Obama promises: I won’t sign any health-care bill that adds to the deficit

That’s how the Times is spinning it, but read the fine print. What he actually says is he won’t sign any bill that adds to our deficits over the next decade. The One knows this is a sinkhole in the long run even if it isn’t in the short run — which, per the CBO, it almost certainly is. No worries, though: “I don’t believe that government can or should run health care,” he assures us, ignoring the fact that he once famously said he doesn’t want to run the auto companies … a month after he forced the chairman of GM into early retirement. No wonder some prominent Democrats now want to, um, run the auto companies.
Oh, and he’s still lying about letting you keep your current insurance if you like it, oblivious to the reality of what’ll happen to private insurers forced to compete with a program backed by the Treasury Department’s printing presses. But then, as he candidly says here, “I … don’t think insurance companies should have free reign to do as they please.” That’s Obamanomics in a nutshell. Make sure to read Betsy McCaughey’s rejoinder in today’s New York Post about the difference between your current health plan, the “qualified plan” you’ll be forced to choose under ObamaCare, and the penalties you’ll pay if you prefer not to “qualify.” Should be a fun presser on Wednesday night.
Update: Looking on the bright side, at least we know now what his next bald-faced revisionist lie about his record will be. How many months or years before he treats us to this: “But let me be clear. We have never denied that health-care reform might temporarily add to our deficits.”

Isn’t it amazing how The Precedent tells such transparent lies without flinching? Does he think that people don’t know he’s lying? I have never seen anyone tell such transparent and obvious lies without flinching, at all. It’s as if he enjoys the lying as much as anything. The Precedent gets some perverse kick out of the fact that he can get on TV, say something that a five year old knows is moronic, and everyone still treats him as if he knows what he’s talking about. People need to really meditate on this aspect of the sociopath in the White House and come to an understanding of what it really means. It ain’t pretty.

The presser on Wednesday night will either be a another set-up or Obama won’t take questions because he knows the health care debacle won’t stand the scrutiny. I wonder if anyone will ask him about Claire McCaskill’s staffer flipping off peaceful health care protestors and then locking the door, closing the blinds, and hunkering down inside the office in an arrogant attempt to silence the protest. 2010 cannot come soon enough to throw the jackals out.

This man still thinks he is on the campaign trail where he can give a soundbite to a problem, give an innocuous solution and then tilt his head for applause. He peaked somewhere around St. Louis on the campaign trail and is apparently having a hard time coming to terms with the fall from grace.
sherry on July 18, 2009 at 1:05 PM
I’m getting a strong feeling that this isn’t going as smoothly and as quickly for Obama as he thought it would. It is starting to get more scrutiny since the CBO dropped its bombshell. Some of the wiser heads in the House learned from the non-stimulus. People. Don’t. Want. It.
My gut feeling? It will, like Cap-and-Tax, barely, BARELY pass the House and die in the Senate, and the Obama presidency will never recover.
Of course, I’ll add my default disclaimer: I reserve the right to be wrong about this.

“I think it will seal the final deal on the death of the GOP.
People are dealing with the real issues in life. The GOP seems entirely into ideology and out of touch with real life on this one.”
This is EXACTLY what is wrong with the United States today. People, especially on the liberal side are looking at this from nothing more than a partisan angle.
AnnInCa, something more than the demise of a poltical party is involved here – it is the demise of you as an individual with individual rights.
I pay for my own healthcare – my insurance plan is strictly a catastrophic scenario plan. I am single and i dont need anything other than that.
With ObamaCare, my plan that I decided for myself may very well be “non qualified” ! And i will either have to pay a penalty of thousands of dollars during tax time or force myself to be registered in these “qualified plans”.
Modern day liberalism is built on co-ercive mandates – Mark Levin hits the nail on the head when he says that it is wrong to call them “liberals” – these morons want to enslave you and chain you to the state. They are STATISTS.
It is surprising that liberal woman like you who shout and scream that the Government should not come between you and your doctor if you want to have an abortion, now have no problems with the Government coming between you and your doctor.
AnnInCa, you remind me of why I stopped being a lefty- you lefties NEVER could be accused of idealogical consistency.
When Obama said that “in collective salvation, lies our individual salvation” I took it for nothing more than the average Marxist rant. But this guy is turning positively tyrannical now.
My decision to move back to India seems awesome by the day. Even us Indians who are known collectivists have more freedoms in choosing our healthcare plans. I can frankly see the day when India can describe itself as much more free than America.
AnnInCA, enjoy your socialist paradise.

The easiest way to lower health care costs is to stop paying doctors and hospitals. That is what will happen under government run health insurance.
Now, if an insurance company does this, you can sue them and change insurance companies. They generally pay up after a lawsuit. When the government does it, there will be nobody to sue, and no alternative to accept.
Insurance companies try to lower the costs of health care daily. That’s what helps them stay profitable. They negotiate rates with doctors and hospitals that get to brinksmanship status all the time. Hospitals will stop accepting insurance if they don’t like the contract. Insurance companies will stop paying the claims if the hospital doesn’t play ball with their cost cutting contract.
The government will cut costs by cutting payments when costs get out of control. As a result, hospitals will shut their doors.
Insurance companies pay TRILLIONS each year in claims. This is where the hospitals get their revenue. If the government wants to take over their claims, they’ll happily let them do it.

First, look at what they’ve written. REALLY look, especially the sections about not being able to change companies except to go on Messiahcare after the bill takes effect, the provision that a change in your copay means you have to leave your insurance to go on Messiahcare, or the part about counseling the elderly every 5 years about “end of life choices.”
Decide if you think politicians, specifically congress – the least-trusted body of government – should make the kinds of decisions about your life that they are taking for themselves in this bill.
After that, if you don’t see why someone has to block this blatant intrusion into how we live our lives, then there’s really no point in continuing a discussion. You’ve given yourself over to the government and see nothing wrong with it.
The funny thing about American socialists is that, while embracing totalitarian ideals, they’ve never really lived that way, so they actually don’t know what they’re wishing for.
Conservatives, on the other hand, don’t need to live like 1950’s Soviet citizens in order to know they wouldn’t like it.
