Obama: Greedy doctors are coming after your tonsils or something

Gee, I’m really sorry I decided to skip this for “Ghost Hunters.” Watching The One explain how the medical industry has designs on your body parts would have been much better in hindsight. To think: The day is coming when instead of forcing you to take unnecessary tests, doctors will force you not to take necessary ones because they no longer have the resources to process them. Take that, profit motive.
This is what happens when you take health advice from a guy with a lifelong smoking habit. Exit question: Any truth to the rumor that Obama’s going to impose a new surtax on fatties? “But let me be clear: The time has come to put away the fudge.”

By his answer to this question, Obama proves his lack of understanding of the free market and his basic lack of faith in it.
There are no barriers of entry for anyone starting a health insurance company.
If premiums are really TOO HIGH for the care which people need, then there would be a HUGE opening for a new insurance company to offer a NEW cheaper insurance plan and still make money – maybe MORE money because they would attract a HUGE number of applicants.
The fact that they don’t is NOT because there is no competition; it’s because there is no such thing as cheaper care which is better.
Teddy Kennedy is not seeking the cheapest care; he is seeking the best REGARDLESS of cost or cost benefit.
That’s why he is alive.
A government plan such as Obama’s would NOT pay for the care Teddy has been getting.
As another smarter blogger noted – at NRO, if I recall correctly – we don’t need a government grocery store to keep grocery proces competitve. And we don’t need a government airline, or a government hair salon or a government clothing company to keep those industries competitive.
Government colleges have not meant that Ivy League schools charge less.
The whole STATED rationale is bogus.
A LIE.
Obamacare is merely a power grab by leftist polticians.

Jezzzzzusssss F’ing Criminey. I can’t believe that this moron is the President.
Does he even TALK to doctors or medical people before pulling crap like that out of his arse? Oh, that just makes me want to cringe with cringe-y-ness.

El_Terrible on July 22, 2009 at 10:40 PM
You have that right on.
My wife is an ER/Trauma nurse at a Level 1 trauma center and she tells me that the same people come into the ER multiple times a week with the same set of complaints and get irradiated, magnetized and shot full of isotopes just to keep the doctors, staff and hospital from being threatened with litigation. If they miss something, no matter how trivial it is, the people “working the system” cry “sue” at the drop of a hat.
If there was a true debate about health care costs, tort reform would make the top of the list of things to help reduce costs.

Obama is disingenuous on the Tonsil issue as well, decisions are not made capriciously – especially surgery.
Guidelines from the American Academy of Otolaryngology to consider a T & A:
seven sore throats in one year
five sore throats in each of two years
three sore throats in each of three years
It’s not some decision made with a price guide in hand – and it’s made in conjunction with the parents. It was astonishing that he out & out accused the Physicians of committing assault (unnecessary surgery to gain money). Where was any discussion on TORT REFORM?

So, the profits are too high. So does that mean the next people to join the lines of the unemployed will be people who used to work for insurance companies? And how much money do these companies invest in other areas? Once we get rid of that profit, what then?

I’ve read Krauthammer for years and years but if the “joke” is between him and Obama and no one else I’m getting angry. There’s enough meatrial to work with on the substance of what that man is saying. Tonight he did exactly what he did after each debate: the “no one can deliver like him, he’s just so cool and calm….” If that’s biting sarcasm then it’s pissing me off. Mark Levin was 100 percent on target.
Marcus on July 22, 2009 at 10:43 PM
Doctor Obama says maybe you should stop asking for me to remove your tonsils and deal with the fact that you have allergies.
Also, instead of asking me for a new freaking pacemaker maybe you should take some painkillers instead.
While describing the “waste in the system”
, Dr. Obama said,
-Commenting doctor notes, “some heart arrhythmias are deadly, and a doctor telling a patient to take a pain killer to treat V-tach or V-fib should be guilty of malpractice”

True, but killing the patient lowers the cost of health care.
Many arrythmias are dangerous. A-fib can kill you too.

I’ve been laboring in the vineyards of corporate America for 30 years.
If anybody in that world ever spent an hour babbling so stupidly in front of an audience, the response would have been, “What a clueless d–k.”
To which someone else might have replied, “Yeah, well, you know, affirmative action…”
guntotinglibertarian on July 22, 2009 at 10:46 PM
I’m going way out on a limb here but my guess is that most doctors DO NOT HATE the USA.
Hence why the obumbler attacked them.
BTW, this gets an affirmative action president an A+++++…and if you don’t think so…then clearly…you are a RACIST.

First of all, I think the press conf. was a train wreck.
Obama doesn’t seem to be a very emotive person; he seems to always be above everything in terms of feeling.
But tonight, he was pissed.
Then I watched msnbc for a bit to get their (usually twisted) take on things. Wow. It was almost like watching fox.
Fineman came on and said it was bad. Same thing Juan said.
Matthews has made a big deal out of the “cops were stupid” comment.
Just made me think about how “stupid” and “incoherent” Palin is accused of being. Does anybody know what Obama was saying, other then gov’t health care would be better in every way compared to private insurance?
I guess I’m just not enlightened and snobby enough to understand what higher intelligences like Obama is touching on.
/s
Wow, I think health care died tonight. Obama kept saying “this is not about me!”. Looking at him tonight reminded me of how he looked when Hillary cleaned his clock after that last debate.
He just needed the middle finger salute.
People were saying back in the campaign how “cool” and “level headed” and “so much smarter” then everyone he was.
6 months into his term, he’s pretty much F’d.
If only Biden would say something smart to sa-…oh wait.
Ya, thank god we don’t have that complete imbecilic moron Palin in charge of things. /s

I think he was being sarcastic. If you rewatch it with that in mind, I think you may change your mind. He was almost chuckling as he said some of it. His point was Obama said a lot, in a smooth manner, but really said nothing at all. He essentially said he’s good at that – saying nothing in a calm and cool manner. It’s a snide, backdoor put down. Perfect Krauthammer, IMHO.

This is what you get when 52% of the electorate swallows the rhetoric of hope and change AND a lapdog media sucking up on every word like it was free chocolate cake. Even now moderates are too invested in this charade to admit they supported the first manchurian candidate in U.S. history. With the “Clinton Machine” fully entrenched in the administration AND idiots like Pelosi running the far left socialist agenda, it may take years to rectify the damage. The only current “hope” is that cap n trade and this health care fiaso gets delayed long enough for these democrats to return to their districts to get an firm earfull from their constituents who should be threatening their careers. Obama knows full well that a recess without passage of this nightmare will most likely put an end to his plans for government control, ie money and power. His “thoughts” tonight helped to confirm the man has no idea what he’s doing……..but at least we still know he’s the President.

I have a story:
I used to be a competitive cyclist. Once, on a training ride, a teammate took me down, and, as a result, I had horrible back pain (sciatica, torn muscles, etc.)
The chiropractor I went to see did wonderful things to get me back on track, and each visit was $30. Three visits later, my deductible taken care of, he charged $30 for each procedure. Electro? $30. Massage? $30. Heat? $30. Traction? $30. Adjustment? $30. Office visit? $30. Each visit after that he stuck it to the insurance company around $200. And the care was not as good, as I saw it. Rushed, perfunctory, just not good. I was better off paying for it myself.
How will something like that figure in to the ‘public option?’

What an absolute joke that this country has for a President – even a 10 year old boy/girl would be able to communicate better – not to forget, small children would KNOW BETTER than to say that the doctor is pulling out their tonsils for “profit motives” !!!
When you were raised by a communist mentor (Frank Marshall Davis), went to the church of an openly anti-American race hustler and got your first break in politics because of your friendship with a terrorist leftist-radical, “profit motive” can be used to explain all your paranoias about the world.
If the millions of Americans who voted for this numskull are not ashamed of this disgraceful performance, this country is truly headed on the road to slavery and serfdom.

Hey equality, you leftist troll, until you start working in the healthcare industry you need to STFU. Docs and Hospitals get audited and those audits are a real b!tch. If you get caught the fines and penalties are backbreaking. The GOV has their fingers in everything now and that is one of the main reasons our healthcare costs are so outrageous. Get the stupid politicians and the Fed out of the healthcare industry and you’ll see cost drop and care improve. If you are so sure about your Savior, Obama, then name ONE friggin Gov program that works and isn’t slow, outdated, and bankrupt. You can’t. No one can. Canada is trying to revamp their broken socialized medicine and have started to allow private insurance companies to enter the market. Most European countries are revamping their socialized healtcare because of the costs and the poor service. Trolls like you never leave this country, you think you are too smart for all of us rednecks in fly-over country. You sit in your coffee shops and college commons and bash hard working realists that pay taxes. I’m military and have your desired ‘universal’ health care. I tore a rotator cuff on my last deployment to Iraq and in 2 years I still can’t get the docs to do anymore than give me 800mg Motrin. We call it vitamin M because that is the military medical answer to EVERY healtcare problem. Once I retire they will pass me and my health issues off to the VA system to get some of the most horrific health care on the planet. No, YOU and all of YOUR small minded ‘intellectuals’ can keep your ‘universal’ healthcare. I’ve seen how great it kills people.
