Open thread: White House kegstand solves nation’s racial problems

posted at 5:45 pm on July 30, 2009 by Allahpundit

Alternate headline: “Teachable Moment Results In Nothing Much Learned.” I’ll be away from the computer while The Drink-up That Saved America is happening, sad to say, but we need a thread open so that commenters can document the inevitable media cooing about The One’s “brewski diplomacy” or “suds summit” or whatever stupid name they’re cooking up for this stunt. No presser or public statement is being planned by the participants as far as I know, but some reporter’s bound to corner Gates or Crowley afterwards outside the White House for the obligatory “productive discussion” soundbite. As for The One, he’s already on record as being “fascinated with the fascination.”

Fox News is normally my channel of choice, but given the humiliating lengths to which MSNBC’s already gone to hype this photo op plus the fact that Crowley and Gates should be walking in while Matthews’s show is on the air, you’d be a fool not to be watching “Hardball” right now. With any luck, we might actually see some tears. To entertain you while we wait for “news” to break, here’s an amusing report from Comic Con by Red State Update. Much like Crowley this evening, they’re surrounded by nerds who take themselves too seriously. Mild content warning.

First of all both Gates and Crowley should have accepted with the stipulation that there would be NO CAMERAS. They should have known that BO would use this as a photo op.

Then Joe Biden saw the cameras and crashed the party… doesn’t he have a drinking problem?

Secondly – where is the poor woman who’s life was turned up-side-down because she had the audacity to call the police? Doesn’t Obama like hispanic-looking women?

I thought there was some sort of law against showing actual alcohol consumption on TV?

If beer sales go through the roof and drunk-driving deaths skyrocket after this, can we impeach The Precedent?

Gates/gate This is just sick how does this help anything.
Just a photo op for the pres.
Well one thing the more the pres is out there the worst his poll numbers are. So I say BHO just keep it up. ( Jimmy Carter

BTW, local news here said today that AZ’s illegal alien population has diminished by an estimated 1/3 in the last two years thanks to tougher hiring laws and stepped-up enforcement.

Ya know, cops are known as the Thin Blue Line, Boys in Blue, etc.; is it possible that Crowley is going to give Ogabe an actual fleshy Blue Moon?

Seriously? Crowley is drinking Blue Moon? I’m not near a TV and my work’s stupid firewall is blocking the video online. I would never have guessed him being a Blue Moon drinker. BO, being light in the loafers, I would assume likes Blue Moon…but Crowley.

Sort of, but I’m glad Barry is doing it. Everyone on the planet sees it for what it is, and somehow Biden’s presence adds the cherry on top. If we weren’t already the laughingstock of the world, I’d probably feel a bit worse. It does keep Barry’s overt racism on the front page a bit longer and that’s a good thing.

We’ve made this with Blue Moon.. It’s yummy..

Lime-Chile Beer.

Yield
Makes 2 servings

Ingredients
1/3 cup fresh lime juice, plus 2 lime wedges
2 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 (12-oz.) bottle light-bodied wheat beer (such as New Belgium’s Sunshine Wheat)
1/4 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
Preparation
1. In a glass measuring cup, stir lime juice, sugar, and 1/3 cup water together until sugar dissolves. Fill 2 beer mugs with ice and pour half the beer into each. Top with lime mixture.

2. Sprinkle one side of each lime wedge with salt and the other with chili powder. Serve with beer.

Hopefully Crowley goads Obama and Gates into slamming more than a few beers, maybe even some shooters.

That would be awesome to see Obama staggering around the White House lawn while Gates has his face plastered in the ground.

Incidentally, the local Offensive Police cried and screamed at Boulevard billboards around here a couple of years ago, they had lined up different brews and labled them “Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo”

And if the invitation is to drink with someone who called you a liar and stupid, and won’t retract it, to demonstrate that nobody should mind you being called a liar and stupid if you don’t care…then it’s smart to refuse it.

And if you’re a cop who might have to put some scumbag behind bars with testimony, refusing to concede your integrity is really a job requirement…
