911 Conspiracy Freaks protect Ron Paul like leftists protect Obama.

Typical dumb remark about those who support Ron Paul, lumping us all into the category of conspiracy theorists so they can dismiss us. Try and debate me on the issues sometime. Like the issues of big government that Bush espoused. That's what Ron Paul was trying to curtail. Ron Paul was right. Now you're stuck with Obama and even more big government, and czars, and national health care. But hey...you should be happy...you still have your troops in harms way!

Really? So no principle? No other human being? Just your immediate tribe? Just watch as a gang rapes and kills someone you’re not related to? How about a daughter-in-law?

Ragspierre on July 21, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Last I checked, a daughter-in-law is family. The odds of me being around someone getting gang raped are nil. And if by some miracle I was, then I'd enforce my second amendment right if I had the opportunity to do so without harm to anyone other than the thugs. That doesn't mean I'd die for that person. You're grasping at straws with your queries.

So I don’t think the US government used thermite (which was discovered in the dust) to bring down the buildings.

What a freakin dufus, there was NO thermite found in the WTC rubble...there was aluminum oxide and ferrous oxide found in the rubble, which is found in the rubble of EVERY building that burns.
People are willing to make up ANYTHING to protect Ron Paul because they are willing idiots.

Some points of views I agree with:

"The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would do whatever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. When I am deciding what I think of a U.S. military operation in some far off corner of the world, I always ask the question, would this be worth my life? If the answer is no, then I don't think it would be worth anyone else's life either."

"1) End the United States' worldwide military presence and bring American troops home; 2) Place no economic sanctions on other countries; 3) Engage in unrestricted trade with all nations; 4) Declare principled neutrality in all foreign disputes and wars; and 5) Withdraw from the United Nations. We should do this irrespective of its salutary effect on terrorism. America needs to return to a foreign policy of "peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; [but] entangling alliances with none," as Thomas Jefferson put it."

The Left used to get us into entangling alliances and the Old Right got us out (Korea, Vietnam).

Now what exactly will get Republicans elected in 2010?

Both parties spend our children's inheritance.
Both parties support the military industrial complex.
Both parties economic policies (and all their Keynesian Harvard, Yale, Wharton PhD's) got us to exactly where we are today.

This "New" Republican Party doesn't stand a chance of winning any elections unless it goes back to its Libertarian roots which does NOT include entangling alliances. If this New Republican Party would adopt fiscal responsibility, which they now speak of, but will not apply once elected, and drop the imperialistic mantra, then they'll be there to claim victory once the Dems fall flat on their face.

I just don't see that happening. Kristol and the boys won't let it happen.

As I said...good luck with that...

FedUp - Washington Formed alliances in his adminstration and sent troops abroad, as did all the early presidents including Jefferson(see Barbary Wars). Also see "Manifest Destiny" held by him(La Purchase) and Madison and quincy adams...

Hamilton wrote that address as a political attack against Jefferson who wanted to ally with France against Britain, which they thought was idiotic.

jp, you debate like a 3rd grader...

Madison also had influence in the address...but the ideas expressed were Washington's.

Naturally you didn't address the Austrian Business Cycle Theory.

I love how your New Republicanism is doing.

Good luck with that.

FedUp, you are an idiot but never the less.

Alexander Hamilton(your enema) wrote Washington's farewell speech, which I'm certain you do not know because you clearly do not have a freaking clue what Washington did as President, such as create the Nations first National Bank on the advice of Hamilton, his Treasury Secretary.

Hamilton also wrote the "Entangling ALliances" phrase as a political Attack against Jefferson because at the time they were wanting to Ally with France. Which of course you would not know because you are an idiot that worships idiots such as Paul and Lew Rockwell....all dishonest Cranks.

Alexander Hamilton(your enema) wrote Washington’s farewell speech, which I’m certain you do not know because you clearly do not have a freaking clue what Washington did as President, such as create the Nations first National Bank on the advice of Hamilton, his Treasury Secretary.

Hamilton also wrote the “Entangling ALliances” phrase as a political Attack against Jefferson because at the time they were wanting to Ally with France. Which of course you would not know because you are an idiot that worships idiots such as Paul and Lew Rockwell….all dishonest Cranks.

jp...you mean the "crank side" that predicts boom and bust cycles caused by the Federal Reserve via Austrian Business Cycle Theory? Yes...real cranky stuff there...

You still supporting ward jp? How'd that work out for the Republicans? Have the democrats really "changed" anything when it comes to foreign policy?

What did GW have to say about foreign entanglements? He warned against them. And the "GW" I'm talking about was George Washington who in his farewell address gave some good advice our modern day presidents just ignore.

Excerpt: "Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all."

Austrian Economics is not the same thing as Libertarian Chicago School of Economics that Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell, etc. come from

There are some key things there which drastically divides the two schools. Paul is on the crank side as should be expected.

Again, keep him away from foreign policy, and he’s an asset. As soon as he opens his mouth about isolationism/non-interventionism, run for the hills.

I'm in agreement here. Economics, ok. Foreign policy, not so much. Thats the part that just destroyed his candidacy.

If it helps, just think of Ron Paul as a useful idiot. He buys into the truther BS and other conspiracies, but he can be useful e.g. Audit the Fed. It's a good bill that can actually help to restrain the Fed and expose the role they've played in the creation of pas bubbles. However, it will never be signed into law.

Paul's problem is that he cannot grasp that Utopian philosophies, whether communist or capitalist, are idealistic fantasies. His willful ignorance concerning the threat of Islamic terrorism and nuclear proliferation would make him a horrible president. Peace & Love is a nice slogan to throw around if you want to get laid, but it's not an effective foreign policy in the real world.
