Quote of the day

“As for soon-to-be departing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Paul dismisses her supporters as ‘more establishment, conventional Country-Club type of Republicans.’

‘I wonder whether she’s energizing the 15-20 year olds,’ Paul muses. ‘That would be a question I would have. Because she doesn’t talk about the Federal Reserve and some of these issues. She doesn’t talk too much about personal liberties, civil liberties, getting rid of drug laws, attacking the war on drugs, punishing people who torture.’

Worse still, he adds, Palinites are partisans: ‘If Obama was the only one who was guilty, they would be on his case all the time, but there is a lot of partisanship and I am probably less partisan and therefore she is going to appeal to partisan Republicans better.’”

Anyway, isn’t there a law that Hawai’ians can’t complain about anything?

Loxodonta on July 20, 2009 at 3:53 AM

Yup, there is.
No Vote, No Grumble.

I voted. I grumble.

Kini on July 20, 2009 at 3:56 AM

Well, I am sincerely sorry, but you will have to find another grumbling partner for the evening.

Cheshire Puss, would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?

That depends a good deal on where you want to get to, said the Cat.

To bed.

Turn off your browser, turn around in your chair, stand up, take two steps, and then lean forward.

Goodnight all.

Loxodonta on July 20, 2009 at 4:07 AM

Is he even a republican? Goodness, man…there is a way to be a conservative republican-libertarian leaner and not sound like a complete moron.

Mommypundit on July 20, 2009 at 5:47 AM

Country Club Republicans? *Looks around* You mean someone in this household has money and they’re not telling me?!?! For God’s sake, I need to put gas in my car! Hook me up. :D

Anyways…NOW I KNOW this guy’s a few cards short of a deck. *Raises eyebrow* Partisan/Establishment/Elitist my behind.

LiquidH2O on July 20, 2009 at 6:40 AM

Paul is trying that Old 60’s lie…tying everyone into a country club Republican, part of the establishment…old and tired, but his base will eat it up because they are so “independent”.

right2bright on July 20, 2009 at 6:57 AM

Talking about the Federal Reserve is what energizes 15 to 20 year olds?

Really?

Jim708 on July 20, 2009 at 7:02 AM

Paul is a neo nazi anti semite loon. He is an embarrassment to the party.

Terrye on July 20, 2009 at 7:13 AM

Perhaps I’m mistaken, but isn’t it routine practice for American Governors to keep a low profile, that is remain silent regarding, any foreign crisis? Other than perhaps some tame platitudes? As in the old saying, “Politics ends at the waters edge.” But perhaps you could email her. She is on line.

Loxodonta on July 20, 2009 at 1:18 AM

I think you are mistaken. Governor’s opinions about ousted leaders in non-contiguous nations are meaningless but when it comes to Canada, Mexico, and indeed Russia for Alaska; governors are very verbose concerning the flood of illegals and border security, international trade, etc.

I would have put my money on “the opposite sex” as being the thing that most energized 15 to 20 year olds.

Even Ron Paul succumbs to PDS.

Mommypundit on July 20, 2009 at 5:47 AM

No surprise. He is a complete moron. The only reason he sounds coherent at all is due to the irrational spending spree that’s been continuing throughout his terms in Congress. Of course, a crackpot like him would be saying the same thing whether the budget deficit was 10 billion or 1 trillion. He’s got the brain of a talking doll; pull his string and hear his “thoughts” on a new topic.

rcl on July 20, 2009 at 7:48 AM

I have had at least three versions of Sarah PAC on my site, and it is a sports site, no politics at all.

You talking about Paul or the filthy lying rat bastard traitor in the White House? The description fits both extremely well.

highhopes on July 20, 2009 at 7:56 AM

Worse still, he adds, Palinites are partisans:

Except I am an Independent and I am a Gov Sarah Palin supporter, there are more like me. I lean libertarian, lets face it Ron Paul has a message but not the “Presences” to win over huge chunks of the conservative base – note not Republican base. There is a growing Populist movement growing in this country and you have people like Ron Paul who are taking shots at folks with in his own party. How is that helpful to his party? The Republicans should have been organizing a better grass roots from the ground up movement the day after the Nov Election….but being career politicians all they can do is blame each other and diminish Sarah Palin’s accomplishments?

Dr Evil on July 20, 2009 at 7:56 AM

How much help will Soros give Paul in 2012?

RobCon on July 20, 2009 at 8:26 AM

Gov. Palin is stepping down from being governor of the largest state in the Union. She is the daughter of two teachers. Ron Paul is a Doctor and has been a part of the Washington scene for a while now. And he’s calling her a “Country Club Republican? Puhleeze.

I think part of the problem is that Paul has always styled himself as the maverick populist “Republican” on the fringes of the party. Palin is stealing his turf, mantle as a populist and maverick, and fringe Republican voters.

Ron “Hinky” Paul

Because that’s what 15 – 20 year old American kids are all about: the Federal Reserve.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet… but on Drudge now:

RASMUSSEN 2012 poll released at 10:30AM ET

Obama 45% Romney 45%
Obama 48% Palin 42%

!

It is looking as if every single person in Congress needs to be replaced. If Barack Obama has done anything, it is to show how out of touch and insane all the Washington DC crew is. Every one of them is clueless. Sarah is such a threat to their cushy way of life. I know they don’t get why we all are so angry and frustrated with them.

That’s not good news for Obama. Exactly 6 months after his inauguration and he’s already at below 50%. I imagine Romney is currently polling better with independents and the more moderate Dems. Personally I think either one would run Obama out of town if the election were held today.

The whole M.O.(along with destroying the GOP and ultimately aiding the Democrats) of these Rothbardian/Anarchist cranks over at Lew Rockwell is to be a buffer against the “Establishment”. I think Lew Rockwell admitted as much before.

This includes lying about certain things to advance that agenda. which Paul and Rockwell have both done alot of. These people despised Ronald Reagan and called him a “neo-con” before the Left popularized the term.

jp on July 20, 2009 at 9:41 AM

also note, Ron Paul is possibly the Most Partisian member of Congress. The only thing is he’s Partisian and uncompromising to strictly his gospel and will not compromise whatsoever to any other take on Conservatism and Libertarianism.

I think Mark Levin alluded to this in the opening pages of his book on defining Conservatism.

Though Paul should never be considered a conservative and at best is a crank Paleo-Libertarian.

OMG. An article about Ron Paul and he barely mentions Sarah in the closing paragraphs, and that merits another Palin thread.
Ridiculous.

Ron Paul…15-20 year olds…morons?…lol…Federal Reserve..
15-20 year olds…..legalize drugs…Why bother with someone with dementia?

Opppsss..I forgot Biden

Jeff from WI on July 20, 2009 at 10:18 AM

does the FFA count in his remarks?. lol

hawkman on July 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM

What the hell does appealing to 15-20 year old future voters even look like? Free candy to those who vote? A free foot long Subway sub each week for 6 months? Free education forever?

Of course, these all cost tons of money, but the 15-20 year-olds are too stupid to understand that taxpayer funded goodies aren’t actually “free”.

JaqobJackson on July 20, 2009 at 11:30 AM

I love Paul and Palin, but Paul is dead wrong to think that Sarah attracts the country club (i.e. Rockefeller) Republicans.

They can’t stand her.

She isn’t intelligent and sophisticated enough for their sensibilities.

They are still searching for someone more nuanced who can win.

They still look to Mitch McConnell as a leader.

They keep trying to sell themselves on Mitt Romney, completely ignorant of his disastrous health care reform initiatives in Massachusetts.

But Paul is right about things that Sarah needs to focus on more.

I like and respect both of them a lot.

molonlabe28 on July 20, 2009 at 11:35 AM

Heh, those quotes were so ditzy, I guessed AP was quoting Cindy McCain.

Doh.
