Rasmussen: Majorities believe ObamaCare will raise costs, lower quality of treatment
posted at 4:03 pm on July 28, 2009 by Allahpundit
Alternate headline: “Majorities now believe exact opposite of what Obama’s been telling them.” Good work, champ.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 47% are in favor of the reform effort proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats while 49% are opposed. Those figures include 25% who Strongly Favor the plans and 41% who are Strongly Opposed…
Currently, 76% of Democrats favor the proposal and 76% of Republicans are opposed. Among the unaffiliated, 35% are in favor and 60% are opposed. Notably, just 16% of unaffiliateds Strongly Favor the legislative effort while 47% Strongly Oppose it…
At this time, voters are skeptical about the ability of the reform effort to help control the cost of health care. Just 23% believe passage of the reform legislation will lead to lower health care costs. Most voters (53%) say it will lead to higher costs, while 18% expect prices to remain about the same…
By 50% to 23% margin, voters expect that passage of the congressional health care reform bill will cause the quality of care to go down.
They can’t crack 23 percent on the questions of whether Obama will lower costs or improve care — and yet 76 percent of Democrats still support the proposal? Now that’s partisanship we can believe in. Meanwhile, unsurprisingly, The One’s approval ratings dip ever further towards negative territory even in Gallup: He’s down to 54 percent there and bound to sink below 50 if the Senate pisses off the left by kinda sorta killing the public plan. Prescient exit quotation from Rich Lowry, writing this morning before the credibility-busting Rasmussen numbers were released: “Obama’s plan is becoming one of the most implausible and thoroughly discredited free lunches in American history.”

What a strange statistical coincidence: that’s almost exactly the same percentage of Democrats who don’t pay any Federal income taxes.

But the CBO just came out with new numbers that show that an un-Constitutional federal government foray into health insurance will now save money!!
The sun is shining, again, and all it took was one criminal meeting between The Precedent and the head of the CBO.
That’s why Elmendorf should have been fired the minute he compromised his position with his idiotic trek to the White House. This junta in Washington is pathetic and criminal.

Obama Health Dictatorship
Those who vote for it want in on our kill. They will dismiss our voices just as they did on Stimulus. Only this time, its literally our flesh, blood and bone they want.
Obama’s abuse of powers has gone monolithic.
Those who support Obama do so in direct contradiction to constituent well being. Those who vote with Obama expect to do away with opposition, one way or another with coercion.

They have no choice. This is Obama’s SIGNATURE program even though he has no part in writing it (anyone who believes he’s had no input, I have have a bridge in San Francisco Bay for sale). Barry can claim he didn’t write PORK I, he just signed it because it was, you are aware, AN EMERGENCY! But Barry has been front and center pushing for health care reform as being needed NOW! (NOTE: He’s come close, but hasn’t screamed EMERGENCY! of late). You haven’t heard him push for Crap & Tax lately. It’s stuck in the Senate. Barry has put all his marbles of getting health care through before August. Now he’s all bluster because as the dog days of summer drag on, it’s less likely he’ll get what he wants. And if that happens, he’ll be forced to double down on Crap & Tax. He really wants to go to Copenhagen as an environmental hero. If he gets knocked down on both issues, he’ll still bluster – he’s a past master at that. But he’ll end up a 3 year lame-duck.
GarandFan on July 28, 2009 at 4:38 PM
The fix is in. We’ll be getting ObamaCare Lite as defined by the “bi-partisan” group of traitors on the Senate Finance Committee. Now that the CBO is falling in line, ObamaCare Lite will pass in September, despite the majority will of the American People against it.
We’ve gone from a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, to a government of the elite. Washington cares not what the people think, because there are enough stupid people to vote Democrat, and no strong opposition, causing Conservatives to splinter. Only once the people actually fight back (a la the Tea Party Movement) and start throwing the elites out of office will we take back our government.

Democrats embody that stock comedy routine in which someone is so hell-bent-for-leather on sticking with his way of doing things that he endure any amount of hardship and misfortune before admitting he’s dead wrong.
But what can conservatives do? Sixty percent of independents are apparently experiencing profound buyer’s remorse. But Dems can stick their noses in the air and tell independents, “We won, and elections have consequences.”
Sigh.

AARP staffers are just like members of Congress, they could give a big damn about the folks, its all about them and the cronies they support. If we only had an honest media in this country, the ignorant would get good advise and not depend on the crooks who promise them that their mortgages will be paid, gas will get cheap, free health insurance for everyone, free education for everyone and entitlements for for all illegal immigrants irregardless of any circumtances. What leadership we have in the democrats and the so called free press in this country. It is sickening. Lowry is right. Obama has lost all credibility by telling us what is in the bill is really not what is in the bill. He just lies. The statute of limitations is getting shorter and shorter on everything he says.
The AARP is favoring this junk. They are selling out seniors in the name of senior lobbying! Seniors in AARP: wise up and get out before you’re five year counseling session tells you to just take this little pill and die.
24% Republicans favor this? Guess this must be Colin Powell, Meghan McCain and all the other RINOs that stand for big government.
Christian Conservative on July 28, 2009 at 6:36 PM
Strange that 25 percent more Independents disapprove of Obamacare than approve of it, and dems and republicans are tied at 76 percent for and against, yet that results in just a two point difference in the polling numbers. Where democraps are concerned liars figure and figures lie. The only way the democraps can get to this bald faced lie figure is to undercount republicans by a third or more.

A friend of mine sent along an analysis of some of the most egregious elements of Obamacare presently touted by the Democrats:
A Few Highlights of the Healthcare Bill
This gives the government absolute power over your healthcare and how your healthcare dollars are spent (on other people).
Is this what you really want?
Be careful what you wish for.
Before you answer see pages 170, 195, 425 and 429
• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!
• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!
• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)
• Page 42: The “Health Choices Commissioner” will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.
• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.
• Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.

• Page 425: Government provides approved list of end-of-life resources, guiding you in death.
• Page 427: Government mandates program that orders end-of-life treatment; government dictates how your life ends.
• Page 429: Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment as patient’s health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life plans. An ORDER from the GOVERNMENT.
• Page 430: Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at end-of-life.
• Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government intervenes in your marriage.
• Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining, creating and rationing those services.
Wow! Talk about political paybacks.
And these are just the highlights. Prepare for absolute government power over your healthcare.
This is some scary sh!t.
