Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on July 21, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
This one comes from Gateway Pundit, who caught Barack Obama blame-shifting in an egregiously amateurish fashion. Barack Obama once again tried to blame Republicans for the deficits that Obama currently has on his hands, but this time fumbled it rather badly:
“I want to be very clear,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address to the nation. “I will not sign on to any health plan that adds to our deficits over the next decade. And by helping improve quality and efficiency, the reforms we make will help bring our deficits under control in the long term.”…
“The same folks who controlled the White House and Congress for the past eight years as we ran up record deficits will argue — believe it or not — that health reform will lead to record deficits,” Mr. Obama said. “That’s simply not true.”
Actually, Democrats controlled Congress from January 2007 forward. Obama should know; he was one of the Democrats who controlled the Senate. As for the FY2009 budget, Obama was also one of the Democrats who delayed consideration of the final plan until he himself could take office, as his fellow Democrats passed continuing resolutions to play keep-away from George Bush and avoid his veto on their big-spending plans.
But don’t blame Obama too much for getting this wrong. After all, he was barely around.
Addendum: Normally I’d put a link to Chris Muir’s Day by Day site here, but today I want to do more than that. Chris has a fundraising drive to keep his excellent cartoon alive. Be sure to drop a few dollars in his collection to keep one of the Rightosphere’s most talented warriors in the fight!

It’s become so that “I want to be very clear” is code for “I’m going to lie to you.”
Frankly, I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t point out the MOAO (mother of all Obamteurisms) that showed up yesterday. Suddenly the filthy liar is claiming that the healthcare reform bill isn’t about him. Of course it is all about him and he damn well knows it but the problem with leading a cult instead of a nation is that when your polling numbers drop so do the number of cultists.
Fact of the matter is that if it were really about the bill, the filthy liar would have called in a bipartisan group of Congressional leaders and worked out something that could be supported by all. Instead he has made healthcare reform a signature issue and it is going down in flames.

Ed, check out section 1233 of the House bill, HR 3200. Basically it means when you get older, you have to talk with your doctor every 5 years about the range of “end of life” options. Which could include “death with dignity” aka euthanasia.
Label it the “Logan’s Run” Provision.

It appears Obama is not as politically savy as we’ve been lead to believe. His tactic of passing off any lie as truth simply because he says it and because the media will let him get away with it is not working as it once did. Given many recent polls, Americans in general are not buying his most blatant lies and are realising Obama grossly mischaracterised himself during the election.

Wasn’t there some poll after last year’s election that showed that a huge number of Obama voters actually thought the Republicans still controlled Congress the past two years? So it turns out the Obots’ Supreme Leader Himself made the same error? Maybe the lefties really are living in a fantasy world.
jwolf on July 21, 2009 at 10:19 AM
Sadly Pinnochios’ voters are simply too stoopid to realize who controlled the House and Senate and who held up the Bush budget so they could get theirs in place instead.
Pinnochio supporters are too stoopid and Pinnochio is all too happy to lie his ass off to them. After all which of the major network Presstitutes will challenge him on it?
Time to drive the scum from D.C. and hang the media from the corner lapposts.
Buyin ammo and rope!

dhunter on July 21, 2009 at 10:25 AM
Not a fantasy world, just the “other America” that John Edwards kept talking about.
It is almost painful to watch. All these morons that truly believed that electing a black militant racist with no credentials would solve all the nation’s problems overnight. The filthy liar would come into office and be dispensing cars, homes, and jobs to his suporters faster as if it were a giant game show. Six months later, the filthy liar has rewarded the special interests with billions but that hasn’t trickled down to your average supporter. They are beginning to question where “theirs” is which isn’t the same thing as being appalled about all that has gone wrong in government since Jan 20th but waking up the greedy people is a good start to leveraging change.

And no one should believe that this was a mistake by Obama. He fully intends to mislead the American people and perpetuate lies and myths.

I think it will become “very clear” to Mr. Obama very soon.
This delay of his health care experiment is going to do exactly what he was trying to avoid. The Congress critters get to go home for recess and get an earful from their constituents. Obama did not want that to happen.
Obama can try to blame anyone he wants. The truth is, after the August recess, more and more voters are going to believe that Obama actually owns this economy and has exacerbated the problems with his rush to cause-and-solve the crisis.
Meanwhile the unemployment numbers will continue to climb. The truth about the travesty called the Stimulus Plan will become known to more taxpayers. The waste will be highlighted. The non-job producing pork will be discussed.
All of these things will become more clear to the voter, and they will begin to demand that Obama become very clear about his lies.
He could ill afford this delay. Obama has hit the wall.
Yoop on July 21, 2009 at 10:45 AM
good one, will add to the list…
cmsinaz on July 21, 2009 at 10:55 AM
And, as others have noted, that’s when the economy really started the downward spiral. But as is the agenda of the Libs/Progs/Dems, lie lie lie and spin spin spin, and rewrite history at every opportunity! Obama is adept at doing just that.
Good to see Hot Air back! Thought you had a DOS attack or some such going on, but no one else in the Blogosphere was commenting on it, so didn’t know if that was the case. And I don’t twitter, but might have to break down next time just to find out for sure. That was a long ‘blank screen’ spell!

I want to make this very clear, sounds like the president we had during 69-74. The reason the stupid people thought the GOP ran the congress 07-09 was that the state run media told them that. Now off subject it seems that Hillary wants that dictator reinstalled in Honduras. BO must on figure he will run for a third and probably a fourth term.

True, in 07 The dems took complete control of both housed so 2 of those eight year claim is bogus, but what I don’t get, is/was Daschle a Republican when he was United States Senate Majority Leader June 6, 2001 – January 3, 2003?
Does Obama know the Senate is ½ of Congress?
Does Obama know the Congress is responsible for the countries purse strings?
Another observation?
Dec 2006, just before the dems took full control of both houses of congress.
From the Bureau of Labor Statistics
Or as Obama calls it “the bad failed days of the past”.
Thankfully the ADULTS are in charge so we won’t have to see a disaster like Hawaii’s 2.0 percent unemployment again!

In summery Since Dems took control of Congress and the presidency America has lost 7.2 million jobs, 3,690,000 (3.69 million) since Obama took office.
