[...] Almost two weeks ago, we got our first hint of faith-based economics when we learned that Larry Summers’ favorite economic indicator was checking Google Trends to see how “economic depression” rated. With that kind of high-level analysis keeping Barack Obama’s chief economist busy, I’m sure he missed the latest report on consumer confidence. After rising sharply on promises of a “jolt” to the economy from Porkulus, it has now declined sharply for the second month in a row: Americans’ confidence in the economy darkened further in July as worries about job security offset any enthusiasm about the resumed stock market rally that has helped bolster retirement accounts.
Dear Dr. Summers,

Here are some more trend figures (from the Bureau of Labor Statistics) perhaps you'd care to look at.

1. 4.4% October, 2006 unemployment rate. The dreaded George Bush President. Republicans control House. Dems decry economy as worse than under Hoover's presidency.

2. 4.7% October, 2007 unemployment rate. The dreaded George Bush still President. Democrats now control both House and Senate.

3. 6.5% October, 2008 unemployment rate. Obama leads in presidential race. Democrats still control both House and Senate.

4. 9.5% June, 2009 unemployment rate. Messiah Obama now President. Claims he has created or saved $600,000 jobs. Democrats have gained filibuster proof control over House and Senate. Claim to see "green shoots" of progress.

Conclusion 1: Democrats responsible for more than doubling unemployment rate in 3 1/2 years. Conclusion 2: Policies wrong-headed. Conclusion 3: Since policies probably will not be changed (Marxist ideology trumps reality), make no large bets that unemployment won't triple 13.2%) by October, 2010.

                                     Have a nice day,

He said something demonstrably true, was attacked by feminist harpies and <strike>stood up like a man</strike>ran away like a crying baby.

Compare this graph for <a href="http://www.google.com/trends?q=Bush+failure&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0" rel="nofollow">"Bush Failure"</a> with this one for <a href="http://www.google.com/trends?q=Obama+failure&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0" rel="nofollow">"Obama Failure"</a>.

Note how the Bush graph volume increments are 2 units per line. In the Obama graph the increments are 10 units per line. The somewhat similar patterns are totally misleading. Obama searches have levelled off at numbers that GW hit only on peaks.

If Larry's right this guy's tanking big time.

I read this
And i must say i am Not shocked by the sheer
lunacy of the democrats and liberals \

I mean
If he says that because
Fewer people are searching for economic depression
on major search engines
that MUST mean the economy is turning around right now..

I mean ignoring
the 4 - 6 MILLION currently unemployed
the automaotive industry which isnt comming back
the daily plant closings due to liberals taxing the crap out of them
the estimated 2- 4 million Underemployed (meaning part time)
the 14% unemplopyment rate in some states
the 23% home forclosure rate (never mind barney franks want to do the SAME dumb ass thing that set the entire financial system on fire) in the first place..

No
you have to ignore all of that and instead
listen to all the TAX cheats liberals and democrats have hired

For if they say the economy is getting better because of a google report..

Well who are you to question their obvious genius..?

MORONS

its time to rise up
and THROW ALL THE POLITICIANS OUT..
and I do mean ALL OF THEM

The trouble with Googling: Larry Summers is an idiot, is that you get entries like "Only an idiot would disagree with the magnificently intelligent Larry Summers," or "Republican idiot challenges Larry Summers Harvard credentials," or "Larry Smith makes an idiot of himself during his summers vacation." Googling is an art. And the evidence tells us that Larry Summers does not seem to understand the art.
