Open thread: Guy who “rescued” the economy going to “rescue” American health care too
posted at 7:21 pm on July 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
Alternate headline if Hot Air wasn’t a family site: “Let me be clear: The time has come to drive American health care into a f***ing ditch.” Only the press corps knows what’s in store for the Q&A but The One’s opening remarks will not disappoint. Evidently he’s going to go after Jim DeMint again for daring to suggest that this is all about him even though it is, in fact, and reportedly by his own admission, all about him. Plus this tasty morsel, which we’ll be feeding back to Barry for many, many years to come:
I have also pledged that health insurance reform will not add to our deficit over the next decade – and I mean it.
We’ll have video lowlights later, especially if someone other than Tapper and Major Garrett surprises by asking a tough question. For your drinking-game amusement, I recommend a sip every time he says something that you know he’ll be insisting he never said a year from now. E.g., “But let me be clear: We have always acknowledged the possibility of grandma waiting six years for a hip transplant.” Enjoy.
Update (Ed): I won’t be live-blogging this, but I’ll Twitter my reactions. You can follow along here, if you’re not on Twitter:

I think Levin is going to be on Hannity. Should be interesting.

I listened to this thing on radio, intermittently – just could not take it uninterrupted.
My take: the only stroke the guy put across was the thing about the “leading doctors’ and nurses’ associations” supporting Ogabe-Care.
Of course, intelligent people know that those organizations are as far Left as the teacher’s unions, but there must have been some idiot moderates out there who found that food for thought.
Maybe the GOP should point out that La Raza and other “immigrant’s rights” organizations are all for it, too.

“I’m the president so I have the best healthcare plan in the world”…
But this isn’t about me, so I want you to have the crappy healthcare plan… No more blue/red pills, cut all the expensive test your doctor orders, “if you are a senior and need expensive surgery, just take a pain pill”; I’m the president so I know best!

I live in one of the most liberal places in America – Marin County, CA – home to Babs Boxer.
A couple of months ago, I was on line at the local pharmacy. The were having problems with a new computer system, so the line was running over 30 minutes.
People were griping, grumbling.
So I said, to no one in particular, “Hey, get used to it. This is what your doctor’s office is gonna look like once we get socialized medicine.
Silence. People looking at the ceiling, at their shoes. They didn’t even have the guts to give me a dirty look.

My wife is an edondontist. If you come to her needing a root canal or oral surgery, your private plan will pay her $1500 to $2000.
Welfare insurance pays her $45 to $100.

point 1 – he refered to himself in the third person (by way of the Obama Administration) no less then 5 times. The way he was running the clock he must think he is Mike Jordan.
Point 2 - The second to last question was a plant. The guy who snuck in the question got a lot of Mayo and Cleavlend clinic answers that were not part of the origional question. Then the next question was all about the Cleavland clinic. This must have screwed Obama up pretty badly.
point 3 – Nothing else but to say that he hurt himself more then helped himself tonight.
IMO – he is the model for Scott the Canadian from South Park

My wife was a physician in Russia. I specifically counselled her to go to the expense and effort of dental school here because of Medicare and the potential for socialized medicine.
So far, so good. But veterinary medicine might have been a better call.

I think HA didn’t like my link to urban dictionary.
Where I grew up it was slang for penis – it has many meanings none of which involve getting into a house. It’s like when people accidently say they are “”putzing” around the house” instead of “puttering” (putz is yiddish for penis) – a funny mis-spoken word. Becoming a dental specialist takes a long, time, too.
And you’re required to work in your Ivy League dental school’s urban clinic, which, in my wife’s case, meant several accidental needle jabs in her fingers while working on patients with HIV and Hepatitis C.

I unfortunately missed Mr. Obama’s blathering earlier so am joining in late but will someone please tell me how he is still able to turn the screws? Does he really believe he is right? Do his people believe he is right? or are they just all nincompoops with giant egos and liars bent on destroying the USA as we know it? Each day I am mystified by the monstrous proposals by Mr. Obama and his ilk that go unanswered giving the government control of our money, our personal information, our choices, and our liberties.
Mr. Obama speaks out of both sides of his mouth and thinks he is making sense? Watching the few clips I have, he looks like an man whose ego is so desperate to be right and will say and do anything to calm himself, including living in a fantasy world where physics and science don’t matter and only he has the true answers. I am really worried.
I want my country back.
