Quotes of the day
posted at 10:30 pm on July 29, 2009 by Allahpundit
“What’s most amazing about this episode is that what Beck said isn’t a fireable or even a SUSPENDABLE offense by his bosses. There was a time when outrageous rants like this would actually cost the ranters their jobs. But not anymore; if anything, it’s now encouraged. And all of this could turn ACTUAL journalists into the next Howard Beales. It’s getting nuts that the folks who are creating the perception of an ideological/polarized media world are people who have never really spent their lives being journalists… Of course, Beck’s crazy language could have one unintended consequence: It could cost him bookings with any Republicans who want to be popular outside Beck’s hard-core bizarro-land viewers.”

Beck was flawless this morning defending his truthful accusation, which of course he shouldn’t have had to.

The MSLSD talking point, all day long, was that Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sarah Palin are all racists hatemongers. How the last two got thrown into the equation because of Glen’s comments is beyond me.

Ironic that someone who works for the same network that employs Keith Olbermann is bitching about Fox News not considering strident comments to be fireable offenses.
Bias? Double-standard? Perhaps. I’d like to see what Chuck Todd thinks about Olbermann routinely calling people racist and repeatedly calling Bush a war criminal.

I think is funny when a white person calls a black man racist like they know what racism is
liberal343 on July 29, 2009 at 10:38 PM
I watched MSNBC ALL DAY.
All they could talk about was Beck. Beck beck beck. Chris Matthews called Beck “obama’s bad guy” EVERY SINGLE primetime program led with beck, and had a wrap-up segment on beck.
Every guest was a lib and said beck was racist.
ONE REDEEMING MOMENT:
on Hardball, the washington posts lady was screeching about beck saying “why do we care what he thinks?” and chris matthews (irritated at her for different reasons) snapped back “more people watch glenn beck than read your newspaper”, to which she just sat there with big eyes and then said “um, SO WHAT????”
it was beautiful. matthews, for all of his psycho-analyzing the racial code of white southerners, smacked down a newspaper elite.
(BTW: NONE OF THE MSNBC folks brought up the fact that obama sat in wright’s church for 20 years. NONE of them. NONE of the politico-esque hack guests mentioned it. imagine that!)

The thing that struck me the most was that NBC said that the White House wouldn’t comment, even anonymously. They didn’t need to, NBC took care of it for them. And the part about “actual” journalists is to funny. Is it possible that they don’t realize that they are shills for this administration? Nope, I don’t think so.

The truth hurts, huh? I guess, once you have an official inauguration speaker get up and say that things will be better “when white embraces what’s right”, when you get an AG who says that we are a “nation of cowards”, when you have a pastor who hates whites and AMerica, when you have a book titled after one of that pastor’s speeches, filled with stories of how bad and nasty and evil white people are … you’ve got to expect that someone is going to understand what is really going on with The Precedent. PMSNBC might try to hide the obvious all they want, but the people are realizing what is going on and they are going to get pretty ticked at those scumbags in the media who pushed this America-hating racist onto the nation. It was clear from the beginning that he was out for revenge against whites, the successful and the West and the MSM hid that at their own peril.
Now, after the Sotomayor fiasco and that obvious racial grievance mongering over that turd, Gates, I don’t think anyone with a brain has any question where The Precedent stands – though many are still too scared to say it. The MSM had better start looking for hiding places, because the people are not going to be all too happy about having had that propaganda fed to them during the campaign.
BTW, what are the chances of the Khalidi tape seeing the light of day any time in the next couple of months?

Yes, the media is beginning to circle and fire at one another in such laughable ways that its become impossible to view ANY cable news network as having any sort of credibility.
But Beck is a loose cannon to say the least. He does not thoughtfully consider everything he says…
that there are people out there who mold their worldview around taking what guys like Beck and Levin and Coulter say is pretty maddening, though the fact that people hold anyone on MSNBC in the same light is arguably just as maddening (though at least they keep their tempers down more often than FOX).
Discourse and rhetoric is at an all time low in this country. Maybe we really are fat hedonist Rome at its most atrocious cultural peak…ripe for a total takedown.

Glenn Beck connects with people that are fed up with washington (both parties) and want common sense.
That’s it. Plain and simple.
Sure, he uses gimmicks (like wearing hitler-youth-like leiderhosen the other day when talking about ‘required’ americorps), but he’s not a partisan, and i think he is a voice for people that don’t see themselves speaking on tv much (ie, not a partisan hannity or matthews).
he has a ceiling, of course, in that he’ll turn some off, but for those he reaches, he’s vastly important.

Beck explained what he meant by “racist” this morning at the top of the 2nd hour of his radio program. He also made a lengthy case justifying what he said. It was over 20 minutes of Obama quotes, Michelle quotes, Obama’s pick for the green jobs czar, Wright, etc. It was impressive and persuasive. All I’ve read arguing against Beck, however, is how “crazy” he is. He’s made his case, but those who disagree have yet to make theirs.

They’re using Alinski’s rule #12 on Beck…
RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

jencab on July 29, 2009 at 11:00 PM
I enjoy the guys at Powerline but they are more analytical (as you would expect from a bunch of lawyers) and tend to get queasy at any sign of emotion. Glenn Beck is 100% emotion so to say that he makes them uncomfortable would be a gross understatement. I would be willing to bet they feel the same, but wouldn’t say so, about Rush, Mrs. Malkin, and most other pundits on the Right. Dr. Bennett is probably the only talk show host they would endorse if asked but they hope no one asks.

hmfearny on July 29, 2009 at 11:02 PM
Acknowledging that The Precedent is out to exact revenge on whites is the heart of the issue. I’ve been talking about this for a long time, here, as it was made obvious long ago. The Precedent’s view on capital gains taxes said everything one needed to know about his motivations. He said that, even if raising capital gains taxes would reduce receipts to the government, he would still raise them because “it’s an issue of fairness” [paraphrased from memory]. This one little bit was enough to let anyone know that The Precedent is motivated by a desire to inflict pain on those he felt deserved it, than on helping any poor or downtrodden folks. He didn’t care one whit for the others, since he would slap that tax on, and hurt all, just to inflict the pain necessary for “fairness”. His anti-white feelings have been obvious from the start, with thousands of examples around.
There is no way to be above this fray. It is what it is. Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. Everyone needs to call The Precedent what he is, so he knows that he isn’t fooling anyone.
progressoverpeace on July 29, 2009 at 11:02 PM

LOL. Get a brain. Or, at least stop advertising the fact that you’re missing one.

So prejudging a white cop based only on the color of the cop’s skin isn’t racist?

Does anyone with a brain think obama isn’t a racist? Gee, that Jeremiah Wright was a real nice fellow, I’m so glad the president sat there for 20 years listening to his hateful rants and was never in the least affected by it.
That’s just for starters. You’ve heard this all before, even during the campaign. Obama is a racist bigot. Nothing can be done about it now anyway, just so everyone remembers it in 2012.
Only racists will vote for him. How’s that for brotherly love?

yup. and the more times the left whines about this ON TELEVISION the more times people watching will say to themselves “wait a second, barack sat in a church for 20 years that was obsessed with elevating blacks over ‘evil’ whites, right? maybe this beck guy has a point…?”
I’ve heard a million people say it, so I’ll say it again:
what does it say about President Obama when, after hearing the words “God D-mn America”, his first thoughts are “that preacher should baptize my baby girls!!!!”

That’s worth repeating.
Any comment from the troll/liberal343?

The guy has so incredibly much talent and drive. Up from the gutter to #2 on cable and #3 on talk radio in just a few years. Not to mention the best-selling books, the roadshows.
He’s resonating with someone…
That would be me.
