This was an MSM escape clause. Even they realize the health care presentation was horrible, hence this softball. And sure enough, CNN and ABC right now are leading with this silliness, burying the health care fast and deep.

Anyone seen any instant polls? Where Lutz tonight?

He hates the very people who get up everyday and go work as a cop, a nurse, a secretary, fireman, the everyman that he never had to be.. He is a complete asshole who sees people as nothing more than ants to manipulate and destroy. Throwing that cop under the bus will not die. He will go on vacation a more hated man than he could imagine.

The problem is while it was a softball question, Obama fouled it off through Dr. Gates’ plate glass window by saying he wasn’t going to judge the case and then pointing the blame at the police. Should Gates try to take the officer in question to court in some sort of racial bias suit against the City of Cambridge, the defense attorneys are going to have all kinds of fun showing that the jury pool has already been compromised by the statement made by the President of the United States.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were the first people Gates contacted despite witnesses saying he acted exactly as the BPD said he did. Once you get those two clowns involved, the truth goes out the window and the avalanche of lies to follow begins. Gates is now demanding an apology despite the BPD trying to placate the nutcase and without said apology is going to sue the pants off them. Given this guys scream of racism he will probably sue anyway so tell me which is worse, having Jackson and Sharpton screaming racism up the wazoo until the cows come home or dropping the charges and giving him what they think he wants? They took the lesser of two evils (much to my disappointment). Either way they are dealing with the devil and will pay the price.

President Barack Obama’s assertion Wednesday that government will stay out of health care decisions in an overhauled system is hard to square with the proposals coming out of Congress and with his own rhetoric.

This doesn’t even “square” with his opening statement “Nurses and Doctors will still be able to give you the best care, just not the most expensive care” sorry but that is not staying out of “health care decisions”.

fu+ckers like equality whine about police and deride them every time. yet if they show up late to an emergency watch out.

CWforFreedom

I was waiting for a holster sniffer to come up with that cliche. The fact is that police departments have maintained the policy that they are not there to protect citizens, but rather maintain order and arrest criminals. They have no legal obligation to protect people. They certainly feel that they have no legal obligation to risk their lives for the safety of a civilian. Another police officer, sure, they’ll lay down their life for their most corrupt brother or sister in blue, but for an avg Joe or Jane, hardly ever.

Most are incompetent. Jack Dunphy, an LAPD officer who writes a pseudonymous column for the National Review, and a man who routinely defends cop behavior, nonetheless contends that there is a 20/80 rule. Twenty percent of cops do eighty percent of police work and the other 4/5 pretty much stand around.

You brought up an emergency. They always show up late to an emergency. An infinitesimal number of emergencies are prevented by cops and the truth is that they don’t save a whole lot of lives. The most they can do is get you to a hospital quickly, and most cops wait for the EMS crews.

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe the bovine excrement that cops save lives. Cops care about cop lives, period. Cops let all those people in NY bleed to death after that Vietnamese immigrant already killed himself. They were too scared to enter the building. Brave, brave police officers.

Cops are just glorified DMV workers that can take away your liberty and your property. The sharp end of the nanny state’s spear. Remember, fellow conservatives, that police unions frighten voters with threats of reduced police services should gov’t spending be reduced. Cops are among the worst abusers of public pension funds you can think about. California cops retire with 97% pensions after 20 years. It’s a tough job, but is it tougher than being a member of the US military, who only get 50% pensions after 20 years? Cops are the worst abusers of disability pensions. Cops are so corrupt that big police departments must, I repeat must, have internal affairs bureaus because so many of the people who want to become cops apparently are in fact criminals themselves.

Gates playing the race card, pulling “do you know who I am”, making a “yo mama” joke at the cop’s expense, so he’s no saint. He was, however, acting legally in his own home, and just because he had the audacity to hurt a cop’s feelings, the cop, like all cops whose feelings are hurt, had to demonstrate the he was in charge, so he baited Prof. Gates to exit his home, where the cop already knew that he could arrest him for disorderly conduct.

Gates was a jerk, and race has little to do with this case than the fact that a neighbor called the police and identified two men breaking down a door as black men. I doubt the cop was giving Gates a hard time because he was black. The cop was giving Gates a hard time because most cops are jerks.

Bad cop, no donut.

Obama really doesn’t know the facts of this case as he admits (so why is he giving his opinion based on it), and that law will never know the truth because it has been squelched by the mayor, the governor, and the president by pressuring that the charges be dropped. I guess the concept among many black people is most whites will always be racists even if that isn’t the truth and probably would not have prevailed in this case.

From what I heard, Gates’s cop-calling neighbor saw the driver clearly, but not Gates. Not knowing the driver (as opposed to seeing her neighbor and knowing it’s his house), but watching a door get bashed in, it was reasonable to call the cops. No matter what race the stranger is, if I see a bashed door and someone I don’t recognize near it, I’m calling the cops.

Cops are used to people having to break into their own houses, and just want to be able to put in their report that they checked the putative owner’s ID and verified him or her to be the house owner. No, they can’t just take your word for it. From what I heard, Gates wasn’t showing ID and was screaming at the cops when they arrived. Until they see ID proving otherwise, they have to assume you don’t belong there and the actual owner would want you to haul trespassers away.

If you bothered to read the story, Gates was out of town, and this was broad daylight, before 1PM. He came home and he and his driver discovered that the front door was jammed. They used his key to enter by the back door. Once they had entered the house and brought in his luggage, they went around the house and forced the front door open, which is what the neighbor saw and reported.

Gates produced both a Harvard faculty card and his drivers license. At that point the cop should have left. If he was polite, he should have apologized to Prof. Gates for the inconvenience. Instead, the cop had to show Gates who was in charge. Since Gates had done nothing illegal at that point, but he had pissed off a cop, the cop told him to come outside, where the cop knew he could arrest him.

No wonder the DA dropped the charges. This was a hairsbreadth away from entrapment. I just read about someone who had a DUI conviction overturned because they were somewhere where the cops were clearing out a joint, they told the cop they were drunk and couldn’t drive, and the cops said they had to leave anyway, and then they busted them for DUI down the street.

The cop’s action with Prof. Gates is directly analogous to the DUI case. The cop knew that Gates behavior would be arrestable if he went out on the porch, so he baited him to do so. It’s classic entrapment because Gates had no criminal mind. Telling a cop something about his mama ain’t no crime.

As someone said on another blog, you should be able to walk up to a cop and tell him how you’d love to screw his wife, with his daughter participating as he watched, and the cop shouldn’t be able to do a thing to you other than maybe use his mouth and even that he shouldn’t do because he should respect civilians as a condition of his job.

I have every right in the world to say whatever I want to say, short of assault, to any public official in this country.

I live in a free country, not a police state.

Sounds like you may have a couple of issues to deal with when it comes to law enforcement.

Miss Molly on July 23, 2009 at 12:30 AM

Don’t judge him too harshly. It’s well-known that cops tend to be a bit overly-rough with guys who lurk outside elementary schools wearing raincoats and panties. Traumatized him.

Every policeman I’ve ever had contact with called me “Sir”.

I responded by calling him “Officer”.

guntotinglibertarian on July 23, 2009 at 12:35 AM

Shove it, Barry.

I’ve been a victim of violent crimes (one broken nose at age 11 at the hands of three negroes who were 17 on a city bus for no apparent reason; an armed robbery attempt by a negro on a bike; and an armed carjacking by a negro who was nice enough to hold the gun to my head for good measure whle he robbed me) as well as just the regular garden variety break-in/robberies by negroes (who were later caught)… so you’ll excuse me if I might be like those “stupid” Cambridge police and a little suspicious of a man, who just happens to be black, breaking into a house.

In fact, why don’t you shove your “years of racial profiling against African Americans” up your wife’s fat a$$ just for safe keeping?

A-hole.

Obama’s little racist war ain’t gonna work.

katy on July 23,2009 at 12:29PM.

katy: I’ve been out of the media loof, for a day or so,any
how, remember during the Liberal primaries,Team Obama
was busy trying to draw in the Clintons on race!

And,during the presidential election Team Hopey tried
to pull in the GOP with the race card, and thankfully
the GOP ingnored it!

It seems when Obama’s back is against the wall, politi
cally, and his agenda isn’t being passed,he is lashing
out, what he knows best,”THE RACE CARD”!!

Couple with that,as well,Obama being snubbed on the Wo

Just some thoughts,Katy!:)

Let’s see: I am a white, upper-middle-class, middle-aged male.

A policeman knocks on my door and says a neighbor has reported a possible break-in at my home and asks me to produce identification.

I say, “Of course, officer,” show him my ID.

He says, “Thak you sir, good night.”

Suppose instead I respond with obscenities and refuse to show him my ID?

I get the same treatment as eminent Professor Gates got.

Not much of a libertarian if you think the state can tell you what you can grow in your backyard or put in your pipe.

No hypocrisy there.

But the cops were just doing their jobs, loser.

what is going on?

MSNBC is borderline crucifying Obama tonight

his presser must have REALLY sucked BALLZ

BPD on July 22, 2009 at 10:53 PM

I just looked on MSNBC online, to find indications of what you are talking about, and their top story was basically about why it is falling apart: “Obama missteps confuse health overhaul”.

Most significantly, it ended with a quote from DeMint. Whoever is last in an article gets the emphasis and the last word.

Learn a little Latin. “Ad hominem” means “against the man”.

If I had called you an idiot, that would be ad hominem.

I said your reasoning was idiotic. Totally different thing.

Go play with people at your own level of intellectual development.

guntotinglibertarian on July 23, 2009 at 12:52 AM

Suppose instead I respond with obscenities and refuse to show him my ID?

I get the same treatment as eminent Professor Gates got.

guntotinglibertarian

If you bothered to read the police report, Gates produced his Harvard faculty card and his driver’s license while still in the house. At that point Gates had every right to be pissed.

Cop comes into my house and demands ID? I have every right to verbally abuse him while I’m looking for proof that it’s my house. At that point he should get the hell out of my house. Period, end of question.

Yeah, so Gates was a jerk. Being a jerk in your own home isn’t an excuse to have your liberty taken away. The cop, however was a jerk who was abusing his power as an official of the state.

I can’t wait to watch you squeal when some cop tries to violate your own 2nd Amendment rights.

The old saying is that a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged and a libertarian is a conservative who has been arrested.

You’re no different than the folks who have no problems with Fourth Amendment violations because they do see themselves as criminals.

You’re not a libertarian, you’re a gun fetishist. I’m all for gun ownership, but you only care about your own rights.

See, the reality is that you can’t just pick saints for test cases. Miranda was a criminal. So was Gideon. If rights only apply to saints who say yes ma’am and no sir when an officer of the state demands certain behavior, well then, they aren’t really rights.

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 12:52 AM

imploding….

katy: And the beauty of this,is by Obama’s very own hand!

Obama is becoming bitter,at other people who are not
willing to ‘Ram-Rod’ his Utopian agenda!

So,I think his aim,and anger is at the GOP,and the so
-called Blue Dogs if they exist!!

His speech,at the NAACP,shall we say it was colourful
in his words!:)

I’ve a feeling he’s going to be walking back this comment tomorrow after the Police Organizations start complaining.
