If he did indeed enter Honduras and then leave on his own, doesn’t this mean that his exile is voluntary? It seems that there is a difference between forcible exile and a refusal to repatriate. Jus sayin’.

I was sitting here thinking – has this administration even read the Honduran constitution and know their laws? But then I remembered they don’t even care enough to read and abide by ours.

The good news: Most people are now demanding that Obama respect the Honduran Constitution.

Interestingly, the Honduran Constitution of 1982 (Honduras: Constitución de 1982) does provide for loss of citizenship for those who “incite, promote or aid in the continuation or re-election of the President” (article 42, translation mine):
ARTICULO 42.- La calidad de ciudadano se pierde:
5. Por incitar, promover o apoyar el continuismo o la reelección del Presidente de la República; y,

Further, Article 239 indicates that anyone who has held the office of chief executive cannot be president or vice president and anyone who proposes reform to that prohibition can be barred from holding public office for ten years:
ARTICULO 239.- El ciudadano que haya desempeñado la titularidad del Poder Ejecutivo no podrá ser Presidente o Vicepresidente de la República.
El que quebrante esta disposición o proponga su reforma, así como aquellos que lo apoyen directa o indirectamente, cesarán de inmediato en el desempeño de sus respectivos cargos y quedarán inhabilitados por diez (10) años para el ejercicio de toda función pública.

Exit question: Between the ObamaCare meltdown, Gatesgate, and now this reminder of one of his worst foreign policy decisions so far, is this the toughest week Obama’s had as president? Has any other week even been close?

All part of the Obama administration’s continuing efforts to restore the world’s respect for America.

Just imagine what they’d be saying about us now if they didn’t “respect” us so much.

But when it comes to “new” foreign policy issues, like Honduras, or ones that don’t seem to be politically dangerous, like Venezuela, Obama and his crew’s reflexive far left attitudes come out, just like in his cap and trade and health care proposals. If they’re not afraid that it will hurt him, the default position is whatever George W. Bush was for and whichever countries we were allied with are the ones we now shun, while the countries Bush was at odds with are the ones Obama tries to coddle.
