Open thread: Michelle launches “Culture of Corruption” on Hannity; Update: Video added

posted at 8:40 pm on July 27, 2009 by Allahpundit

9 p.m. ET on FNC, of course. We open a thread every time The One belches up a “let me be clear” or “as I have consistently said” in primetime so we owe the boss at least that much. If you’re watching — and you should be — sound off below. This is one of five or six TV appearances she has scheduled this week, incidentally; there’s one guest shot tomorrow that’s especially intriguing but I’m afraid I can’t tease it more than that. Stay tuned.

Here’s the Amazon page in case you haven’t ordered already. I’ll update this post with video later.

Update: As promised, the boss in the spotlight:

I’ve read a couple of Michelle’s previous books — they are always extremely well researched and well written. I’m sure this one is no different.

Does anyone here actually like Hannity (the show or the man)?

Abby Adams on July 27, 2009 at 9:30 PM

Hannity was absolutely right about Obama, Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers. Pushed it more than any other conservative including Rush. Now we’re seeing that indeed our President is a socialist and his ratings are plummeting. If people had listened to Hannity instead of crossing him off as some shrill extremist, we’d have Palin as VP.
Further, I think Hannity is a man of good character. My only complaint is that he talks more than his conservative guests.

Does anyone here actually like Hannity (the show or the man)?

Abby Adams on July 27, 2009 at 9:30 PM

Moot. That’s like asking people in the neighborhood if any of them like your pit-bull attack dog — or the way that he launches himself at passers-by. (Not that I, personally, would EVER own such a vicious animal.) Better questions would be more like “Does the attack dog do his job well? Is he out of control? How much does he eat? Does it cost a lot of money to own one?”

My collie says:

Don’t you think that they pay Hannity WAY too much money for what he does?

Now THERE’s an intelligent question.

I hope she comes out with a full deck of them. Sort of like Saddam’s thugs — very appropriate — and more card players might suddenly get an education as to what’s going on.

Christian Conservative on July 27, 2009 at 10:31 PM

Hannity as a man is a good guy, whom I would be honored to meet one day. He’s often cited as the most affable radio host people have met.

However, once Colmes left, the show has sucked. The fun was the balance, regardless of Jon Stewart’s “revelation” about shows like Crossfire. The two sides forcing each other to lay out all they had made it enjoyable. It’s fine on a radio show, where you have a good chance of callers offering questions or arguments. Not so much on a news network. Just my opinion.

The Boss is hot, both in looks and takedowns. Guaranteed to be the only network where you hear about IG oustings.

However, as she rejects Those Who Seek The Truth, I cannot possibly see her as anything but a traitor to conservatism, a destroyer of the Constitution, and The Ultimate and Uber Suppressor of The Truth. Alex Jones said so.

Watched the first few and saw a bubble starting to form.

I would have liked to see Hannity add Kristin Powers to the show.Would have made for great, well rounded commentary.

jgapinoy on July 27, 2009 at 10:38 PM

Michelle, is of course, right as usual. I’ve been mostly poor throughout my 64 years, and have had ample opportunity to hear the unending and unchanging arguments of the Left.

It’s always been clear, somehow, that there was a fundamental disconnect between the message these folks were preaching (and there’s no other word for it) and their actions. In my latter life I’ve been fortunate to have as a good friend a woman whose entire life has been spent in study, and she’s led me to reading which makes it apparent that the Left has been corrupt since its inception in the French Revolution, which was fomented by wealthy intellectual elites on the order of Denis Diderot and François-Marie Arouet (Voltaire,) who had no other interest in the poor beyond using the Little People as cannon fodder in their endless hair-pulling with other members of the Academy.

It must be relentlessly pointed out that Karl Marx was another child of privilege, who pontificated endlessly from his pulpit about the sanctity (and sanctitude) of the working class. In this century we’ve seen FDR, JFK and now the 0bamas all carried through life on a silken pillow of entitlement.

None of this is new. Good for Michelle for taking it to ‘em.

I can take Hannity or leave him. Sometimes he’s good, other times he’s over the top. Colmes was/is a farce. If I want the DNC talking points, I can go to their web site and read them myself. I don’t need some pseudo-intellectual spouting them for me.

Abby Adams on July 27, 2009 at 9:30 PM

He grates on my nerves… but he gets the best guests. Thanks for letting me vent…

He’s a talentless time-slot hit, broken record. If he said “I voted for the 88 billion before I voted against it” one more time in 2004, I was going to have to go to NY and rip out his tongue… he kept saying it weeks after the election.

THEN he started with the “have you seen the map!” crapola with the county voting map. It’s a silly, meaningless map. He uses the “thrill up the leg” and the “first time I’m proud of my country” lines 100x a day.

I just don’t find him to be very bright. When he speaks on issues of religion and faith he reaches the level that O’Reilly reaches (gross ignorance). His embarrassing “LIB-ER-AL” translation segments have to be written by 15-year-olds.

BUT, he’s like the lousy QB on your favorite team… you hope he does well ’cause he’s wearing the right uniform… but you’d trade him for more talent in a heartbeat.

I’d prefer the Krauthammer Hour with frequent guests Thomas Sowell, Michelle Malkin, Greg Mankiw, Michael Yon and Charles Payne, if it was up to me. But that might not exactly be ratings-topping TV and no doubt others here would have a different fantasy line-up.

Hannity’s OK I guess, but I agree that he was better with Colmes. He’s more than a little echo-chambery without him.

Gilda on July 27, 2009 at 11:02 PM

Agree with mankai – Hannity wears a bit thin. I catch radion show after Rush in my market, and have to turn off after fifteen minutes.

That said – man, did Michelle look great! Loved her hair!!!

Am ordering book – and I agree, want the CorruptoCards for my eleven year old – we would get a kick out of it.

catlady on July 27, 2009 at 11:05 PM

yeah, good luck with your book. I think you have perfect timing. When people are lifted up, they are usually hammered down. As high as they lifted Obama, there’s likely going to be a market for negative stuff about him.

I hope he succeeds as our president. . . but his ideas need more change than America does.

I’ll give you that Michelle Obama needed to use her status as Barack’s wife and David Axelrod’s dirty tricks to get the super liberal poor urban African-American community to agree to the Urban Health Initiative. But that doesn’t change the fact that the program itself makes sense. Despite being consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals in the country, the University of Chicago ER was a nightmare due to overcrowding. Again, the problem was that because many poor do not have primary care physicans, they go to the ER for non-life threatening issues like strep throats and ear infections. Getting those patients primary care physicans was the right thing to do – even if it hurts to admit MO might have done a good thing.

Further, the notion that a business cannot chose which services it wants to provide (in this case the choice is not to provide non-emergency care), especially when it’s in the interest of better quality of service (shorter wait times), is downright Communist.

I like the basic facts Sean uses most times to make his arguments, and as mentioned, he was way ahead of the curve with important information about Obama’s associations and his past in general. However, he repeats himself so much it is downright irritating, and his quickness to speak over others makes the show less interesting.

Great job Michelle!!! I will be picking up the book this week.

As far as Hannity goes, I like him. He seems like a nice guy, very likable. His new show is just ok. It’s watered down, not as hard hitting. I’d like more red meat. It looks like he is trying to diversify his guests, but unfortunately most of them are weak on the issues. Maybe he should do the Great American Panel just once a week, like on fridays. I DON’T miss Colmes.

Oh yeah, how could I forget, I hate the liberal translation segments. The worst part of the show.

artchick on July 28, 2009 at 12:27 AM

I would love it if Hannity had Michelle on more, maybe do a weekly segment. That would be cool.

Bravo Michelle! Count on me for 2 copies. I always feel more informed by your interviews and commentaries. I like Sean. His heart seems to be in the right place and he does well on the really big (presidential) interviews, etc., but I cant take the full 4 hours a day, too repetitive. My DH always comes in the door, smiles and tells me that “TONIGHT is going to be the best Hannity evah.” and we chuckle. But we respect what he is doing overall. But sometimes he is too wordy like with the questions to Levin last week I was yelling at him. I liked Greta’s style with Rush-they are talkers–let them talk. In any event though, Sean is lovable and glad he is on our side. Hope to see you on there more!

Michelle Malkin dose a excellent job, and plays a vital role, but she could easy play a larger role. I don’t know how old she is but she has great future in politics, hopefully as our President someday. Notice how the Libs are scared to trash her. If you attack her, she will reach into you and pull your heart and guts out and expose you as a fraud.
THANK YOU Michelle! We love you.

Ed Laskie on July 28, 2009 at 3:24 AM

Just got finished reading the three “hate filled” e-mail responses to her appearance that Michelle posted at her website. All of them seem to have one idea in common. The writers for some reason thought that Michelle’s ancestry somehow invalidated her opinions and ideas. If I remember correctly, Michelle is from Philadelphia. Isn’t that the cradle of American Democracy?

Tommy_G on July 28, 2009 at 3:45 AM

nationspatriotcom on July 28, 2009 at 5:29 AM

Hannity: are people starting to see that the One is not the “anointed One”?

Michelle: Yes. (implying he is not the anointed one)

Um, wrong. He IS the anointed one–just not anointed because of anything he’s ever done for most of Americans. Anointed in academia, anointed in Chicago, and anointed in the media for what he WILL do–which his team (with a lot of help) were able to keep “enough” Americans in the dark about leading up to November because they knew that his schtick wouldn’t sell if it became exposed.

I STILL miss “Vent”…

nationspatriotcom

Yes, me too. What did happen there? Was it too time-consuming to produce? Did she axe it because some bloggers egos were bruised by being overshadowed? If she told us why, I missed it.

From Michelle’s website:

Michelle Malkin you are a stupid asian BITCH.The only reason you are on t.v is because americans feel so so sorry for you.

It is obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about.

So go and sell your body some more.

So that you can send money back home to support your slummish asian family.

Michelle A.K.A undercover HORE.

That’s my kind of “hore”. Beautiful woman. I have ALWAYS loved the “oriental” look, and in fact, once followed an Asian girl three blocks out of my way (while walking). That’s my kind of girl.

I’d love to see that last frame of Michelle made into a stand-alone photo!

Michelle is lovely, smart, conservative, and lovely… it’s an intoxicating combination.

Her sex appeal is so high – that hair, those eyes, those lips, and that radiant smile – oooh lah lah. To top it all off, her intellect makes her absolutely deadly. It’s almost too much for a guy to take in at once. To say that she sends a thrill up my leg is putting it mildly.

Christian Conservative on July 27, 2009 at 10:17 PM

I agree that though he’s repetitive, he’s right, and is willing to go out on a limb when he knows he’s absolutely supported by the record. He’s willing to go further than others.

I love most dogs, and Hannity is like a good, healthy intelligent terrier. He’s willing and able to go into dark tunnels and under ground to dig out the culprit/vermin/varmint, willing to attack a larger enemy, and loyal to his principles. He truly loves America, Americans and our troops. His bark is not worse than his bite; both are very effective. Let the terrier guard you and deliver the death shake to his prey without scolding him.

The repetitive syndrome is a common malady of hosts and something talk show hosts can out grow. Rush has to a large degree. I remember when he was a broken record each broadcast. You catch the first half hour, you got it all. Limbaugh’s instinct for our Zeitgeist is his forte. But like our favorite immigrant from Canada who often substitutes for him, Rush could learn a thing or two about better broadcast presentation.

Give Hannity credit where due. Hannity actually has his staff RESEARCH; perhaps does the research himself, that other talk show hosts don’t do. Most hosts, whether radio or blog, wait for headlines from the MSM, and then simply react. Hannity makes headlines, and though he may not be the most educated, his instincts are sure and on the mark. You can count on Hannity. So just allow him the opportunity to finish maturing without kicking him. Turning on your own loyal friend is as low as humans go.

I was watching Michelle/Hannity yesterday and keep repeating to my teenage son”She’s one day older than I am. One. Day.”.
I also told him that Michelle proves that our generation has produced some brilliant conservatives.
Take that baby boomers.

American Power tracked-back with, “Michelle Malkin Launches Culture of Corruption on Sean Hannity (Gets Some Hate Mail in Response)”:

http://americanpowerblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/michelle-malkin-launches-culture-of.html

Donald Douglas on July 28, 2009 at 9:12 AM

So long as you have the goods on record, taking the fight to the enemy is a real “Bush Doctrine” though better attributed to Patton’s effectivity. GWB had great precedence for pre-emptive offensive-defense against terrorists.

The GOP attacks on the Democrats’ corruption wins landslide victories because conservatives have the goods on record, and the GOP attack is always premised by recorded facts.

The Democrats revise the records and fabricate their own whole cloth account for marketing propaganda, twisting and remaking “reality”. They usurped the culture of corruption effectively, aiming the charge against the progressive GOP, intentionally decimating support for conservatism amongst “independents”.

Michelle Malkin grabs the corruption charge and re-aims it right back at the Democrats. To date, there’s plenty of pork reported on in detail from intelligent conservative blogs, providing proven material for the publication. Malkin’s forte is garnering her own lobby.

As a rule of thumb for everyone, personalities get in the way, and turning on a competitor to burn at the stake for heresy isn’t becoming either a lady or a gentleman. But then, warriors aren’t ladies and gentlemen in war, but war fighters. Still, why waste ammo and weaken or limit your base of support and cause friendly fire by infighting with a different voice from within conservatism?

Malkin does her thing and doesn’t need to detract from Jones, and visa versa.

She’s on Beck’s TV show tonight.

Yep. What?!

Even the HotAir headline turned my head.
[Edit: rotate "On Hannity" to precede Michelle launches...
or insert "book"]

But, eh. Fun twist.
