Video: Obama vs Obama on stimulus

posted at 12:15 pm on July 17, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

It didn’t take long for the GOP to rip into the latest White House spin about Porkulus not being designed to stimulate the economy in the short run. The House Republican Conference produced this ad overnight and unveiled it at MS-NBC this morning, apparently hoping to reach those still outside the growing chorus of critics taking aim at the Obama administration:

Eastasia has always been at war with Oceania, Winston! Conservatives loudly argued that Porkulus wouldn’t stimulate in the short term during the debate in Congress over the bill.  Obama insisted on misrepresenting that argument as a demand to “do nothing” and claimed that the results would speak for themselves.  And so they have!  The only jobs that Obama can claim were “saved” were public-sector jobs, and even then, he’s misrepresenting what would have happened in the absence of Porkulus and its state grants.  The states would have had to cut jobs, but they would have had a wide range of choices for cutbacks; it’s highly unlikely that they would have started with teachers, police officers, and firefighters.  They would have started with bureaucrats — who belong to the SEIU for the most part, one of the Democratic Party’s most important contributors.

It’s a good ad.  Let’s see the GOP run this on a few other national networks.

As Obama stated, “No tax increase for 95% of Americans”. However, that obviously didn’t include state tax increases. Both Delaware and Pennsylvania are looking to increase their tax rates this year to balance their budgets. My question is, “Was Obama just mentioning the Federal government or are both Democratic governors not following his promises?”

Thanks to Obama’s policies, I am now one of the unemployed. 13 1/2 years and now nothing to show for it.

The company was pretty clear as to why they finally had to lay people off. There is no end in sight for this failing economy. Not only are things really bad right now, the company will continue to slide backwards for at least the next year.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I wish foresight was too for that 52% of the nation stupid enough to vote for this guy.

With any other Democrat I might be able to say, “I disagree but life goes on” but with Obama, the guy is such a disaster which most of us here at HA saw coming that I find myself questioning the wisdom of allowing anyone who voted for Obama from ever voting again.

Go Sarah!! We have got to get behind her.

VERY good video. But I disagree that they should be airing it on other networks (with the exception of CNN). The individuals who watch Fox know about the hypocrisy already, so why waste valuable money preaching to the choir? No, MSNBC is where all the…”uninformed” are (for lack of a better word)…so yeah, advertise there. If the GOP doesn’t succeed in turning any of them at least they’ll succeed in upsetting them. ;)

The best part of the ad is that it keeps hammering on Obama’s own words. There is no way that the Man-Child can deflect blame to Bush and the “economy he (Obama) inherited.” Obama OWNS the poor economic policy that he has pushed.

Here outside Washington, in liberal Reston, I’m seeing a lot of push-back on the get-a-life types. This is at the local level. At the last angry citizen’s meeting, I was amazed at the wide-spread fiscal prudence, and support for private business, shouted at local officials. A sea change, IMHO.

hawkdriver on July 17, 2009 at 1:51 PM

The new ROE has got a lot of attention in mil-blogs. One video in particular, was almost excruciating to watch for the slow weapons free call. Former FACs commenting at http://www.neptunuslex.com said they were yelling into the screen to get the bad guys. The restrictions in ROE seems to be a tad over-zealous.
That being said, I get the sense that the average American supports a relaxed ROE. The new ROE is all a “policy decision.” No lessons learned from Vietnam, that’s for sure.

For all those who are not backing the Republican party for various reasons…There is no other party alternative at this time. We conservatives have no other valid choices. A third party vote won’t get a Dem out of office. If you aren’t against what the Democrats are doing, then get ready for Socialism for a very long time. This is about being for something better (but not perfect)rather than against it for the sake of principle.
