Who will become tonsil czar?

Geochelone on July 23, 2009 at 7:24 AM

Who is this rokemronnie person? Talking about sniffing at holsters and sh*t and all kinds of stuff.

This sounds like one of those screwed up situations that just got out of hand.

If the man had just explained to the cop who he was etc without screaming at him and calling him names, I doubt if there would have been a problem.

You can not entrap someone into following you out a door. That is just silly.

Terrye on July 23, 2009 at 7:25 AM

It’s entirely Gate’s fault. Read the report here:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/17512830/Gates-Police-Report

Who’s the racist? He was properly arrested when he acted disorderly in front of other residents and passers by outside. This is another example of who is teaching our youth. Hope and change people… hope and change.

Static on July 23, 2009 at 7:26 AM

The last two questions were obviously setups right out of the Democrats usual play book.
Second from last question… Are we being too easy on Wall Street? This let Obama rail on about greed (after accusing doctors of unneeded tests or taking out tonsils just to make a buck…. check.
Last question, what does it say about America that a black man, yadda yadda? President “I don’t know what happened but…” got to then rail on about bigots. So the template is complete… everything is the fault of greedy bigots. When you’re a dumb hammer everything looks like a nail.
What a fine way to end a much-hyped press conference too… make Americans feel bad about America. Morning in America? The Shining City on a Hill? NOT!

rhombus on July 23, 2009 at 7:31 AM

So I can try to break into Gate’s house and if a cop asks me for ID I get to say “STFU its my house I am breaking into”?

That’s a Howler.

So if I get pulled over for speeding I can say “its not my car”?

Geochelone on July 23, 2009 at 7:31 AM

I agree many, many have been stopped for no reason. But, perhaps if the black/latino communities would cease from committing the vast majority of crimes, the incidences of pulling over innocent minorities would go down. It sucks but it’s true, in part. Just sayin’

Mommypundit on July 23, 2009 at 7:12 AM

The filthy liar admitted he didn’t have all the facts and then proclaimed that the Cambridge police acted stupidly. It is absurd to blame an entire police force for what is best the over-reaction by one individual (and I’m not saying that is the case). The filthy liar, therefore, owes the Cambridge police an apology and should cease and desist from weighing in on matters where he is clueless.

IMO this appears to be an improper use of the race card. You just know that Gates took on a “who the hell do you think you are to mess with me” attitude with the police. He comes across as somebody spoiling for a fight and somebody who sees all whites as racists. I guess that’s why he and the filthy liar get along well.

highhopes on July 23, 2009 at 7:37 AM

This was the most shocking aspect of the whole presser. I can’t believe a white reporter, knowing the race-baiting inclination of the President, asked a race-baiting question of the Lightworker President to gull him into speaking stupidly.

Seems to me a clear case reportorial racism and entrapment, which, unfortunately for the President, is not illegal.

Dusty on July 23, 2009 at 7:41 AM

Hmm,if destroying America and fomenting a race war are his true agendas, he seems to be doing a helluva job.

bbz123 on July 23, 2009 at 7:44 AM

I think it’s fair to say Ogabe didn’t help himself with the way he answered that question. And the overreach continues :)

Obama wanted this question. He was playing to his audience and trying to win back credibility. He has no idea what he just stepped in, as he has no idea who his country is made of and who does the working and dying here.
The policeofficer’s story is now topping Drudge. He should apologize to the cop today. His secret service will be giving him the evil eye.

I’m shocked that you do not recognize how low and disgraceful this is. For shame.

I presume you comment on this board in hopes of presenting strong arguments that win people to your way of thinking, or at least cause them to rethink their own ideas. I actually agree with you in principle on a couple of points, but am totally repelled by your belligerent and offensive manner. The way you have conducted yourself on this thread makes it unlikely anyone will give credence to your posts on any topic in the future. I hope you will reconsider your approach to argumentation.

DrMagnolias on July 23, 2009 at 7:54 AM

Me thinks cops aren’t going to vote for this guy in 2012, and not because of his race.

tessa on July 23, 2009 at 7:50 AM

The only way the filthy liar will apologize is if it becomes a critical issue with the policeman’s union (which backed the bastard). Obama is a racist who doesn’t even make a pretense of liking white people. In his mind he said nothing wrong last night.

highhopes on July 23, 2009 at 7:55 AM

This is what you get when you have a Far Left President attempting to “change” a Center-Right nation. Now, since his programs are in danger of being defeated, he’s pulling out the Race Card. Next, we’ll see the First Presidential Temper Tantrum (TM).

Did you notice the confusion about Sweet getting the last question? She was planted with that LAST question about race. The race question was planted to suggest that you are racist if you oppose Obama.

the nice thing about the race card is that like the flu it gets less virulent with each administration….

figure independents will be fairly immune by 2010.

sven10077 on July 23, 2009 at 8:10 AM

Okay… to that pathetic CNN question, I’ll post here what I had posted to my Facebook profile last night:

Has anyone other than me noticed that CNN, on the same day that BHO is once again lying to the public using the airwaves, has played two show about black people? Race politics? Nah! Boosting the dictator? NOOOOOO! That can’t be it.

madmonkphotog on July 23, 2009 at 8:11 AM

Isn’t there a saying about….ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer?

Stupid Question!!! Idiot reporter, probably so full of ‘white guilt’ that she thought asking it would absolve her of the pain. lol
And Obama proceeds to say, “I don’t know all of the facts” and then he rehashes the story withOUT the real facts. Pretty much sums him up as the POTUS.
UGH!

madmonkphotog on July 23, 2009 at 8:11 AM

I’ve noticed that CNN has been running a lot of these ‘black in america’ shows. I’ve watched a couple of them, just to see, maybe it would be good.
I found nothing useful, whatsoEVER about the stories I watched. I could just as well have been watching a story about a white person, or a latino, or asian, etc, etc, etc.
While I think they COULD have done something good with the concept. It sucked.
And I’m thinking that their ratings are showing that.

bridgetown on July 23, 2009 at 8:14 AM

Someone please call Lynn Sweet and explain the difference between ‘presser’ and ‘fluffer’.

bloviator on July 23, 2009 at 8:19 AM

American cops are racists and American doctors determine treatment by how much they can make.

Great country we live in barry.

peacenprosperity on July 23, 2009 at 8:23 AM

Stupid reporter. Should be fired for asking that question.

jencab on July 22, 2009 at 10:45 PM

By the way, she’s not a “reporter”, per se. She’s Sun-Times columnist who has spent her recent years fantasizing about sucking off The One. The bankrupt Sun-Times made the hilarious decision to make her a Washington correspondent, in light of her, ahem, access to O’Bozo.

And here we are – voila! – with a Chicago Sun-Times columnist of zero talent or reputation suddenly being called upon at a Presidential press conference. I guess the Sun-Times read him right – provincial, corrupt, and hilariously stupid.

Lynn Sweet, for her part, also followed the script and asked him some irrelevent question about race politics at a “healthcare press conference”. A total setup.

Jaibones on July 23, 2009 at 8:35 AM

may have been a softball question but his answer & calling the cop’s actions stupid will stick with him for along time.

it wasn’t a wasted question. looks like Drudge will milk it today.

…did Obama just call the secret service trigger happy?

txhsmom on July 23, 2009 at 8:44 AM

Race question was a planted question and the answer was preprepared and rehearsed. It was incredibly obvious that reporter was reading someone elses question…even she sounded uncomfortable playing the patsie for the Lying Ratsh!t in Chief.

THis is a make believe administration and they have their best actor playing a president on TV.

When america wakes up…its going to be very very ugly.

Ogabe might want to start putting some of that Bailout money in a swiss account and keep Air Force “The One” fueled and running.

BillaryMcBush on July 23, 2009 at 8:47 AM

1. That was a setup stupid question
2. Hussein, that is not your house
3. Scary knowing the man with his hand on the nuke button rushes to judgment.

Wade on July 23, 2009 at 8:52 AM

I used to do medical malpractice defense. I.e., I defended doctors, nurses, hospitals, etc. from lawsuits.

I love every one of these people, I love what they do, and I admire them.

However, one problem with defending doctors is that they feel compelled to answer every question. “I don’t know” and “I don’t have an opinion on that” are not in their vocabulary.

Obama is like a doctor on a witness stand. He would have been WAY better off to say, “That is for the Cambridge police and the professor to handle. I don’t have the facts, and I don’t have an opinion. Next question.”

RJGatorEsq. on July 23, 2009 at 9:04 AM

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2009/07/23/boston-globe-scrubs-henry-louis-gates-arrest-report-website

D2Boston on July 23, 2009 at 9:33 AM

About halfway through his little presser, I sent him email (I’m sure he’ll never see it of course, but I couldn’t resist) In it’s entirety the email read:

Dear Mr. Obama,
I can tell that you’re lying because your lips are moving”

I also made a point of including ALL of my personal information and requested a reply.

After the actions taken against a certain reserves major who refused orders to Afganistan till Obymama proved via birth certificate that he’s actually an American citizen, I’ll probably get fired from my job next week. The army rescinded the order to Afganistan but the next week someone had contacted the officer’s civilian employer and had the gentleman fired.

Vntnrse on July 23, 2009 at 10:13 AM

Wow – the blatant race card was shown in about 4 ways.

1. Admits he doesnt know the full account – but claims cops acted stupid, yet admits “I may be biased, Gates is a friend of mine”
2. Claims racial profling was to play here by saying “blacks and latinos are disproportionally arrested and profiled
3. Claims he would “have been shot” had it been his home in Chicago
4. Claims disorderly conduct cannot happen within someones home, namely to “a black guy”

I am glad the idiot asked the question. Even a bigger idiot answered.

I haven’t seen you post on this site too much before this morning. After spending a few minutes desperately trying to see some positive aspect to your contributions I am ready to concede. Your methods for presenting your opinions are poorly structured and — at least those comments on this thread — could easily be considered offensive. What you lack in substantive argument you make up for in baselessness.

So please demonstrate, using formal logic, how my opinions are poorly structured.

As for posting on this site, I’ve been posting on HotAir since Michelle and Allah set up the site. Allah and I go way back to his original blog. Actually, I was an early advertiser on the site (before it was affiliated with PJM) so I helped get the site on a sound financial footing.

doubt you would be able to persuade a reasoning reader with your MaD sKilZ.

Tom_OC

So persuade me and show me where my reasoning was wrong.

Frankly I find the notion of a society where innocent people have to kowtow to the police for fear of arrest despite no criminal activity to be far more offensive than anything I’ve said here.

Hurting a cop’s feelings isn’t a crime.

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 11:49 AM

I live in a free country, not a police state.

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 12:31 AM

wait until the Crap’n’trade compliance Gestapo gets a hold of you….

sven10077

It’s disappointing how so many posters don’t see that the Cambridge police and Obama are on the same team. You think many cops would refuse to enforce draconian laws passed by the Democrats?

Police unions are the loudest whiners when municipal budgets must be cut, and they’re the first to use scare tactics about loss of police “protection” at the same time that they will deny they have any obligation to protect you and your property.

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 11:53 AM

I think you were asked if you were a veteran because your childish disrespect for authority makes it obvious that you weren’t.

I respect legitimate authority. I despise abuse of power. I’m an American. Many of the posters here are a bit more ovine than that.

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 11:56 AM

Why should this statement shock, he champions all the lousy legislation that congress passed and never read (therefore, doesn’t know what they contain) them. Now without fact checking he declares the police at fault. See why he won’t release his college transcripts, what a great lawyer he would be. Maybe he should start giving his presser’s with his shirt off so the MSM will too be busy drooling to ask any questions.

hillbilly on July 23, 2009 at 12:08 PM

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 1:27 AM

I’m shocked that you do not recognize how low and disgraceful this is. For shame.

I was responding to a jerk in a language he’d understand. I didn’t start the personal attacks and I didn’t use a dead American hero as a trump card in a debate.

A hero is dead and someone who gets a hardon at the sight of a blue uniform uses that death to score political points in a debate. That’s despicable and low.

The poster wants to bask in the reflected heroism of his KIA buddy. That’s distasteful and disgraceful.

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 12:09 PM

Check this link and find the official police report which The Boston Globe has scrubbed from its website (big surprise).

Actually, it’s the Cambridge PD that has refused to release the police report, claiming a FOIA exemption. Why do you suppose that is, if it backs up the officer?

The only group completely backing the cop is his union. Do you believe public employee unions?

rokemronnie on July 23, 2009 at 12:11 PM

The Race Card has been a reliable play: whenever Obama is in trouble, he reminds us that he is black. The question was a plant & a disgrace.
