I do and will at times try to reign in others. At times I push back, or deflect, or avoid, or insert humor, or attempt to build bridges, or take other approaches. I will not deny myself any ethically acceptable tools on my mission, including reversing myself when I decide I’ve been wrong. However I do respect your opinion, so please feel free to smack me when you believe I am not posting helpfully. Of course, in return, I might push back…
And now, I must sign off and hope to exchange views with you again another day. Please take good care of yourself, and be sure to change your oil and filter regularly. Thanks for a good evening of good companionship.
Good night, good morning and have a good day.

OT but …
Is there any particular reason why HotAir.com, AOSHQ, NationalReviewOnline.com and some other conservative news sites chose not to cover Palin’s speech AT ALL when cable news sites not only aired the but then discussed the implications.
I gotta say, I’m extremely disappointed. Why the blackout folks?

I think we use the word that begins with the letter “r” to mean diffent thimgs. I am going to go with rein on this one.
Rein: harness: control and direct with or as if by reins; “rein a horse”
Reign: a period during which something or somebody is dominant or powerful; “he was helpless under the reign of his egotism”
Good night Lox.

And yet, that is his name and the one he used to be sworn into office.
The only offense appears to have been that he doesn’t like anyone saying his name, or his handlers don’t.
Like Mohammad, for example, who had the same irritation with people addressing him or showing his likeness.
Lourdes on July 27, 2009 at 4:04 AM
Uh…not sure why that’s relevant, sport.
That’s a video from a speech at a picnic on Saturday. What I’m talking about is Gov. Palin’s farewell to Alaska speech and the turnover to Gov. Parnell.
CNN had a freakin’ countdown to the event fcol and this didn’t even deserve “The Obligatory Palin Is Now Unleashed Video” post here? It wasn’t worth even a mention at NRO or Ace or MichelleMalkin or the Weekly Standard?

I think that writer is stretching more then slightly Rush’s comments on the birther stuff. Rush is a commentator, that’s what he does. He has hardly pursued this as something important. What no one ever seems to discuss is that barry’s father was married and had a wife in kenya. Doesn’t that make his marriage to barry’s barely of age mother illegitimate? And for that matter, if she was eighteen when barry was born and you back up that 9 months, how old was she when he impregnated her? How old was she when they were “married”? Were they really married? Baldilocks, who says barry is from her tribe, says barry doesn’t look any thing like her tribe. Was barry’s dad, a commie friend in the circle that her grandfather hung out in, doing his commie buddy a favor giving legitimacy to the bastard child of his friends slut daughter? Why do the democrats only have the illegitimate children of sluts to put up for president?
peacenprosperity on July 27, 2009 at 6:36 AM
Why cover something just to follow a pack of dogs down a well used trail. This blog exists to point out bias and discrepancies in the media and talk politics amongst Republicans. If everyone else is covering it, why do we want to hear it on Hot Air also? This isn’t a newspaper. It is a forum that discusses why stupid people on the Left have to lie to get their point across. It points out where the Left uses hatred and distortion to destroy people they are afraid of.
And I don’t think Allah and Ed intend to follow their lead or lie about Lefties just to get traffic. Its about hypocrisy.

Subsunk on July 27, 2009 at 6:39 AM
I believe Rush’s comment was meant to highlight the absurdity of the thoroughness with which he has been scrutinized in contrast to the lax vetting that The Jug-eared One experienced.
I’m sure if it gets a few mentions on the chatter channels, it won’t hurt Rush’s feelings one whit.
That’s my take.

I think this one of those things for which there is no easy answer. I doubt that any amount of information would really be enough for people who honestly think that Obama is not a citizen. On the other hand, he has done very little to defuse the situation. The whole birth certificate issue seems to come down to the difference between the long form and the short form. He has produced the short form. If he produces a long form with additional information..would that really put an end to this? I doubt it, if a notice in a paper back in 1961 is not good enough why would a long form birth certificate be good enough?
I do know that a lot of liberals seem to like to make an issue of this as well, so I wonder if they think it makes the right look odd.
Terrye on July 27, 2009 at 7:11 AM
And Obama should show the list of classes he took at college and Harvard Law School, PLUS the grades.
And divulge also his LSAT (Law School Aptitude Test) score he needed to take to enter Harvard Law School.
I still can´t find out how he paid for Harvard plus living expenses. (Or the 5 week vacation in Europe he took right before going to Harvard.)
And can we see his Indonesian passport plus how he was able to travel to Pakistan in the 1980s when US citizens were not allowed to go there?
albill on July 27, 2009 at 7:13 AM
Lou Dobs is right and Ann Coulter is wrong on this issue.
I know that ther a lot of Ann Coulter fans out there, but she at times is very wrong. She seriously supported leftist Hillary for a stretch of time during the 2008 Presidential election. In fact, in 2008, I thought at times that Ann Coulter had jumped the shark.
Simple solution: require Barack Obama to go through the same process that John McCain did: release documentation that includes original birth certificate and hospital records; have two prominent attorneys in Ted Olsen and David Boies render an opinion on eligibility; obtain a U.S. Senate Resolution declaring eligibility.
John McCain, a patriot war hero from a distinguished American military family, went through that process. Why not also a community organizer with a British father and relatives in Kenya and with a travel history that included a country that did not allow American citizens to enter at the time?
Phil Byler on July 27, 2009 at 7:14 AM
I wish they would just produce the birth certificate already so that we don’t have to hear about this crap anymore.
SoulGlo on July 27, 2009 at 7:19 AM
Well, I think at least two of these three jilted lovers are going to eventually have to give up and accept that the One’s heart can only belong to ONE of these scorned belles.
I think I’m already on the record that this is a human-interest story that transcends petty squabbles about eligibility for higher office (bah!) and issues of citizenship (pooh!) — after all, don’t we deserve to know the location of the manger of the Messiah, so we know where to drive the tour bus? — but there really is only one explanation that fits all the evidence (and not just the tawdry crumbs that you tin-foil hat Burfers want to acknowledge):
Obama was born in multiple places simultaneously.
Yes, I said it. Let me say it again: The world’s first Simultaneous Live Birth, by one mother of one Son, in three locations at once — a veritable “Trinity” of live action, simulcasted for the witness-bearing pleasure of those who wished they could all be in one location but somehow couldn’t, for whatever reason.
Yes I know… He truly is the Messiah. Thus demonstrated by the undeniable fact of His multiple births.
I realize all of this might sound far-fetched to some of you but don’t forget, this is the One… and he can quite literally do anything. And you do have to admit, it fits the facts a lot better than anything else we’ve heard lately, including the preposterous charge that Obama might be lying.
If you subscribe to this benighted and dangerous view you would be forgetting that every word out of the One’s mouth is true by definition. You know what that means. It means all you scumbags are guilty of sedition and treason, just keep it up why don’t you.
The only question left in my mind is, was the birth truly simultaneous or did they happen back-to-back, like a triple-header? Even that would be unprecedented, so I’d be willing to accept that if I had to.
Now, all we need to see from Obama in order to wrap this up is a Certification of Multiple Live Births (COMLB). That really should resolve this matter once and for all and dismiss those sleazy allegations by a gaggle of ill-wishers.
Glad that’s settled. Now you’ll have to excuse me – I’m going to hold my breath until the Administration releases the certificate documenting this miracle, which should help speed it along. By a miracle of faith my brain shall remain oxygenated until It appears.

I think this post is not so good.
On the “Hillary would have found it” nonsense, hogwash!
A major part of her undoing was NOT attacking The ONE.
She lost before she knew what happening. She thought He

And her husband? The only thing President Eisenhower was sure he could do was start a nuclear war. Would a liberal Dem really broach this subject anyway? Unless it had to do with a conservative born to an active duty military family, of course.

Your comment put me in mind of when GHWB was running for office. It seemed no matter where he was in the country he had some direct connection to that state as part of his speech. It was something of a joke at the time. Of course, unlike the current situation, we didn’t have to wonder about his citizenship.

Our SCOTUS has no interest in upholding the constitution if it would make our first black president look bad, so I expect nothing of this controversy except controversy for the sake of distracting from his more egregious evils. The point it drives home to me is the truth of the duplicitous, sneaky, calculating scum b*stard that inhabits the highest office in the land. His past is a series of secrets that we are not worthy to know. His fellating media uses this to continue the VRWC meme and our simple requests for evidence feed this. Should we stop asking? Really, I don’t know. How many BB guns will it take to demolish a brick wall? Would our time be better spent looking for the canon that will do the job more quickly if such a canon even exists?
You may argue that Congress is his Achilles’ heel and we need to attack there. Perhaps. That would explain why he is usurping congressional authority so as to render their acts inconsequential. So if he succeeds in rendering Congress impotent, how do we change our government; by ballot or bullet, if the ballot changes nothing?

As much as this continues to be a story, it only plays into the hands of the left. Does it continue to be a debatable issue? Yes! But in the debate the left and many on the right gets to label those asking the questions as kooks. By not clearing this up, the left gets to keep the issue open and many on the right fall for the trap. At this point the issue in mute! He is the president, I see nothing other than an election that will change that. IMHO the debate should of his policies that will hurt this country (there are so many to keep us busy). Doesn’t change the debatable issue of his birth, but does refocus the energy to issues that has to be stopped if we value/want to save our society as we know it.
Tanker on July 27, 2009 at 8:16 AM
It isn’t, really, unless you mean the attempts to smear everyone on the right with this asinine insanity. That’s not a “story” – it’s well deserved spanking because way too many people appear to be losing their goddamed minds over this baseless conspiracy theory.
Are you just now figuring this out?
There is no “debatable issue”.
No Birthers have invalidated this document, and hence, there is no “there” there.

Not to be too much of a dick there “Good Lt” (I’d love to see proof of that), but if the Executive branch (laid out under article II) can usurp the power of the Legislative branch (laid out under Article I), this country ceases to be a Republic by definition. You are aware of that, correct?
flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 8:29 AM
It time for Republican elected officials to show leadership and speak out againt this nonsense. Obama DID release his birth certificate:
Birth certificate photo 1: Fold and seal
Birth certificate photo 2: Full certificate
Birth certificate photo 3: Full certificate
Birth certificate photo 4: Top third
Birth certificate photo 5: Middle third
Birth certificate photo 6: Bottom third
Birth certificate photo 7: Stamp and seal
Birth certificate photo 8: Seal
Birth certificate photo 9: Stamp
The Republican Governor of Hawaii and officials from the Hawaii’s Department of Health have publicly stated that Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. End of story. The birthers need to be chased out of the party like the Birchers were a few decades ago. These are serious times. We need serious leaders.

kingsjester on July 27, 2009 at 8:47 AM
My Good Left-wing Troll, as usual you’re missing the larger point here:
Perhaps/perhaps not, but the story of where the Messiah’s manger is, and thus where to send the tour bus is very much alive, and will not go away using similar tactics.
There are now, and have been, multiple locations (3 locations on 2 continents and counting) claiming the One was born there, and seeking either attention, money or the right to make this claim exclusively. And unlike the other little story you seem to be obsessed with, this bigger story will only be defused when either:
1. All but one of those “I’m the father of the baby” locations is ultimately scorned by the One’s retinue of forensic specialists, like on an episode of the Jerry Springer show where a promiscuous mama waits for 55 minutes for the DNA evidence that will reveal which of the three potential fathers is the baby’s daddy; or
2. Obama finally caves in and admits the Truth of His miraculous multiple simultaneous births, and releases the paperwork to prove it.
RD on July 27, 2009 at 8:49 AM

People are already noticing this, and it has nothing to do with TEH BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 9:10 AM
I maintain that the document you posted does not reveal where to send the tour bus, which was my point (you really should learn to follow along better), and at the moment, nobody can tell us where to send it. Mombasa? North Honolulu? West Honolulu? This is costing my driver time & money.
Who knows? I believe two of the aforementioned places were published by UPI and other mainstream news organizations. The Kapi’olani hospital was using their (non-exclusive) claim of being the “daddy” to raise funds, but they abruptly suspended the campaign when challenged by the other “daddy”, Queens Medical center, via the media.
This is all so tawdry really… Obama should just come forward and say which of the “daddies” gave birth to him. Because unfortunately HIPAA regulations prevent either daddy from doing it themselves.
RD on July 27, 2009 at 9:10 AM
“Transcripts” of what?
You haven’t invalidated this documentation, and hence, have no grounds to claim “fraud.”
Every President has an army of lawyers and firms to protect them from the kinds of lawsuits. Bush had them Clinton had them. It’s normal. It’s not evidence of “wrongdoing.”
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:14 AM
Correction: either American daddy. AFAIK the Kenyan “daddy” is not bound by HIPAA regulation.

And they’ve always sparred for power and influence. Obumbler is no different.
Both branches are intact and as ineffective as ever. Calm down.

And yet somehow I don’t believe that.
flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 9:29 AM
Nobody is defending that.
So now Congress has been invalidated and Obumbler is a dictator? Or is he just a rookie who’s finding out that there are limits on the executive?
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:31 AM
I guess I’m a birther though I don’t talk about it much. We know so little about this pinhead that I can see how something this major could be covered up. As for reasons for a mother to do some lying about a child’s place of birth…. geez just ask any illegal alien why. Announcements in the newspaper don’t mean a thing. Hospital records do. Signed birth certificates do. If those things exist…. he’s legit. I for one, haven’t seen one but it could be that I just haven’t looked well enough.
As for the argument for not wasting time on this issue. I agree. There are more important things to do that can carry water. I, for one, am through thinking about it.

You also believe that Obama was born in Kenya/Indonesia/is a sekret muslim.
Shows what you know.
If you want a record of my beliefs, there is a long digital paper trail.
None. The handle Good Lt. has nothing to do with the military or the service or the police force.
And since I never claimed that I served anywhere or on any force – EVER – your line of inquiry is somewhat puzzling.
Now – have you invalidated Obama’s BC yet?
YOU. FAIL.
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:34 AM
Please state where I said he had (in the past tense) as opposed to is trying to (in the present tense). Do you believe that the executive is not attmepting to pressure the legislative to a degree practically heretofore unseen in American politics?
flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 9:34 AM
Wow. I actually am a muslim so I take serious offense at that, you prick. You can ask MB4 or a lot of the commenters here – I take a lot of madness for it. Nor have I ever stated that I believed that Pres. Obama was born anywhere but Hawaii.
Wrong, as I never implied that it was false.
Your handle attempts to infer an amount of legitimacy on your posts, and as such I question it. I don’t see many civilians here go by “OldSergeant” and then claim to be unaffiliated, so I felt it was natural to challenge you on this point (see: General Order #11).
flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 9:39 AM
No – we’ve had willful executives throughout our history (FDR, for example).
I don’t agree that this is unprecedented. I do agree that it is arrogant and heavy-handed. There’s a difference.
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:41 AM
You know, being a muslim, I take serious f’ing offense at that. I never inferred or stated that I believed that, so shove it dbag.
Because your handle attempts to infer an air of legitimacy over your posts. I don’t see many people post as “OldSergeant” and then claim to be unaffiliated. Having met quite a few fakers on the internets, it’s my natural inclination to call anyone who uses a rank out.

FDR tried to stack the courts. He didn’t send people into legislative districts or threaten fundraising. The closest you could probably get would be Woodrow Wilson’s APL.
flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 9:50 AM
It does no such thing.
YOU inferred that. And you were wrong.
I don’t see anyone making stupid and incorrect inferences from people’s handles – except for you, of course. You might want to, you know, stop doing that.
Sounds like your problem and not mine.
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:50 AM
Okay, Good Lt, please explain the basis of your handle, if it designed for anything except sockpuppeting.
flashoverride on July 27, 2009 at 9:51 AM
FDR tried to do an end-run around the Const. by stacking the courts, and you’re pretending that’s not as big of a deal as the existence of the idiots in ACORN?
If Obama tried stacking the SC with his cronies, I think that would be a bigger deal than ACORN these days.
I could be wrong, but don’t think I am.

Mere fact-checking by the media has turned up no leads, with both claiming to be the “daddy” and someone in Kenya besides. I fear this one is headed for Jerry Springer. No action by either of us is needed for that…
No case for *what*??? No case for confusion as to where the bus driver should take the tour group, to visit the Holy manger? I’d say that one’s as up-in-the-air as ever, pal, unless *you* can enlighten us… since at least three locations claim to be the “daddy”, and forensic evidence is inconclusive as to which “daddy” is the real one.
Like I said above, all Obama needs to do is release his COMLB (Certification of Multiple Live Births) and the tour bus can take the group both places with a clear conscience, safe in the knowledge that the One is the first documented case of someone born in at least two places at once… as well as Mombasa most likely.
Here’s a newsflash: I don’t *care* what the reason is. The tour bus is still idling & costing a bundle.
And the tour group’s concerned that if they pick one location at random, there’s at most a 50% chance (if not a 33% chance) that they could be cheated. (They’re not the best in math, so they assume equal probabilities where maybe they ought not… but there you go.)

It’s a nickname given by to one of the members of Phish (the bass player) by his bandmates.
Wow. You were WAY off. Mystery solved.
See what happens when you assume without knowing?
Good Lt on July 27, 2009 at 9:54 AM
The courts can’t rule on the laws if they don’t get passed, so yeah. There’s that.
