CNN wonders: Could Obama be overexposed?

posted at 7:45 pm on July 23, 2009 by Allahpundit

Let me answer that question this way. Not only have The One’s rhetorical tics infested my brain — half my tweets start with “let me be clear” or “as I have consistently said” nowadays — but when I saw him on cable news this afternoon at that townhall, my thought was actually formulated this way:

Let me be clear: I can’t believe this f***ing guy is on TV again.

In all seriousness, I wonder if his overexposure has become self-defeating in the same way that the stimulus has. If not for that hard lesson, we might be stuck with ObamaCare right now. By the same token, if not for The One’s omnipresence, there might have been a lot more viewers for last night’s pep rally. Why tune in if you know you’ll see him somewhere else in the next three hours, throwing out the first pitch somewhere or making buffalo wings on the Food Network or talking to Matt Lauer about mom jeans or whatever? Further proof of his economic ignorance: The scarcer a resource is, the more precious it is. Make yourself scarce and people will pay more attention, Barry.

But why tune in if you know you’ll see him somewhere else in the next three hours, throwing out the first pitch somewhere or making buffalo wings on the Food Network or talking to Matt Lauer about mom jeans or whatever?

Or perhaps on TrinityBroadcastingNetwork (TBN) shouting “GOD DAMN AMERICA!”??

They really believe the magic he worked on dumb college kids, rich liberals and self absorbed pundits can somehow overawe people into wanting to pay more to weaken health care most us are very happy with.

Could Obama be overexposed?

Are people starting realize the emperor has no clothes?

NoFanofLibs on July 23, 2009 at 7:48 PM

As Obama has consistently shown, he is not post racial, nor is he pre-qualified.

portlandon on July 23, 2009 at 7:48 PM

The really crazy thing is that I want him to keep doing what he’s doing, because he is COMPLETELY falling apart at the seams. If he learned a lesson, backed off from some of these idiotic plans and actually attempted to craft bipartisan policy, he’d gain a lot more cred and become extraordinarily dangerous.

As it stands, he’s just … nothing.

I completely agree. His understanding of economic principles is quite evident. What I find hilarious, is the man actually believes people want to see him, hang on his words and such. He must have said four times last night he was President of the United States. No kidding, I would never have known that. His massive ego is in for the biggest downfall of his life.

I kind of like that he’s so overexposed. The more the public sees of him, the more the public is going to dislike him. Familiarity breeds contempt, and never more than in this case. I was at B&N bookstore a few weeks ago, and they had an entire shelf dedicated to him. Let me be perfectly clear. You need to get the Sham-WOW. The Sham-WOW is necessary to get your kitchen and automobile back on the track of cleanliness and prosperity. I have consistently said that the Sham-WOW is the key to success in our 21st Century household cleaning environment.

Now, there are those who say that we need to buy enough Sham-WOWs to fill a railroad car, that we will never have enough absorbent sheets to meet our cleaning needs. And then there are others who say we do not need absorbent cleaning products of any kind, who are content to live in filth and suffer the adverse health effects of moldy carpets.

I have consistently said that you absolutely need one set of Sham-WOWs, which include two large size sheets, and one kitchen size sheet, perfect for cleaning up small spills and accidents, all for the low, low price of $19.95. But, consistent with our forward thinking application of smart purchasing power, we can now offer you not one, but two sets of Sham-WOWs, for that same low price…

It’s true that Obama is on TV more than a test pattern but it’s not simply his overexposure that alienates people. Except for his cultish left wing supporters, people are seeing through his empty rhetoric, obfuscation and proven lies. He’s a shallow person that lives in a world he doesn’t adequately understand and therefore is constantly misinterpreting its cues. His obvious incompetence is causing him serious problems and he doesn’t seem able to adapt and adjust. I’m afraid that not even the propaganda arm of his regime, the media, will be able to save him. That makes for some unfortunate panic driven possibilities and one is the complete destruction of the Republic. Face it people, we are walking on the edge.

How’s this conversation going in “your” House Mr. Obama? You’re right, Mr. President, it was stupidity bringing up an unfounded racism charge with no knowledge of the facts. Does the fact that the peace officer conducts racial profile training to recruits leave you with righteous feeling gutting those who protect us? Further, does it make any difference that the man attempted to save the life of Celtics star Reggie Lewis? Perhaps a bigger dog with a tail wagging would suffice. Try looking inward and understand that the eternal debt you and your party are attempting to burden this nation with is NOT SUSTAINABLE or even accepted by your electorate. Your right Mr. President, this is not about you. It’s about the fiscal survival of this country and all of its citizens. If you really care to show some of the “class” your electorate still believes in, offer Sgt. Crowley a public apology and stop cashing checks this nation doesn’t have.

Rovin on July 23, 2009 at 9:07 PM

This is why “blaming Bush” doesn’t work. Dubya has been an Official Media Non-Person since last year’s summer.

To the average Joe who pays scant scant attention to politics, the O-Man has been the de facto POTUS since then as well.

The MSM erred in shipping Bush off to Media Gulag prematurely.

The One has owned it all for a year now. And it’s catching up with him.

Heh heh heh.

Bruno Strozek on July 23, 2009 at 9:15 PM

Others here have said it, but Obama has made the most basic mistake of believing his own press clippings. “I am wonderful. I won. I am the Messiah. I will make the oceans rise.” It was spin, and it has a short shelf life. The reality of his leadership will last much, much longer, and people so far do not like what they see. I’m not sure going away will improve the situation much. People invested in a Porsche, and received a clunky old Government Motors car. That becomes clearer each time he speaks, whether he speaks once a day, once a week, or once a month. The engine still knocks, it stalls coming out of second gear, and the brakes squeak. Every time you drive it.

Rational Thought on July 23, 2009 at 9:16 PM

With our luck, ABC, CBS, and NBC will feature him in fall reality shows, and each will be trying to work in cameos on their more popular dramas. Rahm will be working on a real-life role on 24.

I’m OD’d on this guy.

BuckeyeSam on July 23, 2009 at 9:17 PM
