Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on July 22, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

For the standard-issue gaffe, one normally looks to Vice President Joe Biden, but this week he’s girl-watching in Ukraine, so we’ll stick with Barack Obama for today.  Politico reports that Obama accidentally told the truth about ObamaCare in a speech at Childrens National Medical Center in Washington Monday.  In the speech, he explained that ObamaCare would work a lot like the VA and the Indian Health Service:

Would health care reform bring “greater inefficiencies” to the country’s health care system?

That’s exactly what Obama said Monday when he spoke about health care reform at the Childrens National Medical Center in Washington.

“The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system,” Obama said in remarks after a health care roundtable with physicians, nurses and health care providers. “And greater stability and security to America’s families and businesses.”

The White House inserted a [sic] in the official transcript. I’m not sure why. It may be the most honest thing Obama has said yet about ObamaCare.

Addendum: Normally I’d put a link to Chris Muir’s Day by Day site here, but today I want to do more than that. Chris has a fundraising drive to keep his excellent cartoon alive.  Be sure to drop a few dollars in his collection to keep one of the Rightosphere’s most talented warriors in the fight!

Crinkly old white men don’t do well against charismatic narcissists as we’ve been shown with Dole vs Clinton and McCain vs Obama (and probably Nixon vs Kennedy).

I know a crinkly old white man that can do well against a charismatic narcissist.

MSM headline: Rahm Throws TOTUS Against The Wall After The President’s Fruedian Slip.
Poor TOTUS we knew ye well.

This past weekend I walked by them and I was shocked. Their message was “Stop Obama – He’s ruining the country”. I wandered over to talk to them and got an earful on how we must stop the healthcare plan, cap and trade, etc. My favorite line was: He’s turning out to be worse than Bush”.

Maybe they are just anti-establishment people but if they are shouting out this message, I’ll take it.

This made me laugh. I can just imagine a group of aging hippies on January 21st 2009. After eight years of railing against Bush/Cheney over the election results, war in Afghanistan, war in Iraq, etc..they are suddenly adrift and don’t know where to focus all that hatred.

I suspect they aren’t anti-establishment as much as they need a convenient target to focus their need to protest.

Do you think speaking out has ever caused you to get a lower grade?

Ann NY on July 22, 2009 at 9:21 AM

Twice I believe.

the rest of the time, the classes had 400 people in them when I harassed them

Journalism I believe I got a C- because in part of our final, when we had to write a review of the class, I called them all jokes and pathetic garbage spewers, etc, etc. I mean, I didn’t put the work in because I hated the class, but I at least should have gotten a B-

So I think that letter gave me the C- (totally worth it)

The other class was Euro History
my TA graded our papers and stuff, and when she saw me filming her and other speakers at an anti-war/anti-school budget cut/pro commie hell-care march around campus, I suddenly got poor grades.

But again, totally worth it

I did not mean to insult the Crinkly Old White-Americans, but we do live in an age where many people reach the peak of their emotional development around age 16, and the old white guy has lost his appeal to them.

edit — so since they were huge, I kinda was able to say what I wanted and they’d forget who i was

I think I can navigate my way through most of it, but they do force you to take a couple of non-history social studies classes. Now Bard just got rid of the guy who wrote a book stating that anti-communism was a mental disorder, but they still have a class on Marxism as a cure for global warming (which would be torture to take).

Columbia has classes that big, but Bard is really small and I think the largest class is 17 people so there’s no anonymity there.

In my aforementioned Euro History class, my TA was a specialist in Russian history, who was kind enough to inform us that the Leninist and Stalinist experience was “not real communism.”

I wish you all the best in your new endeavor

I would avoid Women’s Studies as well. I took a couple and they were awful. I’m interested in history from a female’s perspective, and history about females, but these classes are just excuses for angry women to bash white males.

Ann NY on July 22, 2009 at 9:38 AM

Yea that’s when the heart rate gets going — when you say something in an intimate situation

I recently got into a fight with some libs in my US Foreign Policy class, which was small, about torture. Nothing like berating someone two feet away from you

It wasn’t a gaffe at all. He was being honest, for once.

I’m sure you’re right but I did enjoy their rage towards The One. I wish their need to shower was as important as their need to protest. I had to keep my distance during the conversation.

LOL need to shower

I’ve always maintained they never do

but that’s obvious so I’m a real Sherlock!

I know am a narcissistic crinkly old white man that can do well against a child charismatic narcissist, if less than two years of age.
