Video: ObamaCare may fund abortions

Will ObamaCare use taxpayer money to fund abortions? Chris Wallace asks budget director Peter Orszag the explosive question on Fox News Sunday today, and Orszag attempts to dodge it. Wallace presses him for an answer on whether the White House will rule that out, and Orszag declines to do so. However, the answer is rather obvious:

Barack Obama and the Democrats, especially those on the hard Left, want two things. They want unfettered access to abortion on demand, which they will pursue through the Freedom of Choice Act … eventually, if Obama’s polling numbers stop sliding. That effort can also be accomplished through a health-care reform bill that provides a “public plan” as a Trojan horse for taxpayer-funded abortions. After all, universal care means universal coverage, and pro-abortion Democrats believe that abortions are an integral part of gynecology.

That isn’t limited to just the pro-abortion Democrats, either. Harry Reid, who advertises himself as “pro-life” said in March that he would vote for a health-care bill that provided taxpayer-funded abortions. There will be few if any Democrats in Congress that will stop health-care reform on the basis of taxpayer funding for abortions.

Same entity “serviced” by Government:

Same kid/same “mother”

Option 1: I want the baby. (Prenatal car)

Option 2: I don’t want the baby. (It’s a tumor, kill it)

Only a woman could understand logic like that.

Jeff from WI on July 19, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Do not got too distracted by that ‘reconcillation’ story.

That process will not allow for new funding and this turkey of an idea needs trillions.

Freddy on July 19, 2009 at 7:37 PM

Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D.-Md.) slipped an amendment into the Senate health care bill that would allow the administration to mandate that insurance companies cover abortion and taxpayers pay for it.

Alright. That does it. I’m sick of Reid and his b.s. It’s time to start pressuring the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to excommunicate him, nothing he stands for jibes with their worldview, or their afterworld view. His Temple Recommend needs to be pulled.

Maybe Mitt Romney can help you with that…………..

Seven Percent Solution on July 19, 2009 at 9:27 PM

I really do not understand the left. How can the same people who will riot in the street chanting that they don’t want the government deciding if they can have an abortion, now see it as a great idea for the government to decide if they can have an appendectomy? Really, what am I missing in that logic?

MikeA on July 19, 2009 at 10:33 PM

Really, what am I missing in that logic?

MikeA on July 19, 2009 at 10:33 PM

It is an absence of logic. You will drive yourself mad trying to understand it. Work to defeat it.

This has been bugging me all day. I finally have it.

Tell me he doesn’t look like he could be the kid of the guy who played the nerdy Eugene Felnic in Grease (1978). The actor’s name is Eddie Deezen.

Gosh darn. I should never post immediately upon getting up.
I meant Catholic pro-choice politicians should be excommunicated, as should be obvious. But I’m betting morons will make a big deal out of an obvious slip.

I guess. But it is mind boggling that there are so many people, assumbly about half of 350 million of us, that are afflicted with this mental deficit. More than a little scary, especially now that they are running the country. Peole who can’t grasp such simple logic should not be running anything.

MikeA on July 20, 2009 at 7:28 AM

Hey, I support a woman’s right to choose, but I’ll be damned if I am going to pay for her choice!

redshirt on July 19, 2009 at 1:15 PM

Why is it that pro-abortion never want to talk about what’s being chosen — the deliberate killing of a helpless, innocent baby?

I’m trying to get through to some pro-abortion liberals (oops, that’s redundant) by pointing out that abortion is devastating the black population of this country. As I pointed out on another thread, data from the Guttmacher Institute (BFF with Planned Parenthood), by way of the National Right to Life Committee, shows that black women of child-bearing age constitute only 14% of America’s population, but they have 32% of the abortions.

Almost HALF of black pregnancies end in abortion, but only about one in six white pregnancies.

Planned Parenthood puts around 70% of their abortuaries in or near minority neighborhoods.

The majority of American people enthusiastically put Obama and his fellow babykillers into office. If there is a God in whose image these babies are made, our country is headed for a cosmic kidney punch.

People who aren’t racist should be appalled by those figures. Please pass the numbers on to any one you can. For more info, visit nrlc.org or protectingblacklife.org.

KyMouse on July 20, 2009 at 8:07 AM

sure its cheaper than 9 months of pregnancy care including ultrasound and birth. also one less person to care for.
Abortion is being used as birth control. A woman has aright to say no, a right to say do not enter, use a condom, or use birth control, but once pregnant, the child has the right to life.

Their is no doubt:

He has gone on record supporting abortions, gambling, and he does not condemn the dem party endorsing same sex marriage.
All of those are explicitly Mormon policy…no gambling, or support in any way.
No endorsement, or support in any way of same sex partners.
Abortion in only a few exceptional cases.
Any other person would be “dumped” by the Mormon leadership.

bluelightbrigade on July 20, 2009 at 8:59 AM

Three strikes of the staff on the floor and Reid will be excommunicated, I cannot wait. It’s not his soul on trial, it will be his membership in the Church. God has final say on his soul.

The Mormons probably figure why give up the money and prestigue of having a member in power if the Catholics leave lots of pro-abortion people in for the exact same reason.

Everyone is going to find themselves anti-abortion when care gets rationed. If you have to wait 12 hours in the emergency room for your sick child to be seen by a doctor, or your mom waits six months for a hip replacement, you’ll question every procedure that is done and why, including abortion.

Laura in Maryland on July 20, 2009 at 10:32 AM

Aren’t long waits and sub-standard care intentional? The longer the wait the better the chance someone dies while waiting and therefore the government doesn’t have to spend money for treatment. Unhygenic hospitals, not providing medicine because of cost, that’ll end up killing people too. That’s cost effective … right?

That’s what’s happening in Canada … people waiting just die and Voila! no money spent!

This Orzag twit is the perfect example of the brainless fawning empty-suits making up the entire Empty Suit administration. This guy has never had a DATE, yet they let him go on national television and blather?

bradley11 on July 20, 2009 at 11:27 AM

As far as lobotomies go, I think Nancy Pelosi has already had several, masquerading as Botox treatments. It’s the only explanation for her present existence.

bradley11 on July 20, 2009 at 11:29 AM

Peter Orszag … how old is that guy? Is there anyone in the Obama administration that has actual real work experience in their related field? Seems they are all either wet-behind-the-ears intellectuals or old politicians.

Texas Gal on July 20, 2009 at 12:03 PM

That’s the great thing about Obamacare. There’s something in it for everyone to hate. The only ones who really love it are the politicians who will force it upon the rest of us. And guess what we will do about it. That’s right. We will reelect our scum representative while we urge the other guy to vote his representative out.

I saw one on Fox news channel this morning and was frankly disgusted by it.
Two Mid Age folks discussing how everyone deserves care and we should take politics out of it.

It was hard not to spew up my wheaties at that point.

Obamacare: The first SHOVEL READY project we’ve seen thus far.

Obama started CPR on Obamacare on Friday afternoon.
His sycophants like Orzsag continued pumping on its chest on Sunday talk shows.
He planned a little presser for Wednesday…
He knew the patient may be dead by then…
So he had to get out there and keep defibrillating today.

Obamacare is bleeding profusely, it’s lungs are full of fluid, Dr. Obamastein is bagging the hell out of it.
All the rational people are backing away from the table and taking their gloves off–the masks pulled down… eyes low.

Obama’s instructions: KEEP WORKING, ahhhghh KEEP PUMPING, we have to keep it alive!

—the patient dies… it wasn’t meant to be.

There’s a grassy plot right next to another relative, HillaryCare….

It’s Shovel ready….. let’s bury it.

ted c on July 20, 2009 at 2:03 PM

Ed and AP:

I dare you to ask the question: “Is Obamacare Shovel Ready?”

I double dog dare you

Fallen Sparrow on July 19, 2009 at 9:20 PM

I would gladly defy it and suffer whatever temporal consequences there would be to do it. The problem is that I am just a worker bee and my taxes are withheld without my express consent or any action on my part. I am not wealthy enough to have to pay at the end of the year so I wouldn’t know how to go about not paying. This health care debacle will require people who pay quarterly or yearly to pay a surtax, they are the ones who will need to stand up and say no.

texaninfidel on July 20, 2009 at 6:54 PM

Sure they’ll fund abortions. If we ever get to the full swing Obamacare I can’t imagine abortions wouldn’t eventually be government mandated. Hey, a single welfare Mom, not working, on their 2,3,4,5th kid… So much for womens rights or choice. It might seem a bit pessimistic view but I could see it becoming law the way things seem to be going- the government wouldn’t be able to afford not to… And they won’t be able to afford my hip replacement someday when I turn 61 and have been forced onto national healthcare.

wubu on July 20, 2009 at 8:53 PM

I know that it has probably been said already… But, funding them, mandating them, even doing them to his own kids… It’s all about paying that debt to the Devil.

Following the mad recommendations of Peter Singer made in NYT’s Sunday magazine, it pays to take a look at what is actually in the healthcare bill.

It’s worse than you can possibly imagine. Somehow, it manages to be Singer on steroids. Who wrote this bill. It has Singer’s footprints all over it.

I think there should be some kind of charity fund, where rich liberals can send contributions to fund abortions, instead of using taxpayers’ money.

All it needs is a really cool acronym.
