Video: Paul Ryan torches ObamaCare on MSNBC

posted at 9:03 pm on July 29, 2009 by Allahpundit

Nothing here you haven’t heard before but it’s so rare these days to stumble across an engaging, concise, confident presentation on economic issues by a top Republican that he deserves some extra publicity for it. Yeah, he voted for TARP, and yeah, he voted for that awful confiscatory tax on the AIG bonuses, but he’s made to order as a message man: Young, comfortable talking about the economy, and not from the south. More TV time, please.

Blowback

Yeah, he voted for TARP, and yeah, he voted for that awful confiscatory tax on the AIG bonuses, but

BUT he saw the dropping poll numbers and decided to take a brave stand.

I don’t know about the guy but he seems RINO’ish if the voting record is any indication.

Republicans can’t have too many people who can make their arguments. Resent the southerner crack. Good to see that Katrina doesn’t have a clue about government. Not only are there several private plans to choose from but half is paid by the policy holder.

I love how he’s shredding Katrina’s “public plan” option, calling her out as the lying socialist that she is trying to “sell government run health care with the rhetoric of capitalism” and the other talking head jumps in and ends the interview. Whenever facts come up, these pathetic lefties just shut down, can’t talk anymore, run out of things to say. I bet both of those talking heads were just dying to scream “You’re a racist!!!!” to bring that very factual conversation about the steaming pile of sh*t government health care will be back to a place they’re comfortable with.

This is the first time I’ve watched MSNBC in ages, and I am thunderstruck by how they are completely acting as advocates for the left wing of the Democratic Party. They don’t even hint at hiding it.

Given that, I was delighted to see how dismayed and panicked they were at confronting an articulate, responsive Republican who made the opposition case.

But I don’t get your Southern point, even though I’ve never lived south of the Mason-Dixon line. What’s wrong with a Southern spokesman? Was that a Voinovich (sp?) joke, or are you serious? Because outside of the Northeast cocoon, in which I once lived, it doesn’t seem like much of a point. Heck, Southerners are usually much more gifted with their gab than the rest of us. Why not leverage that?

I see now they want to tax “cadillac” health insurance policies. Just another way to drive people into a poor private plan or the even poorer public plan.

boomer on July 29, 2009 at 9:40 PM

I think now that the polls are showing that support for the president is eroding, the Republicans will do a much better job of verbalizing their points. Since the election in some weird sort of mandatory acknowledgment of the president’s supposedly overwhelming popularity Republicans have seen fit to preface any disagreement with Mr. Obama or his policies with overt flattery. As if they were going to be called Klan members if they openly disagreed. It was very annoying and I hope this means they have stopped.

Every time I hear her Upper West Side nasal sibilances, I feel like she’s going to offer me a poison apple – and she does, in some Far Left Socialist form! She’s cold as a pit viper and twice as venemous.

Wonder if she went to Princeton with Le Michelle? Does Princeton mass produce these femigogues?
