President boldly vows: My economy-wrecking health care bill will pass this year

posted at 5:04 pm on July 17, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler. For my money, this is a moment of almost unparalleled Obama jackassery: As noted last night, the substance of the bill seems secondary to him to the pure political challenge of cramming this turd down America’s cakehole, no matter how many people are gagging on it. Never mind that no less a Democrat than Steny Hoyer says it’s time to “go back to the drawing board.” Never mind that more than 50 liberals in the House are allegedly ready to walk because the bill’s not socialist enough, even as the Blue Dogs are ready to walk because it’s too socialistic. Never mind anything. Not only does health-care reform have to pass, it has to pass this year. The legacy of Hopenchange demands nothing less.

Breaking news as I write this: POTUS and TOTUS will be holding court at 9 p.m. on Wednesday to push ObamaCare. You know he’s worried if he thinks a primetime presser is necessary. Exit question: Will Wednesday night be the debut of his inevitable “I never said health-care reform would cut costs” lie?

If ever there was a reason to empty the GOP coffers, this is it…not only to save America from a huge, disastrous mistake, but to put a stake through the heart of this vampire.
He will never recover if he is defeated on this…this is one of those epic battles that turn the tide of a war.
They have almost insurmountable odds in their favor, but we have truth on our side…now we need to expose the truth, and unveil the lies.
Whomever leads this conquest, and I mean LEAD, will be the front runner for GOP president choice.
This will expose what the dems are, just a government money grabbing machine.
With this defeat will come a change of direction…it is imperative we win…and the liberals lose.

sherry on July 17, 2009 at 5:44 PM

Whos’s going to pay the taxes for this health care monstrosity? Not Obama or his rich friends. Example: The world’s largest private wealth assets manager UBS AG (Switzerland), which contributed $543,219 to The Savior’s campaign has supplied a safe harbor for ill gotten Wall Street funds. 52,000 Americans have SECRET, tax dodging accounts at UBS in Bern and Zurich. These funds, deposited by Obama’s Wall Street cronies (and maybe even by Obama himself) will never suffer the sting of an income tax-or any other type of tax for that matter.

The rich won’t pay for health care. The poor won’t pay for health care. You know who’s left-the evil white middle class. And the health care quality will be so poor that the rich won’t even use it.

Seventy-eight percent (78%) of U.S. voters say it is at least somewhat likely that taxes will be raised on the middle class to cover the cost of health care reform. Fifty-six percent (56%) say it’s very likely.

49% Oppose Health Care Reform Plan, 46% Favor It

Forty-nine percent (49%) of U.S. voters now at least somewhat oppose the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, while 46% at least somewhat favor it, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

petefrt on July 17, 2009 at 5:46 PM

A government monopoly in healthcare is the ultimate goal.
-
This will be a tool to coerce compliance with any and all government mandates.
-
“Do what we tell you or risk losing your health care”.
-
A classic Stalinist policy.
-
It violates the first amendment (freedom to associate) and the Sherman anti-trust act (easy to dispense with).
-
More importantly, it may cause an armed revolt.
-
Politicians may find campaigning quite hazardeous.

It’s my opinion Obama is forcing health care specifically for illegals.

darwin on July 17, 2009 at 5:40 PM

It certainly appears to be a major motivation. The vast majority of American citizens are satisfied with their health coverage. So why the need to ram through a major overhaul of the system, at a cost of over a Trillion dollars, at a time when we’re already running huge deficits and clearly cannot afford it?

What do you think would happen if Obama and the Democrats told the American people that they want taxpayers to provide more free health care to illegal aliens, and that in order to accomplish that, they plan to raise most Americans’ taxes and reduce the quality of health care that Americans receive (to make things more “fair” for the illegals)? There would be massive public outrage, and the Capitol would probably be burned to the ground.

Obama and the Democrats know they can’t tell the truth about what they’re doing, which is why we’re hearing all the ludicrous and obvious lies about how the health care bill is going to lower everyone’s health care costs, give people more choice, etc. It’s also why they’re trying to ram it through so quickly, before people have the opportunity to find out what’s actually in the bill.

Now, I know you all think that marketing and acting and all that artsy-fartsy stuff is for teh gheys, but here’s the plan:

Obama: “I’m here for ya, baby.” LOL

ddrintn on July 17, 2009 at 7:13 PM

I have a history question for the class today.
What ALWAYS happens right before the revolution?
I said always and I do mean EACH AND EVERY TIME!

Blacksmith8 on July 17, 2009 at 6:51 PM

*I give up* what?

ted c on July 17, 2009 at 7:17 PM

I’m a baby boomer with great health care through my employer. This guy scares me to pieces!

scalleywag on July 17, 2009 at 5:38 PM

The boomers need to rise up! They have the most to lose in this deal! Let’s go Boomers! I don’t care who leads the charge, but Boomers are very vulnerable on this. They will be the first to lose even the Medicare benefits that current seniors enjoy. “Get used to those bad prognosis boomers. You need to be more ‘accepting of aging’” etc. etc.

JAM on July 17, 2009 at 7:19 PM

Hey, maybe one of those green jobs fixing the unicorns will be the trick.

StevefromMKE on July 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM

If somebody had fixed the damn unicorns beforehand we wouldn’t have all these pesky little things running around on the White House lawn and romping in Mookie’s garden.

Yoop on July 17, 2009 at 7:26 PM

I wonder if the networks will turn down opposing advertisements before or after this version of the Mr. Obama Show?

Baby boomers stand the most to lose acutely on this. You guys will be the guinea pigs on the rollout of this thing. Actually, it’ll be a rollback from what you already know. As a healthcare provider, adjusting to this statist system is going to be rocky–and it’s going to be when the Boomers are in the most need of care.

W never dissed the people who had a differing political viewpoint, because he knew they spoke for Americans who had a right to be part of the process.

This administration and Congressional leadership disses every American who doesn’t agree with them by failing even to hear the objections of our conservative elected representatives.

I feel like I’m no better off than the colonists in 1775. Even they had duly appointed (by Parliament) representatives in the British government–it’s just that those ministers were always either weaklings or ignored. Same as conservatives today.

rwenger43 on July 17, 2009 at 7:33 PM

I heard this today… gave me CHILLS, big time.
He sounds so, so, DICTATOR-like !!
I’ve learned of a lot of sneaky loopholes that make his proposals absolute sh*t, so when I hear him say
it WILL BE DONE, and ‘I will force Congress’
I ALSO hear some little guy with one nasty little mustache !
I have the shakes, just hearing him !
God help the USA !!

DMFD

dmann on July 17, 2009 at 7:42 PM

READERS OF HOTAIR – If a Senator from your state is up for election in 2010, please inform him or her that you will not vote for them if they vote for the HEALTH SCAM. They need to be written or called right away, before this SCAM is rammed down our throats.

yoda on July 17, 2009 at 7:45 PM

Since I’d heard his ‘address’ today, I’m now too inebriated to know what DMFD means. Seriously.
Non-ban-able help ??

NO–! You are better off. For you’ve been gifted with the history of what those colonists bravely did to fight tyranny then. They were the minority then–Brits and Tories amongst them–but they had FAITH and COURAGE.

We are currently suffering from Congressional “mis”representation. The White House has a statist liberal agenda, and Congress is slobbering to deliver it–to the people’s dismay. We can FIGHT, we can throw those bums out. Justice won’t be quick, and it won’t be easy–but justice will be done on this. This is OUR country, we are Americans–we fight–we are the New Guards of freedom and freedom is in need of some guarding tonight.

Hellloooo Blacksmith8…
What always happens right before the revolution. I haven’t particpated in any so I’m not sure. Please fill me in.
Thanks

Its time!

dmann on July 17, 2009 at 7:52 PM

McCain had far superior ideas to reforming healthcare: eliminate barriers to buying policies across state lines, tax employer health benefits and provide an offsetting tax credit and allow people to buy their own policies – which are far more portable and permanent.

And costs a hell of a lot less than ObamaCare, without descending into socialism and without a government option to keep competitors “honest.”

To the 52% of Americans who elected this clown: you f&$ng blew it. Thanks for nothing.
