Obama: The Mayo Clinic is a beacon on health care; Mayo Clinic: ObamaCare stinks

posted at 5:15 pm on July 20, 2009 by Allahpundit

Even dumber than the time he claimed Caterpillar had promised to re-hire workers if the stimulus passed, only to have the CEO tell reporters about five minutes later that the stimulus wouldn’t work fast enough to let them re-hire workers.

And the Mayo shall lead us:

Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill – including insurance for all and payment reform demonstration projects – the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite.

In general, the proposals under discussion are not patient focused or results oriented. Lawmakers have failed to use a fundamental lever – a change in Medicare payment policy – to help drive necessary improvements in American health care. Unless legislators create payment systems that pay for good patient results at reasonable costs, the promise of transformation in American health care will wither. The real losers will be the citizens of the United States.

See MKH’s post at the Standard for a few of The One’s greatest Mayo-praising hits. Presumably the problems with the House bill could be solved via negotiations if the Democrats were interested first and foremost in producing a good bill. Which, of course, they’re not. Exit question: Is the sturm und drang starting to affect Obama’s concentration? Behold your Freudian slip/Kinsleyan gaffe of the day.

You owe an apology. Try checking the main page and looking at the Foreign Student Program! Can’t Axelrod find anyone with basic intelligence? At least the minimum wage goes up for you soon.

Thank you. But next time, “I quit. Good luck President Biden.

He never even pauses whenever he says something stupid like that.

Most people (if they had any idea what they were talking about) would realize that they’d gaffed it and correct themselves.

It just shows how blindly he reads whatever is put in front of him….

Is this ass-clown really a better speaker than GW? He makes just as many, if not more, mistakes! He stutters and mutters like a bumbling idiot, and is a compulsive liar!!!

Obama is like a slippery slimy used car salesman, except in this case, the car is obamacare.

GW might have been a cowboy, but at least he was an honest broker, probably a little too honest for politics sake.

Biden’s not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but at least he doesn’t harbor an intense, burning hatred for the United States.

Medicare actually “was” a working program until the passing of the Kennedy Kassebaum bill in the 80’s. After the passing of this regulation the billing for pathology, anesthesia, , xrays, laboratory, etc related services provided in a hospital setting was outlawed which forced the doctors to bill separately and independently for their services, then to collect the uncovered amounts through collection agencies. This bill ruined the medicare system and started the decline of the healthcare industry. Do you really want a second round of this to completely destroy the private healthcare industry totally, it will happen with this current legislation. This legislation does not need to pass.

Try again, dipstick. There’s also this program, which is the one which was being referenced:

http://foreign.fulbrightonline.org/

From that page: Interested in Applying?
If you live in one of the countries listed below, you may be eligible for a Fulbright Foreign Student grant for study in the United States.

Will you apologize for your baseless slur? I doubt it.
