as a racist
4. whose VIP buddy who occupies the White House called him “stupid.”
5. whose condescending b*tch of a daughter insulted his own (minor) child publicly over her inexperience with makeup
6. and who is, at the moment the picture was taken and at the moment I type this post two days later, still planning to file a frivilous lawsuit against him and his department.

Despite all of this, Sgt. Crowley still did the right thing and helped an infirm old man down the steps while the A**hole in Chief strides ahead of the little people.

The thing is that, despite the fevered rantings of both race baiting douchebags like Gates and POTUS who see Bull Conner hiding behind every tree and the wild eyed libertarian douchebags who think that the 1st Amendment guarantees them an unrestricted right to rudeness to the point of the destruction of civil society, every day men and women put on their badges and go out to do exactly what Crowley did. They help the A**holes of the world when they need it, even though the A**holes will never appreciate and will still try to destroy the officers (sometimes, quite literally) if they get a chance.

What’s missing in this photo?

..evidence of true concern by Obama for his “old friend” Gates.

(What a turd The Boy King is.)

VoyskaPVO on August 1, 2009 at 11:46 PM

Bataan Death March.

Obama is the sadistic Jap soldier.

Crowley is another soldier helping another soldier Gates.

I’m not trying to win any caption contest; But, Crowley looks like he knows how to take advantage of a photo op; And he’s shown he can perform under pressure; How about Palin/Crowley 2012?

Cybergeezer on August 2, 2009 at 11:43 AM

Where is the poll to pick the winner????

RedSoxNation on August 2, 2009 at 10:42 PM

Officer Crowley helping Dr. Gates down the steps knowing he is aged/feeble and after having bad mouthed him publicly-Awesome!

Our President jaunting down the steps and leaving his cane using “friend” behind to fend for himself-pathetic.
