In the bookstores today: Culture of Corruption

posted at 9:26 am on July 27, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Consider this the unofficial — but more accurate — program of the Barack Obama administration.  The boss’ new rundown of White House officials, the galaxy of czars, and community-organizer irregulars, Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks, and Cronies, hits the bookstores today, as well as the mailboxes of those who preordered it. How else will you discover the background of people like Urban Czar Adolfo Carrion, Health Czar Nancy DeParle, and the new ambassador to the court of St. James, Louis Susman?

Culture of Corruption is a great read; I’m about halfway through it and plan to finish it on my vacation. It also serves as a great reference guide to the Obama administration and its efforts to overhaul domestic and foreign policy. You can order it here, or really make an impact and buy it at your local bookstore. Michelle will be doing a lot of media over the next few weeks promoting the book, so be sure to keep an eye out for her appearances.

Update: Original links went to the Kindle edition; I’ve changed them to the hardcover edition instead.

I can’t wait to get my copy. I wish I had an autographed copy, though — any plans on that?

Ordering now. Has anyone seen the new approval index? It’s -10 now.

Time to go to Borders and be looked at like alien life again, like when I went to get “Liberty and Tyrrany”.

They have a habit of hiding conservative books so that you have to ask for them.

Going to B&N this weekend. Can’t wait for the looks.

BobK on July 27, 2009 at 9:33 AM

Been looking for a new political book, and this is the one!

Will be hitting up Barnes and Noble this afternoon (It’s out in the stores now I assume?)

Any news of a possible book signing tour within those “media appearances” upcoming?

BobK on July 27, 2009 at 9:33 AM

I know those “looks”…Whenever I’ve asked where the latest conservative book might be located, since they’re rarely out front on display, I get teh attitude from the staff.

JetBoy on July 27, 2009 at 9:35 AM

It has been available at Barnes & Noble for a week now. In fact, I’ve read quite a bit of it already. It has confirmed a lot of what I thought about Obama and his entourage, including Biden. It has also confirmed what I thought about Malkin. She remains in my eyes one of the best in the business.

Allahpundit tweeted last night he was having dinner with The Boss. So am guessing she’s in NYC (media capital) to do media appearances.

You’ll have to go to Second Life to see the author, if the fact that the book is a Kindle-only edition is any indication.

Obama is the Vulture of Corruption. He feeds on it.

“Hey, Michelle. Nice career you have there. It’d be a shame if anything happened to it.”

Vic on July 27, 2009 at 9:39 AM

Well, since we can now rule out Obama getting to where he is by qualifications, experience or smarts, there must have been SOMETHING else.

unclesmrgol on July 27, 2009 at 9:38 AM

Well, that was a stupid comment — considering the Amazon click-through on Malkin has the book (as secondary resources) in hardback and on audio CD. Ed, you might want to update the link to not reference the Kindle edition.

I suspect a lot of people are not about to buy a Kindle due to the 1984-ish aspects of Amazon’s control.

I expect she’d be on F&F this week then.

Dinner with AP, huh? Could be my chance to get a glimpse of the elusive Allah…haha, I’ll have to scope out the restaurant scene. When I find Michelle, the dude she’s with has to be AP!

Unless he’s cookin’ for her at home…

I think Allahpundit has admitted he doesn’t cook. He orders out a lot.

terryannonline on July 27, 2009 at 9:45 AM

Yeah, only liberals are allowed to work at book stores.

I went to B&N to buy a book on Chinese. The clerk asked me if I’m visiting China, and I said, “No. It’s just that if Obama spends a few trillion dollars more, we’ll all be speaking Chinese.”

Talk about “if looks could kill.”

Daggett on July 27, 2009 at 9:46 AM

I just read Common Sense and will start reading Mark Levin’s new book today. I will add this one to my list.
Ed, did you give an assist on this?

wildcat84 on July 27, 2009 at 9:32 AM

It’s like an Easter Egg hunt. Mark Levin’s book in the Children’s section next to Dr. Seuss, Michelle Malkin’s book in the cookbook section next to Joy of Tofu, etc. Think of it as a challenge.

The thing I find interesting is that conservative books sell very well. Liberal books, which there are more of, hardly sell at all. Why is that? Are liberals illiterate? Or is it that these books say nothing new or different and once you’ve got your own copy of the socialist manifesto or little red book you don’t need to go out and buy another.

highhopes on July 27, 2009 at 9:55 AM

Any chance of The Boss ever visiting her site again? She used to post on occasion, and we haven’t had a Vent in forever.

whitetop on July 27, 2009 at 10:07 AM

The strength of Obama (as with Clinton) is that the sheer volume of corruption is so massive that it makes your head spin. You can only concentrate on one scandal or problem for a few seconds before the next one comes along. Looking forward to buying a copy of this book.

MaiDee on July 27, 2009 at 10:09 AM

I am sure it will be reviewed on the Huffington com Post.

Think we could have a contest or something for a signed copy?

powerpro on July 27, 2009 at 10:12 AM

I predict it’s going to be a huge best-seller. Michelle Malkin is doing the job the Obamedia refused to do.

Gilda on July 27, 2009 at 10:18 AM

My copy is on the way to me from Amazon. After reading it, I am sure that having it as a reference book will be invaluable. The problem is that we have 3 more years of this guy and this could be just volume I. Michelle probably has another that is in the works. She sure is a patriot. It looks as if the ladies are the fighters this time around. That’s OK. Washington and the media needs cleaning out and it’s the women that understand it. Very few red-blooded American politians have stood up. It is a monunemtal job, but everyone needs to help.

BetseyRoss on July 27, 2009 at 10:21 AM

Has there ever been a leftist anything that wasn’t constructed of corruption?

BuckeyeSam on July 27, 2009 at 10:47 AM

Waiting impatiently for a book signing near me.

montekimb on July 27, 2009 at 10:50 AM

Pre-ordered mine to download to my Kindle. Should be there waiting on me when I’m able to sit down with it later today. Can’t wait!!

MaggieMae on July 27, 2009 at 11:06 AM

Still need Levine’s book too. . . not so much in the mood to read political right now, but HAVE to support my peeps! Plus, this will be the first time for me reading Michelle in long format. I look forward to ploppin’ down a few bucks today on both.

I just wonder if during her media tour to promote this book, will MM boycott Glenn Beck?

I have to ask given Allahpundit’s huge, sarcastic anti-Glenn bias.

Got an e-mail today from Borders Books.”Culture of Corruption” is on their recommended reading list for the month.Maybe the Commie bookstore is starting to realize that all those “obama is great” books ain’t helping the bottom line.
Congrats to the boss.Michelle, you are an inspiration to us all.

Amazon has already shipped the 5 copies that I ordered. What say you, collie?

My collie says:

One of the things that I really like about Michelle Malkin’s books is that she doesn’t take any prisoners in them.

My collie — HotAir’s very own Lawrence of Arabia.

CyberCipher on July 27, 2009 at 1:53 PM

My copy from Amazon is on the way as well. I missed her on Hannity radio this afternoon, looking forward to her appearance on cable tonight.

Best of luck Michelle, I hope it produces record sales (and profits)!
