Birthermania: House Democrat to introduce resolution on Obama being born in Hawaii
posted at 6:04 pm on July 27, 2009 by Allahpundit
Another time-wasting resolution in the House, but unlike McCotter’s, this one’s at least smart politics. How many Republicans will choke on it?
The measure Abercrombie will introduce commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. But here’s the rub, his spokesman tells me: It describes Hawaii as Barack Obama’s birthplace.
“In the language of the resolution, there is a statement that Hawaii is the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States,” Abercrombie spokesman Dave Helfert confirms.
That confronts House GOPers with a choice: They can vote for the measure, and endorse the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, which could earn the wrath of birthers. Or they can vote against commemorating the 50th state’s joining of our blessed Union. Or GOPers can skip the vote, but that could look nutty.
“Far be it from us to try to stir things up,” Helfert said puckishly.
Dude, what if Ron Paul votes yes? Would that mean Birtherism’s too kooky even for the rEVOLution? Exit question: There’s going to be a full-fledged “Produce the Birth Certificate” third party once 2012 rolls around, isn’t there? And when they’re not allowed to participate in any of the televised debates, they’re going to whine forever.

No, it’s “Not valid” because
A) it clearly says “certifiCATION of live birth” when the URL says “birth certificate”. which is it?
B) it was first posted at DailyKos. DAILYKOS. has any hawaii govt rept ever been quoted as saying that’s legit? show me the ap, reuters, upi story that says so.
C) if i scanned my certification of live birth on a laptop and walked into the DMV would they give me a license if i pointed to the screen? (before you answer, you might remember this industry out there called “notaries” that might take issue with you)
D) if i took in a REAL colb into the dmv in honolulu, they wouldn’t give me a driver’s license based on lack of proof. so why is your reposting an online, mislabeled, dailykos-gathered, “certification” proof of anything? you might as well post pictures of that guy dressed up like peter pan and call it obama’s presidential portrait.
battleoflepanto1571 on July 27, 2009 at 8:28 PM
Actually, a couple of weeks ago NASA (a government agency, not to be confused with the St. Pete Times, Annenberg or Snopes) released new pictures from their latest toy, the lunar orbiter. They have excellent pics of all Apollo landing sites, some of which even show the footprints on the lunar surface.

Pablo on July 27, 2009 at 8:32 PM
Did you call that phone number I gave you?….the one of the Honolulu Police Dept. You were going to call them and let them know that all their drivers are driving with illegal licenses.
You are the one that said COLB’s are not legal to obtain a drivers license, and since that was the only Birth Certificate given all those drivers have to be illegal.
Anyway, let me know what the police dept. said to you…I want to know, I think you are a hero for discovering this.
Thanks, and I bet the Hawaiian police thank you also…

The above post, by someone who has posted dozens, if not huundreds of there’s nothing here folks comments illustrates the dilemma face by the rationalists in trying to communicate with the dubious proofers.
Mr Good Lt wants to know if anyone has invalidated Obama’s certificate of live birth. The answer of course is that no one has seen Obama’s certificate of live birth. That is what we are demanding.
Perhaps before you started embarrassing yourself Good Lt (by referring to us due dilgencers as birthers) you might have taken the time to learn the difference between a certificate of live birth and a certification of live birth.

I love the Clinton defense: The Clintons are so awesome in checking shit like this out. There’s no way her campaign missed this. And McCain was looking too. I mean they prolly even hired Dog and Beth Chapman, those bounty-hunter, red necks from Hawaii to get all over it. If Clinton and McCain couldn’t get the dirt, that proves ONE™ is one of those natural borns…despite the fact that both Hill and Mav couldn’t run a campaign worth a shit.
But hey, that’s good enough proof to be president. You wanna play some Little League baseball, well you gotta be a little more document heavy.
Just imagine if the Internet didn’t exist and what the resulting damage would have been with the forged TANG documents. The normal course would have been: Rather/CBS runs the story**The MSM pushes it further=Bush loses election. Anyone objecting or call a conspiracy would have been called some mocking name like
birtherTANGER and the whole scam would have worked.PC14 on July 27, 2009 at 8:33 PM
The same NASA that faked the moon landing in the first place is now providing “new pictures” showing the moon lander on the moon?
Nice try, but no one is stupid enough to buy that story.

Already demolished. Factcheck is run by the Annenberg Institute, who hired a young O’bama as a community organizer in Chicago many years ago. They have no interest in tainting his legacy.

Hey, look what I found…guess you are wrong.
right2bright on July 27, 2009 at 8:36 PM
Actually, they have.
Just because they didn’t fax you the original or air mail it to you doesn’t mean that it wasn’t produced.
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 8:38 PM
Well, O’bama won 70 percent of the high school dropout vote, not the other way around. Thanks for playing!
BTW, if Keef Olbermann’s network, and I use the term loosely, says the new lunar oribter snapped pics of the landing sites, I will believe them. Have you no dignity, sir?

Ha, you fell for that old trick?
Does NASA want to increase their budget, or decrease their budget?
Does NASA want to be respected, or ridiculed for pulling off the most famous “stunt” in modern history?
If NASA faked it, they can continue to fake it…not until someone flies up their, like Ron Paul, and photographs it for themselves…and at no time have the camera leave their possesion…will I began to believe…of course Ron Paul has to show me his birth certificate, the original from Mars…

Bullsh*t.

Just like the HA commenters who don’t just accept this as the most important conspiracy theory the nation has ever encountered and who are “suppressing” the information “everyone” REALLY wants to know.

Wow, students, now it is citing Google as a “legitimate” news source. Google is run by Leftists, and has censored conservative sites regularly. They also include in “Google News” such “news sources” as DailyKAOS and Puggington Host.

you are INSANE
you have posted this same argument, which is moronic, all day.
i never said drivers licenses are ILLEGAL…. i said walking in with a short form colb (the cute dailykos wordpress image from the last page) is insufficient.
it means: 100% of hawaiian drivers either showed birth certificates, passports, military ids, etc. ,etc., etc…. but 0% of them show a COLB to get a license.
so stop posting “DID YOU CALL THE POLICE ABOUT ILLEGAL DRIVERS LOL”…. i didnt say drivers were illegal, i said barack (based on his short form colb) isnt able to get one with it.
sheesh, you never learn.

Me and I have a Hawaiian Certification of Factual Stupidly or HCFS to prove it. I’d even post it for all to see but I’m just to stupid to handle the complex job of posting a picture.
jmarcure on July 27, 2009 at 8:45 PM
Sorry, Puffington Host.
Some final questions to our sleeper cells here, as I am on my way out (back later)-
1. In 2004, your side demanded, and even sued the White House, for all of the evil Bush’s military records. You then happily ignored it when his opponent refused to release all of his military records to the public. Why the double standard?
2. If O’bama’s Republican opponent had claimed to be born somewhere but then refused to show his BC to prove it, would you give him the same pass you are giving to O’bama? That’s all I ask.
Del Dolemonte on July 27, 2009 at 8:47 PM
So information like this (its veracity totally ignored), which is inconvenient to Birther conspiracy fantasies, is automatically invalid because…well, it doesn’t support the conspiracy fantasy and it came from some source that has a secret motivation not to criticize Obama (even though the source actually does).
OK, I’ll play. What about this source? Any hazy “connection” to Obama?
I’m sure you’ll find one – completely ignoring the reported evidence because it’s, well, inconvenient.
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 8:47 PM
That may be the most asinine thing I’ve read all day, and I’ve read quite a few asinine things today. It’s also factually deficient, but I see that it would be a waste of my time to explain that.

NASA actually destroyed some of the original moonwalk images. Why? To save money
Del Dolemonte on July 27, 2009 at 8:49 PM
every time this comes up I get the Sinking Feeling that it’s a trap. This is why I don’t take sides.
As long as it stays on internet forums where only interested persons go to debate it, the controversy won’t hurt anyone.
But a proven technique in politics is to tar your opponent with the Nutjob label and link them to what the public ( rightly or wrongly ) perceives as extremism or hysteria
LBJ did this against Goldwater with the ‘countdown’ TV commercial in 1964–probably the first really effective TV political ad–and similar tactics worked on various occasions since then
Janos Hunyadi on July 27, 2009 at 8:49 PM
Moron.
I even Googled “Obama Birth Certificate” and hit “Images” for you to show you that there are a multitude of places where you can go to find the image and the information you are “seeking.”
You’re just ignoring it because you don’t like it and you’ve tripled-down on this stupid conspiracy fantasy. Too late to pull back now, isn’t it?

Which is not a community organizer gig. And Annenberg was a pretty solid guy, who happens to have pissed a 50 million down that particular rathole. That Obama was involved with that failure says nothing about other Annenberg projects. Unless you’re a conspiracy theorist, in which case it speaks volumes…of gibberish.
Pablo on July 27, 2009 at 9:03 PM

doriangrey on July 27, 2009 at 9:05 PM
Jesus Christ and humpty dumpty this is stupid. Why won’t they cut the shit and just release the long form so we can get this over with? Its like waving a treat in front of a dog, they get impatient and then they seem rabid with excitement. They keep waving the fact that they have not released the long form in front of their noses, then there are these other rumors that an Obama relative said she saw him born in Kenya, then they flubbed the hospital location once and these birthers aren’t going to give up until they see the long form certificate, at least a few will lay down their arms and come back to their senses. It would be nice to end this crazy nonsense, but between this and the Gates-gate episode, I am upping the threat level to orange because bad stuff seems to happen when we are arguing over nonsensical bullshit.
LevStrauss on July 27, 2009 at 9:05 PM

doriangrey on July 27, 2009 at 9:06 PM
So what does make a source “valid” to a conspiracy theorist – especially if the source is information inconvenient for the conspiracy?
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:06 PM
Yes, but which conspiracy?
doriangrey on July 27, 2009 at 9:07 PM
They like making the dog look foolish. They’re laughing, and they’re getting it all on tape, probably for submission to America’s Funniest Conspiracy Theories.
Pablo on July 27, 2009 at 9:08 PM
Two reasons.
First, this has been released (to the chagrin of many Birthers), and it’s valid, and it’s already shot the conspiracy down.
Second, even if the “long form” were produced, it would be alleged to be a “fraud” because Obama produced it, and anything related to his birth that he produces is fraudulent.
Round and round we go.

Good LT. You don’t get it or perhaps you just pretend not to. The document posted by Fact Check is a Certification of Live Birth, even though they cluelessly refer to it as his Original Birth Certificate. It’s not. I didn’t ask you if it did – I asked you who the attending nurses were. You act like that’s information people just produce on a daily basis and know off the tops of their heads. It isn’t, and not being able to rattle it off isn’t “proof” of anything.
Second, I know the difference between the two documents. The one that has been produced is legitimate, and the other one was reportedly lost in the transfer from paper to digital records by the HI Dept. of Health in 2001.

I forget. I think it had something to do with mocking Birther nutjobs. I use Internet Explorer though, so I can’t be sure.
Hollowpoint on July 27, 2009 at 9:40 PM
Good Lt, you amaze me.
I have never known anyone who could hear the same information given to him in so many different ways by so many people and still doesn’t get it.
A computer image is not the same thing as a 3D document. A computer image is not legal to prove anything.
I can show any old thing I want to my drinking buddies in a back room somewhere. I can even have them take photos of something, put it in Photoshop, make all kinds of interesting changes to it, and post it on the internet. But that doesn’t mean that I have documented anything. Especially I haven’t documented anything legally.
Do you understand that? Tell me right now what driver’s license, job application, draft registration, school registration, health insurance claim, marriage license, divorce decree, whatever…. you were able to get by showing your buddy in a back room a document and having him post it online for you to tell the officials to look at?
I am dead serious. Your whole argument this whole time has been that what he has shown us is enough. I’m sorry, but he hasn’t shown ME a dang thing. What he has shown is the equivalent of a Globe photo showing a 200-headed Michael Jackson eloping with St Joan of Arc. Would you take that as gospel truth? Why or why not?
And I am serious. This is not a facetious question. EVERY argument you’ve made hinges on that level of documentation. Of COURSE we know that the 200-headed Michael Jackson showed the Globe writers that he was eloping with St Joan of Arc. They said so.
Only a conspiracy theorist would disbelieve somethign in the Globe – and they wouldn’t come around even if we showed them a NATIONAL ENQUIRER photo of a 200-headed Michael Jackson eloping with St Joan of Arc!! They’ll say, “Well, if Michael Jackson has 200 heads, then why doesn’t he just show us all?” Morons. They make all us other intellectual, credible people look like idiots.
So please answer the question. Do you get this concept?

Here’s a novel idea… How about you quit treating people who want to see the US Constitution observed as if they were brain damaged 4 year olds… Oh wait that’s never going to happen, you chose OBAMA over the US Constitution…. Go to he11 a$$hole…

Yeah, you just have the White House Press Secretary calling you a bunch of loons on every news broadcast in America and several others around the world. What could go wrong?

I know plenty of people like that. They’re called conspiracy theorists, and in the case of these threads, Birthers.
Here’s what they don’t get:
1. There has been NO REFUTATION – ZERO, ZIP, NADDA, NEIN, ZILCH, GOOSE-EGG, NON – NO REFUTATION offered by Birthers of the COLB that has been widely circulated by media and other outlets. Without refuting this document or invalidating it, there is no further conspiracy. That’s it. The end. The document proving what you’re asserting has no proof or verifiability is valid, and therefore, your conspiracy invalid.

I have asked this before, I will ask it again. Where does it say that COLB is required for certification. If that is what you want to see call your rep and get an amendment going,

They were dead wrong on “Born Alive Baloney”. I e-mailed the authors 4 different times a few weeks apart explaining that they got it totally wrong and gave them the legal reference which proved my case. I asked for a retraction. I showed them that newspapers around the country were quoting their inaccurate information.
Nada. They totally lied for Obama even though they had the facts right at their disposal.
Another case: They posted a photo of a COLB whose “seal” stayed round even when the page it was on was folded and placed at an angle to the camera. As a “close-up” of that seal they posted a relief view of a different document. But they said it was all one 3D document.
Oh, and they put the Photoshopped 2007 seal and 2007 registrar’s stamp on a document with a 2008 border. Having all 3 authenticating marks changed yearly is a security feature to snag unwitting forgers. Like Factcheck.
