Its funny, when the presidential debates were going on, McCain stated that he thought we should stop all gov’t programming (except vet care and a couple other things) and go through everything and clean it up.

Obama’s response was that McCain wanted to take a sledgehammer to a problem where only a scalpel was needed.

Bush tried to deal with the Fannie Mae situation and Congress blocked him, more than a dozen times. However, once the system collapsed in September 2008 they passed a lot of the reforms he wanted and let the Feds take control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Just like the whole issue of social security, people in the Congress and much of the country did not want to hear that we needed reform. Republicans by and large did not support a lot of the excesses of these programs, but it can be argued they did not do enough to reign them in…even when a Republican President was urging them to do so.

So, I think that Congress needs a lot more of the blame than it gets.

And also there were larger forces at work here. This down turn was global and had a lot to do with world energy prices. So blaming one man is kind of ridiculous no matter who the one man is.

Simple math: -407 + (-787) = -1,194 OR, expressed as a budget figure, $1.194 TRILLION DEFICIT caused by a Blame Bush Congress of Democrat majority. If anyone wants to agree with me that the Democrats did this in order to continue to Blame Bush for political gain in periods later than October, 2008, feel free to do so.

I just got done with my last quarter of taxes for my business.

Under Bush my rates were between 38% to 42%.

After taxes and other expenses I bring home between $130,000 to $170,000 a year.

This last quarter my tax rate was 57%.
