Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on July 30, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Yesterday, Barack Obama tried to defend his stimulus package in order to regain some modicum of credibility on his massive reorganization of the health-insurance industry, but his attempt at a joke hit a little too close to home. After being presented with cupcakes made in his honor, Obama put his stimulus in real-world terms:

12:20 p.m. – Obama says, “we helped stop a recession from becoming a depression,” and explains how the jobs programs in the stimulus are helping. Says tax cuts are helping people buy “cupcakes and other necessities of life.”

Well, the problem is that describes about all of what Porkulus allows them to buy.  As Heritage pointed out at the time Congress passed the Obama-Pelosi stimulus, the tax cuts included in the package allows the average worker to keep $10 more in cash every week.  And guess what?  That expires in two years, which means that workers won’t be able to afford those cupcakes on a permanent basis.

But live it up, my fellow Americans.  You can buy about a half-dozen cupcakes at Perkins for that ten bucks each week until 2011.  After that, you’ll have to answer to ObamaCare for your obesity and poor diet habits.  (h/t: Duane “Generalissimo” Patterson of the Hugh Hewitt Show)

Addendum: Normally I’d put a link to Chris Muir’s Day by Day site here, but today I want to do more than that. Chris has a fundraising drive to keep his excellent cartoon alive.  Be sure to drop a few dollars in his collection to keep one of the Rightosphere’s most talented warriors in the fight!

It’s on when Obama and his band of merry thieves needs to scare you into believing that we need to pass his healthcare reform bill or the Earth will become flat again.

It’s off when Obama tries to justify that his mega-trillion dollar stimulus/porkulus/crap-sandwich-ulus is working, jobs have been created, and people are living large on Ho-Ho’s and Twinkies.

After the leeches, vermin, and vultures have finished licking Michigan’s bones dry, and moved on to greener pastures, it will be a good place to move to. Socialists and communists are like Islam. They’re viruses that consume the victim, but can’t survive on their own. I wouldn’t mind living there someday.

JiangxiDad on July 30, 2009 at 8:41 AM

I would plan on the Upper Peninsula, if you can stand 7 months of winter, 3 months of bugs, and 2 months of pure heaven (Fall). We call it “God’s Country” for a reason. Oh, and no jobs, either.

Stuart Varney just said, on Fox, that Michigan jobs won’t come back for at least a decade. We have been used to that up here for a long, long time. There is a chance for two new mines, and some high paying jobs, in the UP right now, but the greenies who have moved up here in the last 10 years are blocking them, along with the Dem pols.

“Just say ya to da UP.” :-)

–persisting racist Obamateurism–

*LORETTA KING ordered the Justice Dept. case completed and ready for prosecution against the New Black Panthers be dropped.

Loretta King was the tool that initiated an investigation into Sheriff Arpaio’s immigration enforcement as “illegal racial profiling”

Who is Loretta King? Obama’s Sweetie Cupcake.

Loretta King was selected by Assistant Attorney
General Deval L. Patrick as the Civil Rights Division’s career Deputy Assistant Attorney General in 1994. Her primary responsibilities include supervision of the Coordination and Review, Special Litigation, and Voting Rights Sections.

A graduate of Duke University and American University’s
Washington College of Law, Ms. King worked from 1980-1990 in the Employment Litigation Section, enforcing Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Executive Order 12246. After a stint in the Civil Division, Ms. King returned to the Division in 1992 as Deputy Chief in the Voting Section, where she focused considerable energy on the defense of cases challenging majority-minority districts.

Ms. King is a proud beneficiary of the civil rights laws passed during the 1960′s, and thus has devoted her career to enforcing those very laws for the benefit of future generations.

Ms. King enthusiastically supports and is actively involved in the Coordination and Review Section’s initiatives to reinvigorate the governmentwide enforcement of Title VI and Title IX. “The Department of Justice has an important leadership role under Executive Order 12250,” she said, “and we will exercise it so that the full potential of covered civil rights laws can be realized.” Ms. King added, “This is especially true with respect to Title VI and Title IX — they finally will get the attention and emphasis they deserve and need.”

They were withholding cuts not tax cuts and a whole lot of people are going to find this out by April 15th when they have to pay much of it back in the form of a check to the IRS. And guess what it might even include interest and penalties for underpayment of quarterly taxes.

The green fascists have also established federal forestry protocol to deplete entire forests via wildfires by denying proper safety procedures formerly practiced by the Forest Service.

The federal fascists are legislating right now the federal dictatorship on ALL water in America, all sources of water including ground water for your well or pond.

Water rights are subsistence rights.

Top it off, the green fascists would dictate all growth of vegitation, particularly today all consumable produce including your home garden.

Something else Obama said here in NC yesterday, was that he plans on holding Doctors responsible for the health care of patients (along with the BS about being able to keep your insurance and doctor). Ya think he’s planning on holding teachers to the same standard?

Considering they were giddy at dismantling the “No Child Left Behind” schoolhouse in front of the Dept. of Education, I’d say that the filthy liar cares more about protecting his NEA funding than helping chidren. His little brats are in a $20K+/year private school, so the plight of public schools doesn’t reach into his view of the world.

highhopes on July 30, 2009 at 11:27 AM

Every first term President is an “amateur”! Why waste time pointing that out? What really should be pointed out is that every week just when you think “tHE oNE” cannot be more incompetent, he proves you wrong! It takes a very special person to become more incompetent and worthless the longer they are on the job.

Unreal. Also from Marie Antoinette Obama (via Ed’s link):

12:45 p.m. – A businesswoman with 20 employees asks Obama: What is your government model for health care? Obama cites Medicare and the Veterans Administration, saying both government-run health programs get good ratings.

Really????

I’m left to wonder whether he is merely uninformed or out of his flipping mind.

Rush is playing cuts from Obama’s “health care” town hall yesterday. Someone ask the Pres if he thought his plan was good enough to enroll his family in, and his response was a joke. He claimed that the plan is similar to the insurance he had when he was a member of the Senate.

Ha! I think he has been eating brownies not cupcakes! I mean does the guy really believe the things he says or is he just a compulsive liar?

Well, the problem is that describes about all of what Porkulus allows them to buy. As Heritage pointed out at the time Congress passed the Obama-Pelosi stimulus, the tax cuts included in the package allows the average worker to keep $10 more in cash every week. And guess what? That expires in two years, which means that workers won’t be able to afford those cupcakes on a permanent basis.

Liberals this time largely pinned their hopes on a refundable, two-year tax credit for low- and middle-class Americans applied to the first $8,100 of earnings. It amounts to $400 per person per year, or $800 per couple – about $10 more per weekly paycheck.

This is wrong, very misleading, the math doesn’t work.

It’s $400.00 per year, per worker
52 weeks per year (Vacation/holiday time is paid at the same hourly rate)
$400.00 / 52 = $7.69 per week
$7.69 per week / 40 hours = $0.192 cents per hour

“allows the average worker to keep $10 more in cash every week”

Ah, I see where my math messed up. It’s “$10 more in cash” as in after taxes, for a 2-income family!

Or $5.00 per worker, per week
$5.00 per week / 40 hours = $0.125 cents per hour

$0.125 cents per hour x 8 hours = $1.00 one frigging dollar per day!
Let them eat CAKE!
