I’d like to find out the circumstances of MB4′s ban first, though, but so far I haven’t had any luck. This is the first time that there’s been a ban that I’ve been unable to find the relevant thread. That makes me wonder….

It’s seems fairly definite that Ed has banned MB4 because of Michael Jackson, as fantastically absurd as that sounds.

She hasn’t been around for months, but she was one of the most prolific commentators here since the early days of HotAir. She’s an immigrant/refugee, (I think), from Eastern Europe and had personal experience with Marxism. I never learned where she was from, specifically, and she disappeared a few months following Ed’s arrival here at HotAir.
If Ed Banned Entelechy, I am so gone from here! I would consider it an honor to be banned along side Ent. I only wish I knew if she were commenting somewhere else, but this is the only political blog I frequent.

I wish I knew the specifics, (maybe it’s not as ridiculous as it sounds), but I’ve been unable to find the thread, which is itself unusual. I’ve been here over two years and I’ve always found out, usually after the fact, the circumstances of a ban.
I just don’t get it.

What makes you think that AP and Michelle have anything to do with this ban? I doubt that very much.
I admit that I haven’t yet been able to discover the specific context of MB4′s ban, but he’s long been one of my favorite commentators here and I’ve been here over two years, (which makes me an old timer, even if that means little), and MB4 was here before I was, as I recall. And both of us for years before you, Guntootinglibertarian.
And to me, the prospect that Ed banned MB4, (who was a member years before Ed himself), due to a disagreement about the frequency of Michael Jackson threads is appalling to me. If you don’t care that a valued member was banned over such an, apparently, trivial offense, then I’m sure you’ll be happy once I’ve been banned in the next few days, possibly, as I try to figure out what happened to MB4.

Wow, some of you people (particularly Libs), are so pompous, as if those of us who are Caucasian have never been discriminated against. Let me tell you, we are not in the majority everywhere in this country, and when in the minority, we are treated pretty poorly sometimes.
I live in a very large city in Texas which is on the border of Mexico, and the population is 85% Hispanic. The other 15% is divided amongst all the other ethnicities, maybe, 10 – 12% White.
I have lived here much of my life, but I am a minority here, and at times have had verbal slurs made towards me, as well as other racial slights.
It is difficult to get a job in the public sector if you don’t speak Spanish, tell me what is fair about that. Businesses that are not minority-owned, (by Gov’t standards), are passed up on contracts everyday, simply because they are run by white men, even though they are in the minority here, always have been, and always will be.
But I regress, Whites can’t be discriminated against, because we are the ones who are racist! Well that is a load of c**p, because anyone can be discriminated against, regardless of skin color. As other ethnicities always remind us, “don’t judge someone else’s experience, until you’ve walked in their shoes”.

AP, In this case I think you are wrong for calling Beck’s statement’s outrageous. And I don’t like inflammatory language as a rule but here I believe you are stuck in a PC mindset. Add up every outrageous thing President Obama has said, his actions over the years, and who he has hung out with in the lens of race relations — and even his wife’s statements and you have to conclude that his actions are not only outrageous — but racist. Just look at his AG, Eric Holder, who dropped the charges against the Black Panthers who intimidated people at the polls. If this was Bush and he let his AG drop charges against the KKK, you would never hear the end to it. Double standard. BO is tolerant of white people but he uses them as needed for his purposes. I believe he has a deep seated contempt of white people in general. IMHO. But the media, the useful idiots they are, are too busy tripping over themselves to show how much they love him.
You might want to show you are fair and civilized, but I don’t think you are correct on this issue. I date a black woman and don’t care about color of pigmentation except that it is another interesting feature of human beings, but Barack Obama has a chip on his shoulder and that chip is a racist streak towards white people. The latest piece of evidence is the Gates affair. But that is just the latest of a long streak.

Ed—HotAir—you need to rectify this injustice. I thought Ed’s Croce thread was very clever, myself, but while MB4 clearly misunderstood the point, he indicated before he was banned that due to technical issues he hadn’t watched the video. His rant was entirely understandable in that context. The thread was intentionally meant to misconstrue its intent.
Give him a break. Reinstate him. Ask him to please come back. He’s most certainly not a troll. Period, end of discussion. He is a valued member.

Stated better: The Croce thread was a deliberate attempt to mislead. It’s obvious to me, (and should be plausible to others), that such an attempt could lead some members, (even valued veterans), with technical problems to certain conclusions, especially considering the context of a proliferation of Michael Jackson threads at the time.
Please reinstate MB4, and try to convince him to return.

James, and yet the anti defamation league has a direct link as well as well as other dot org sites. IMO these people are deadly serious and should not be ignored! They feel that they are due andtheir messiah is come to save them. I am not in position to say whether Obama is a racist or not, but I do know he realizes that the “white man’s greed runs a world in need”. Does the fact that Obama thinks the fate of the world is in the hands of the greedy white man mean he is a racist? Did we ever find out which Jeremiah Wright sermons Obama attended? Perhaps the USofKKK sermon, US government created aids virus to kill black people tirade. Or my favorite, I don’t tell the black man to say God Bless America, no, no, no, I say GD America, GD America. Then of course the whole premise of Black Liberation Theology and beliefs. If I am not mistaken for Wright, and then for 20 years Obama, their God was black, and out to kill the white God. I didn’t even know we had a white God.

Do you have any evidence that MB4 was a birther? I’ve never associated him with that conspiracy in my mind, although I’m not certain enough to say he’d be immune. As of now, the evidence seems to indicate that if he was banned due to a misunderstanding, (by design), about the Michael Jackson/Croce thread.

Okay. Just trying to help out. I miss Entelechy and MB4 also.
I think Entelechy just quit coming by and is not banned. She’d never post anything that would earn her a ban. Hopefully, and I mean I really really hope it is not something of a personal nature beyond her control. She is a lady from a former communist country and is steadfast in her religious convictions. She once commented along the lines of atheist related threads being posted were becoming too prevelant for her tastes. I think the troll’s were becoming too much for her also when she tried to engage in serious and enlightening dialogue. Most likely she just found elsewhere to hang out.

And I’ve never seen Ed, AP or Bryan comment about a troll in that fashion without at least a warning or ban, but there’s a first time for everything I suppose.

I mean with groups like MoveOn, SEIU and ACORN I’m sure they are willing to have open peaceful debate. If I recall correctly from that thread of a few weeks ago, MB4′s point seemed to be that even though that thread was suppose to not actually be another thread about Jackson, just one that kind of fooled some people into thinking that it was yet another thread about Jackson (even though the back of the head shot didn’t look at all like Jackson), it was actually another thread, at least in part, about Jackson, with just what he considered to be “plausible deniability” because of the “ruse”. Imagine if you were to say in your wife’s direction, “What a fat a$$!” and then your wife gives you a look that could kill and you say, “But I meant that other woman in front of you! See look at her!” But your wife is probably going to know what your game was.

I’m sick of liberals getting away with the Sotomayor kind of crap and Obama not being tied to these horrible (racist) people he puts in power. When they’re called on it they cry, but turn around and use it on decent Americans all the time.
This must stop and we should help Beck get the word out.

I think it was the Michael Jackson/Croce thread for sure, but I will lay you odds that MB4 would likely be a “birther” as progressoverpeace is a “birther” and I can see him thinking along the same lines of “people don’t hide things unless they have something to hide” and being skeptical with partial and selective and sometimes inconsistent release of evidence. Also I remember him quoting Twain’s saying something like “If you find yourself on the side of the majority it is time to pause and reflect”. I think his personality type would find himself drawn to the contrarian/skeptics view. But then what do I know. I am just the utterly mad deceased founding father of psychiatry.

You may be right. He could possibly be a birther, (I’m not sure), regardless, that apparently isn’t why he was banned, (if he was at all). And besides, I noticed today that some of my favorite members, that also happen to be birthers, were still present today in spite of the recent threads ridiculing the subject, so I don’t think that topic has anything to do with the possibility he was banned. The Croce thread was before the HA push against Birtherism.
That was way back in December of last year. I’m not a Birther, I never have been, yet only a few weeks ago I said here that Obama should reveal his birth certificate. Why wouldn’t he? (I haven’t paid any attention to the controversy so am not aware of all the facts.) Then I learned that apparently Hawaii destroyed all their birth certificates a few years ago for some reason.
Does that make me a Birther? Because I’m not.
That statement by MB4 doesn’t prove he was a birther, and it doesn’t seem to be a factor anyway so it’s immaterial.

Glenn Beck is absolutely correct, though. If he said those statements, he would be branded a racist by the media (because he is a conservative). However, if Obama says them, then it’s o.k.?

It wasn’t a disagreement over the frequency of the MJ threads that did him, nor do I think it was just a matter of being fooled. He was able to learn from other commenters who the thread was about. MB4′s crime was that he chose to make an ass of himself and start poking Ed in the eye over it, in effect trying to start a flame war with him. Ed’s a nice guy and I like him a lot, but starting a flame war with someone who holds the ban hammer is not a good idea.
A lot of people who were taken in by the deception were good-natured about it and took it well. I think if MB4 had chosen that route he would still be here.

Illogical. Exceedingly very few people “choose to make an ass” of themselves as you choose to put it, and as with beauty, “make an ass” is in the eye of the beholder. Think Obama/Gates and Crowley.
