Nuance: Cop who arrested Gates is an expert on … racial profiling

The perfect crime, my friends. If you were a racist eager to harass prominent black intellectuals, what better cover story could there be than teaching tolerance to new recruits for years on end? Besides giving Reggie Lewis CPR in a desperate bid to save his life, I mean.
Clearly we’re dealing with a criminal genius of unusual cunning here.
Cambridge Sgt. James Crowley has taught a class about racial profiling for five years at the Lowell Police Academy after being hand-picked for the job by former police Commissioner Ronny Watson, who is black, said Academy Director Thomas Fleming.
“I have nothing but the highest respect for him as a police officer. He is very professional and he is a good role model for the young recruits in the police academy,” Fleming told The Associated Press on Thursday.
The course, called “Racial Profiling,” teaches about different cultures that officers could encounter in their community “and how you don’t want to single people out because of their ethnic background or the culture they come from,” Fleming said…
In radio interviews Thursday morning, Crowley maintained he followed procedure.
“I support the president of the United States 110 percent. I think he was way off base wading into a local issue without knowing all the facts as he himself stated before he made that comment,” Crowley told WBZ-AM. “I guess a friend of mine would support my position, too.”
Last I heard, Gates was thinking of making a documentary about his experience because, well, he’s got his narrative and he’s sticking to it — no matter what certain other prominent black intellectuals have to say. To be honest, from what little I know of the facts, it sounds like the only “crime” Gates was guilty of was being a douche to the cops. I’m not sure why that warranted arrest, but then neither you nor I nor The One was there, not that that stopped him from making grand pronouncements about the alleged stupidity of the police’s conduct. Self-serving exit quotation from his latest statement about this: “I think that I have extraordinary respect for the difficulties of the job that police officers do.”

He doesn’t KNOW whether he has extraordinary respect, but he does THINK so. Gotta leave an escape hatch.

Though I still don’t think Dr. Gates should not have been arrested just for being a big baby, the jerk is playing this up in order to incite even more racial disharmony.

Whoops, double negative-should not have been arrested…
Dr. ZhivBlago on July 23, 2009 at 10:45 PM
Gates wasn’t arrested for being a douche to the cop or mouthing off or being disrespectful or being a big baby. He was arrested for violating a law passed by elected legislators of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Don’t like the law, then get it changed. Most citizens like the idea that there is a law against being a loud, obnoxious jackhole in public. Outside on your porch where your neighbors can see and hear you being a jackhole counts as being in public.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I think Gates is a charlatan, he’s a prima donna who only pulled this stunt to garner attention. That elitist snob thought he could get away with disrespecting the police because he thinks he’s intellectual superior. You do not disparage or act in a condescending tone to a cop! You reap what you sow.

I must agree with gates and the president. It is a shame that we have not yet over come the hateful bias of racial profiling. I really felt this was behind us with Mark Furman. Yet her we go again two learned and prominent black scholars both should know better, profiling a police officer in the proper performance of his duties as a red neck racial bigot, only because he is white. Sorry Mr obama and Mr gates, at one time I had much respect for you both, your thoughts, ideals and accomplishments. Now your actions have embarrassed us all and dishonored yourself.

So you think they shouldn’t have taken a report? You checked with the detectives everyday to find out what leads they had discovered?
And believe it or not, we understand that we don’t always catch the bad guys.
Your “example” proves nothing.

Yes, and so to prove his intellectual bona fides, instead of screaming “YAH I’ll TALK WITH YOUR MAMA OUTSIDE!” he screams “YAH I’LL SPEAK WITH YOUR MAMA OUTSIDE!”
LOL
Whadda racist tool. Am glad the officer has said he won’t apologize. Gates owes HIM an apology for going off on him when he knew full well that the officer was there cause he’d looked like he was breaking into his home and the officer was there to protect Gates’ property.
I agree w/ those who think he wanted to get arrested for benefit of his new documentary.

This is juicy! A sensitivity establishment going up against a profiling establishment! Who do the odds favor?
Cybergeezer on July 24, 2009 at 9:16 AM
Great point! Is this reverse-profiling? I think so. Obama and Gates assume that a white-man is going to mistreat them because they are black.
You could say that Sgt. Crowley profiles all those who perform disorderly conduct.

Hey guys, there was a woman who, during the campaign, said something to a brownshirt obama campaigm worker about obama’s support for abortion I believe.
The campaign worker reported it to the Waffen SS.. oops I mean Secret Service. She had a couple of guys pay her a “Friendly Visit”..
They grilled and released
Exit Question.. Does anyone have the tape of jugears saying that the Secret Service “Acted Stupidly” in that instance??? I can’t seem to find that anywhere.

I think I heard that on the radio. May have been Hannity or Limbaugh. If it’s the same case, the campaign worker misunderstood her. She said something about killing babies and it seemed that the worked thought she said something about killing the president.

Unfortunately because of the actions toward our intelligence and our military it is not in their favor to take prisoners, they should just shoot them. If the trend toward police follows, what if…

Gates is another affirmative action “success story”-getting ahead by race card intimidation. Now he has his international attention since his friend the Dumbo-eared dimwit had piped in.

Gates will be joined by many unqualifed blacks that will only have to show up, not show transcripts to get into medical school if the healthcare package gets approved.
Eat two watermellon and call me in the morning.
