Video: Michelle discusses Obama’s “racial opportunism” on … the Today show

Here’s that intriguing morning appearance I teased in Monday’s Hannity post. A bunch of you thought I was talking about “The View,” which broke my heart because how awesomely awesome would that have been? Ah well. Enjoy Lauer affecting shock at the idea that a guy who tried to prove his “authenticity” by spending 20 years in Reverend Wright’s Church of the Perpetual Grievance, who once famously accused Team McCain of having a problem with the fact that he doesn’t look like the other presidents on U.S. currency, and who was known to reference “Malcolm X” while addressing black audiences on the campaign trail might possibly be guilty of racial opportunism. Although, in The One’s defense, what kind of progressive would he be if he wasn’t?

Best part: The boss lighting into Michelle Obama for her history of cronyism, much to Matt’s horror. Be sure to watch to the very end or you’ll miss the look on his face as he wraps the segment. I’m guessing she wasn’t booked at his insistence.

What the Hell?

Has Michelle made a deal with the Devil? Doing an Elizabeth Báthory gig where she is bathing in the blood of young virgins? She looks better than ever and yet I know Time still passes. How does that happen.

And Matt was seriously distressed. He flew through the interviews looking for something that would give pause to Michelle but they were all right in her sweet spot and Matt couldn’t keep up the pace. Lauer’s look there at the very end was him wondering how he woke up on Queer Street.

She totally left Matt Lauer speechless. He looked distraught and discombobulated. Awesome, he can’t refute facts. The Obama administration is officially beginning to unravel.

How did readers like the book, by the way?

Anil Petra on July 30, 2009 at 9:46 AM

I’m on chapter 4, so far it’s really good. Not sure why she’s getting so many ” 1 star ” reviews on Amazon. I’ll add a review there when I’ve finished reading.

I remember the faux controversy a video game caused once. The psychologist that was one Fox News erroneously trashed a game because it had a “sex scene.” Well, a bunch of gamers got pissed and infuriatingly gave her book a ton of one star reviews. I suspect foul play here too.

Love to see that Michelle has moved on from supporting the internment of American citizens by racial means. Keep up the good work Michelle!
Gag.

It’s a good one. Looks almnost like he’s doing his best not to make eye contact with her.

I’m sure he has acted that way towards everyone who was on the show bashing republicans.

Way to go Michelle!

Too bad they had to cut to a commercial; I think that Matt Lauer’s head was about to explode.

Chlorian Theoreticus on July 30, 2009 at 10:33 PM

It’s too bad the left is so closed minded that nothing is going to get through to them anyway. I hope Michelle sells many books.

At least the historical record shows that everyone in this generation of Americans weren’t nodding approval while Obama killed the American Dream.

I truly feel sorry for our heirs. We received the greatest society on Earth and we will give another failed example of socialist dependent government to our grandchildren. What a shame.

Michelle served up jackass(Matt Lauer) on a platter. Keep it up Michelle and take no crap from anyone.

Best Regards

hamradio on July 31, 2009 at 1:40 AM

Did I mention that Lauer was probably BRAYING during the commercial break ?

hamradio on July 31, 2009 at 1:48 AM

Her foot was so far up his ass he couldn’t bring himself to speak at the end – just a boilerplate wrap-up.

Oof.

Michelle, as always delivered a well spoken, well informed and well articulated interview eventhough Matt was trying his best at damage controll!!

Good Job Michelle!!

Sorry. Take that back. My mistake.

Loxodonta on August 1, 2009 at 6:13 AM

max1, please format better. Your formating made it seem that those were your views, not those of a Gawker poster. I have reformatted you post and removed the offensive terms:

+++++++++++++++++++++

the below quoted from one of the posters in a story about the Michelle/Matt interview at Gawker … what an effin LIAR! (I wonder which poster he/she was/is?) hmmm..plus, Gawker recycled the Micheele in bikini shot for the pic they used. disgusting.

Comment from Gawker poster Kobayashi Maru:

I hate to admit this. A year or two ago I went through a self-loathing period and I somehow became a commenter on her site (it’s almost never open for registration). I am not sure why. But I tried to, gosh, I don’t know, reason with the orcs that cheer her on there. The commenters on Malkin’s site are, I can say without hesitation, some of the most repulsive, appalling people I have ever come across in my life. Overt racists and homophobes, who regularly use the words “f……” and “n…..” without consequence. People who, no joke, literally threatened my life at times. Like, for random example, when I had the gall to come out as the lone dissenter on such “valid” topics as “let’s stalk a brain stem injured 12 year old’s house to see if his family is truly worthy of state health insurance benefits”.

That’s just off the top of my head, but that is her constituency. And that is what NBC has legitimized here. I think it stinks.

+++++++++

I believe this format makes it clearer what your views are about a quoted post at Gawker.

GREAT JOB MICHELLE! Classy, cool, correct–and “telling it like it is” on each well researched point.
***
Matt Lauer looked like he just got over a bad ROOT CANAL at the end of the interview and needed a few shots of whiskey to dull the pain!
***
As far as the poster who trashed those who comment on Michelle Malkin and Hot Air–almost all those I read seem pretty classy to me. Go the Huffington Post or Daily Kos to see what bad really looks like. Or watch the State Run Media shows–Chris (”leg tingle”) Matthews or his “sidekick” Rachael Maddow for bad on steroids.

Terry Silver on July 30, 2009 at 5:39 PM

She screwed up on the internment issue — let her personal feelings (as a Filipina ethnic against the Japanese) color what should have been a completely different finding of racism on the part of FDR, Army General John DeWitt, and the Democrats of California and Congress against individual American citizens (the overwhelming number of those interned were Citizens, including Harry Sumida (Navy Veteran of the Spanish American War, who was taken froma VA Hospital to Manzanar) and Sadao Munemori, who enlisted in Los Angeles (just before his family was sent to Manzanar) and who subsequently received a posthumous Medal of Honor:

“He fought with great gallantry and intrepidity near Seravezza, Italy. When his unit was pinned down by grazing fire from the enemy’s strong mountain defense and command of the squad devolved on him with the wounding of its regular leader, he made frontal, one-man attacks through direct fire and knocked out two machine guns with grenades. Withdrawing under murderous fire and showers of grenades from other enemy emplacements, he had nearly reached a shell crater occupied by two of his men when an unexploded grenade bounced on his helmet and rolled toward his helpless comrades. He arose into the withering fire, dived for the missile and smothered its blast with his body. By his swift, supremely heroic action Pfc. Munemori saved two of his men at the cost of his own life and did much to clear the path for his company’s victorious advance.”

[The above is as much for Michelle as for you.]

That she was wrong on that issue certainly does not make her wrong on this one, as the Obamas’ lives as board members and graft-takers and graft-givers show. Nepotism may be a wrong word, as no nephews were involved — they just bootstrapped each other — Michelle by having organizations she controlled or had influence with donate to Barack’s campaigns, and Barack by using his elective offices to push money toward organizations employing Michelle. If you count the White House appointment of Maya Lin (Barack’s half-sister) to a commission whose job is to select awardees of White House Fellowships, we have three. You may gag all you want, but you are gagging on the truth. Maybe nepotism in politics is OK with you, but it sure isn’t with me.

unclesmrgol on August 1, 2009 at 5:59 PM

She didn’t screw up on Internment. She made some of the most well reasoned arguments I’ve ever read about it. And I don’t even support it!

And it’s not nepotism, it’s cronyism.

Come on boys, back my hero Michelle up. This is the only copy of her inspiring speech at Dallas on the 4th of July that I can find on youtube and they cut it.

Pretty please? I can promote her book better with it….and I’ll do it for free!
