While I cannot speak for anyone but myself. Being “properly motivated” does me no good when I am either not qualified or over-qualified for the jobs resulting from #1 and#2. If the jobs are not available in my field I’m stuck until there is a shortage of workers. Contrary to all the talk about the corruptocrats being for science the science jobs are not there and they are becoming fewer. Including through the government.

Most will be happy: the Janitors Union will have lots of sweeping jobs, and the teachers Unions will see a huge demand for more high-quality teachers as the needed new schools are built, and the inner city types will have even more to complain about. What’s to lose?

These jobs would not be available for at least over 5 years. Therefore, they do not count in the “we want it now” liberal mentality and your suggestion is rendered invalid. Please try again to think of something that will benefit us now, as we do not care about our future generations.

There’s no way we can get 2/3′d majority in both houses next year. And just stopping this won’t prevent the collapse. Even if we got 51% nominal “Republicans” in Congress, there’d still be more than enough RINOS to make sure we got stuck with the blame.

So (politically speaking) we don’t have to worry about anything for the next year and a half except ruthlessly slashing out the dead weight in our own party, getting ready for 2011.

In the meantime, we need to attack and attack and attack and attack. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying we should be like the barking moonbats. They are a bunch of p*ssies. We need to go for the throat. They started this war; we are going to finish it.

All of this sounds great – one big problem. The statists are in control.
Obama is the uber-Marxist. The goal is to crush free-enterprise. Obama says the stimulus will create jobs – it won’t – it does not have to. The statists will use the rest of the stimulus to grab what they can and then – sorry.

Unless enough people vote like their lives depend on it then it won’t matter.

That’s why we jokingly (well, maybe not jokingly) refer to it as The People’s Republic of Wisconsin.

Interesting note, though. If you were to go by the number of people at the Lake of the Torches Casino in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin last Friday, and the amount of money they were dumping into the slot machines, it would be difficult to imagine there is any problem with the economy. Looked like the summer people, up from the cities, brought a lot of money north with them.

This summer the parking lots at the casinos in the UP, nearby the Wisconsin border, are full most days now with lots of Wisconsin and Illinois license plates. Go figure.

You want to hear something odd. I just got a job in St. Louis in the corporate office of a casino company. I was worried about the nature of the economy and the nature of the job, but as I’ve been driving by casinos and sitting in on meetings, the casinos are still packed.

My family owned business in Michigan has 12 employees. It’s evenly split between Dems and Repubs. If I have to cut jobs soon, is it wrong for me to let the Dems go first? After all, it is their politicians that have taxed businesses and jobs out of our state. In my mind, it wouldn’t be fair to cut the jobs of those that support my business and it’s growth with thier vote. Could I be held legally liable for this type of a decision when the Unions in Michigan have run the state this way?

I run a midwestern manufacturing plant, so I get to see this unfolding everyday. My dad started our business back in 77 and says he hasn’t seen an environment this tough ever. It’s been a downward trending rollercoaster thus far, but things are looking a lot worse. No one is spending. Companies are holding back on purchases, repairs, maintenance, etc etc. and I don’t blame them – we are doing the same thing. The only way to survive is to cut cut cut and get as lean and mean as possible. (And pray that the clowns in DC don’t make things even worse.)

Anyway, from what I’ve been seeing, August is going to have some seriously large unemployment numbers. A lot of plants have shut down temporarily or done other measures to avoid firing. However, you can only do that for so long before you realize that things aren’t going to be improving soon. I think a lot of companies will soon be cutting jobs that they are still holding on to. At least in MFG.
