Boehner to Emanuel: Hey, thanks for “rescuing” the economy
posted at 4:02 pm on July 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
Two vids, one from last night and the other from this morning, anticipating The One’s mind-boggling forthcoming assertion at tonight’s presser that Obamanomics is working. The second clip barely captures the extent of yesterday’s message discipline, actually: More than 100 House Republicans took to the floor to pose the question of the hour, leading to an uncharacteristic Steny Hoyer tantrum in response. The first clip is self-explanatory but reminds me why, in spite of everything, I can’t help liking Rahm Emanuel just a tiny bit. Imagine the elephant balls you’d need to blow $800 billion on a failed stimulus and then turn around and tell the New York Times you’re a big success. Unemployment at 9.5 percent and climbing, $23 trillion potentially spent to fix the economy, and this galactic tool has the stones to raise the “Mission Accomplished” banner over the U.S.S. Hopenchange. You’re welcome, America.

I was thinking more along the lines of:
“Hello, I’m President Ogabe and I would like to blame everything bad that has happened on George Bush. Thank you and God bless Iran.”

Yep. Shocking (no Aaron Schock pun intended)! We have a few in IL. That O’Hare airport district that Roskam reps has been (R) for quite awhile. He took over for the very good Henry Hyde. Used to live in that district.

And they’ll take credit for ANYTHING good that comes out of this economy. I say again, we better be careful not to overplay this thing or even a MINOR recovery in 2010 from the depths they’ve sunk will be hailed as a great victory in time for the mid-terms.

Not to belabor the point (that’s right I said belabor) I am sort of surprised that Illinois and especially Michigan have GOP reps; they just struck me as states who would go heavily for ‘rats.
Then again I’m from Minnesota and I find myself shocked that this state hasn’t rounded up and killed all the conservatives, so perhaps I’m just being dense.

My man, if Ogabe so much as takes a painless dump in the morning the MSM whores will proclaim it as ironclad evidence of an economy roaring back.
In early 2010 the stimucrap funds are going to flood out of D.C. so fast that people will think that tectonic plates are colliding on the east coast; I’m not sure we can overplay our hand with that working against us.

I’m guessing it has something to do with the more rural areas. I still remember being surprised when we moved to Michigan for a few years, how outside of Detroit etc. there was lots of farmland, much of the state seems to shut down for deer hunting season, etc.
Still moved out when I got a chance, though.

Could be rural areas, though that too surprises me because MN rural areas aren’t exactly GOP strongholds; the conservatives seem to be clustered in the exurbs and townships, places such as where I live.
The demorat party in Minnesota is still often referred to as the DFL: “Demorat Farmer/Labor.

In IL we have Republicans, but we do not have a Republican party. There is no cohesion since the George Ryan flame out!I wish Peter Fitzgerald did not become disgusted with politics. Your right, that might be a hard sell. I’m done.
Laura in Maryland on July 22, 2009 at 4:52 PM
Makes sense, though it stands to reason that you have some very red districts to elect Pubs, considering that the party is in disarray and perhaps not as helpful to individuals during campaigns as states with stronger GOP organizations.
MN’s GOP seems pretty cohesive, they are good at fighting back when they need to, and there is simply no getting around the deep pockets of red voters who wouldn’t vote liberal if you held a gun to our heads.
