Most kids never finish the first year at their original institution — so why even bother?
You’re better off doing CC, growing up as a person, then deciding your next move.
Oh, and for the sake of all good and holy in this world, when you finish CC and move on to a different school, live OFF campus. Go party on campus, but sleep OFF — that is, if you value sleep.
I mean, if you don’t mind having what I had, listening to your room mate get a nice sloppy one from his Marines GF going “hoo-rah” with his schlong in her throat at 2:30, then go ahead.
The Tripoli bombing was in response to the Berlin “La Belle” disco bombing, carried out by the Libyan embassy in East Berlin along with help from the East German Stasi.
An average of 3% profit for medical insurance companies annually.
If I ran a business, any business, and made a mere 3%, I’d start looking for or considering another line of work.

I read somewhere that almost half of people are covered by non-profits and mutual companies. The idea that the insurance industry is getting rich off of their role as middleman is ludicrous.
The Gipper is looking down upon us and guiding us conservatives back on course for which he set. I believe that our days in this mighty cyclone is nearing an end.
Jindahl or Palin may be that person, but it’s too soon to tell right now. It’s certainly not Guilliani, Mitt, or Huckabee.

True but the Dem euthanasia specials are already published and it is no secret they have a massive majority, GOP could claim they saved people from terrible legislation just by itemizing all the horrific stuff in the House bill alone. Plus there is general support for health care reform but people got totally spooked after they saw the failure of the stimulus and got the huge bill to boot.

Just think Reagan got his 8 years, Then G HW Bush got 4 then GW got 8 more years. That is 20 years of the Presidency that could be argues that Reagan gave to this country.
By contrast Clinton is fading from the scene and wont have much more influence on American politics past his wife and Obama picked Biden who really is no threat to ever be president. So that means Obama is going to be a blip on the political radar.

That was his style. He’d say “here’s the problem, can we fix it?” And then say “if we can fix it, then go fix it. get back to me when it is accomplished.”
Unlike Carter who helped botch the Desert One raid by getting on the sat phone, a large cumbersome piece of equipment at the time, to ask how things were going, and agonizing on the line about possible civilian casualties, asking constantly if Charlie Beckwith could be 100% certain of no civilian casualties and such…add that to equipment failure and the end result was a lot of good people died because the leadership couldn’t get it right.
Yes, I think LBJ was known as a shrewd political manager–er micromanager–but he had quite a solid political mind and could really build coalitions and run his staff pretty well. Other than that, nope, probably no political legacy ‘cept that Great Society thing–if you can call that a legacy.
Charlie Beckwith could be 100% certain of no civilian casualties and such…add that to equipment failure and the end result was a lot of good people died because the leadership couldn’t get it right.
That was the real tipping point in the Carter Presidency. I’ve read up on some Beckwith history as well as some of the J-3 guys at the Pentagon who developed the plans for the Eagle Claw mission. Heck, I’ve even known some of the guys who went on the mission.
Even though the mission was a failure, it sure wasn’t for a lack of trying. The key developments from that mission were NVGs, the 160th SOAR and JSOC. Amongst other things…

Older women are just more fun — younger girls are “like, like — uh, like, yaaah”
blatantblue on July 18, 2009 at 11:49 PM
I have comedy central on in the backgroud. The stand-up was extolling the vitues of “dating” older women and getting some…”If she’s got kids, you might even get one of those cool lunchables out of it.”
LBJ was one of the most effective Senators of our time.
A VP, was still directed toward giving the LBJ “treatment” to Congress, and was effective to a large extent. As President, well, he tried the guns and butter route, not wanting to sacrifice anything (except American GI’s) so that his Great Society would not falter…and he wouldn’t be seen as the President who “lost” Vietnam.
His not seeking re-election was his greatest moment…
Unfortunately, that led to the far Left’s seizure of the Dem party after the Humphrey defeat.
Hey CW! What say you, about thinking, about putting together some sort of ad hoc and informal aid package for the Honduran military? Looks like they may have a communist insurgency on their hands in a few hours…Would love to know what they need and if we can help. Our folks in Palmerola have probably been tied and gagged by the Cretin in Chief…any ideas?
I could just picture Carter with one of those huge phones having all kinds of angst micromanaging the operation. I remember when Reagan was being inaugurated while the hostages were being released. It was like the whole world said ok guess we have to stop f’ing with the US now.
I’ve had the good luck of having a good lady for quite some time, but as per meeting women at school
Just don’t be a tool — be yourself, and don’t try to impress a girl. The time will be right to talk to one and it will present itself. And going to a frat party and trying to lay a drunk chick is not the type of opportunity I mean.
You can meet one in class, become acquaintances and go from there — just be a gentleman, but never give away too much info (they love the mystery) and keep the convo light and about them. And don’t over stay your welcome — end it on a good note.
Never let it end like “oh, well, I guess I better get going”
My own crackpot theory is that the Germans are trying so hard to prove how enlightened they are in order to distance themselves from their WWII history, that they have left common sense behind.
ted c: I hope I have this right, and if coldwarrior is still
on,I’ll know if my facts are correct!
When the St.Vincent shot down the Iranian airliner,
the idiot Iranians were using the airport for milita
ry use,and when the US radar painted the airliner,it
was from a F-14 still on the runway, hence, they had no
choice, beides their was Iranian speedboats, that posed
a danger,it was tense!
Joint Task Force-Bravo Soto Cano Air Base is on stand down right now. Only about 500 guys there, mostly civil affairs, civic action and engineer types…and a few trainers.
This one has to be settled by the Hondurans…with loud vocal support from the US…despite our President. if Chavez’s “Bolivarian” thugs (many already in country) start getting even more hostile or if Nicaragua and Venezuela start sending in “advisors” or protection for Zelaya, then, in normal times, we’d have a bit of an obligation to assist the Honduran military. But these are not normal times. We have a President whop appears from all evidence to be backing Chavez and Ortega, and Zelaya.
HornetSting and FontanaConservative:
We had not found a way to cure stupid, but we have been able to keep many of them employed. Look at all the liberals.

as per thread — yea, they do have a tendency I’ve found to stay on topic until 11PM and after — they meander because of jerks like me, but they eventually find themselves properly re-aligned in the morning
Vincennes…not St. Vincent. Captain Will Rodgers commanding.
The airport at Bandar Abbas was used for civil and military, and yes, there were IIAF F-14′s launced from there routinely.
The Vincennes had be hassled by Iranian gunboats for a couple days, a few with F-14 overflights at the same time.
The Iranians did not use international IFF as required, (parts problems) and the flight was to be a short hop across the Gulf, to Dubai. So the plane did not have to go to upper altitude, was in a slow and low approach over the waters where the Vincennes was located.
The folks in the ops shack onbaord got overly excited…and with the time and distance factor, really can’t blame them…if they waited to get a visual, an F-14 could have acquired, locked, loaded and fired at them before they could then react.
I have no doubts the Honduran military can handle Zelaya and his thugs what worries me are the Nicaraguans and the Venezuelans and especially Venezuelan resources/money. Do you think they can hold out without outside help?
If Zelaya, and Chavez and Ortega and Arios (?) of Costa Rica can be exposed to the international community as being the problem, we might be able to swing this thing in favor of the current legal government in Teguch.
But, so long as this Administration provides comfort t o Zelaya and ignores Chavez and his Bolivarian liberation ideas, and his thuggery, his growing connections to iran, deeper connections to Putin, and his advocacy for the violent overthrow of all non-”progressive” governments in Latin America, it is going to be one hell of a tough row to hoe.
I don’t know about Mitt being in the list of people who don’t know how to attack.
terryannonline on July 18, 2009 at 11:38 PM
If Mitt attacks on an issue it’s only due to a calculated strategy not an expression of his core beliefs. He attacked his opponents on some issues during the primary which, after the election, he flip flopped on, taking up the other side of the same issues. So during the primaries he attacked the very positions he switched to only months later.
It seems obvious that after losing the primary he went back to the drawing board, ran some new polls and focus groups, revised his platform and devised a new strategy. Presently we’re on Mitt Romney 3.0, at least, and by ’12 he will have upgraded to Mitt Romney 4.0 or higher.
That’s not leadership and that’s not how Reagan operated.
But man, that thing you said about your room mates! Was that actually true?
FontanaConservative on July 19, 2009 at 12:09 AM
One hundred percent true.
My freshman year was mostly good. I had a Filipino roomie my first year and a half. It was good until the end of my first year. I was an incredibly gracious roomate who cleaned, let him use my fridge, xbox, drove him places, did his garbage when I did mine, vacuumed his side when I did mine, and actually made his bed a couple times when he had a girl over (he was a filthy pig and any girl would be turned off).
I asked for ONE stamp one day, and he simply refused to give it to me, and gave me an attitude — things deteriorated. we had to spend the next fall together, and he got worse — blasting music and then listeing to ESPN, rap, and playing zelda at 1 AM when I was trying to sleep after a shift at the restaurant.
The next roomie I had — loved doing stuff with his girl while I was in the room. I couldn’t sleep so I just took four or five Benadryl tablets to fall asleep every night. People are the most inconsiderate, filthy, piggish, disgusting things you’ll ever meet in a college dorm.

I have comedy central on in the backgroud. The stand-up was extolling the vitues of “dating” older women and getting some…”If she’s got kids, you might even get one of those cool lunchables out of it.”

No problem. We will just leave at a disagreement. Good people can disagree :)

Unfortunately, that led to the far Left’s seizure of the Dem party after the Humphrey defeat.
coldwarrior on July 18, 2009 at 11:55 PM
Hey CW! What say you, about thinking, about putting together some sort of ad hoc and informal aid package for the Honduran military? Looks like they may have a communist insurgency on their hands in a few hours…Would love to know what they need and if we can help. Our folks in Palmerola have probably been tied and gagged by the Cretin in Chief…any ideas?
elduende on July 18, 2009 at 11:55 PM
I could just picture Carter with one of those huge phones having all kinds of angst micromanaging the operation. I remember when Reagan was being inaugurated while the hostages were being released. It was like the whole world said ok guess we have to stop f’ing with the US now.

ted c on July 18, 2009 at 11:56 PM
Why yes, I do play one!

…kind of like Obama voters.

When the St.Vincent shot down the Iranian airliner,
the idiot Iranians were using the airport for milita

was from a F-14 still on the runway, hence, they had no

a danger,it was tense!

You assume that Obama voters started with some common sense. That is doubtful–now the Germans, they did have it.
Obama voters have suspended all disbelief.

Procedures have been changed.
