Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on July 17, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Barack Obama insisted yesterday that Americans who like their current health insurance plan would not have to change it under ObamaCare. As always, you can tell when Obama is about to tell a whopper when he begins with:
“Let me be exactly clear about what health care reform means to you,” the president told residents of the Garden State. “First of all, if you’ve got health insurance, you like your doctors, you like your plan, you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan. Nobody is talking about taking that away from you.”
Apparently, Obama doesn’t keep up with his own expiration dates. Jake Tapper does, however:
At a rally in Holmdel, New Jersey, today, President Obama continued making a promise about health care reform that he has acknowledged isn’t literally true. …
But last month, as the president acknowledged during a press conference, he doesn’t literally mean that you are guaranteed to be able to keep your health care plan, and your doctor, if and when health care reform passes.
“When I say ‘If you have your plan and you like it,… or you have a doctor and you like your doctor, that you don’t have to change plans,’” the president said after we asked him about this, “what I’m saying is the government is not going to make you change plans under health reform.”
In fact, as Tapper reports, Obama had softened the claim since he got challenged on this point on June 23rd. He had made that claim much less definitive, to a “no one want to make you change,” rather than a declarative “you can keep your plan.”
Looks like TOTUS-R is wreaking revenge for its brother’s destruction by displaying the older version of ObamaSpeak rather than the newer, lower-commitment double-talk. How long before TOTUS-R has an “accident”?
Addendum: Normally I’d put a link to Chris Muir’s Day by Day site here, but today I want to do more than that. Chris has a fundraising drive to keep his excellent cartoon alive. Be sure to drop a few dollars in his collection to keep one of the Rightosphere’s most talented warriors in the fight!

Pffft….I think it has become perfectly clear over the last six months that anything Obama says should be taken with a heavy dose of salt as he reverses himself so often that the White House staff have developed a bad case of whiplash.

Emmanuel and Axelrod are running the country while they send the show pony out on the motivational speaking tour. Obama doesn’t have a clue but they have found that his magical speaking skills can mesmerize the devoted while they stay in D.C. threatening and knee-capping to get things done. Quite a unique set-up for operating the world’s superpower.

Hey, under Obamacare, patients will get to keep a lot of things the same! They will get to keep the same bad hip, the same bad knee, the same bad heart, the same bad teeth, the same bad gallbladder, and the same bad pain! The more things CHANGE, the more they STAY THE SAME!

OT:, but here is something that PRESIDENT Obama said to the NAACP. This is from an article that is now on CNN’s website.
“Even as we inherit extraordinary progress that cannot be denied; even as we marvel at the courage and determination of so many plain folks — we know that too many barriers still remain,” he said.

Seriously. People mention overreach. We may be witnessing it. I’m no optimist by nature, but once a decade I allow myself a little “hope.” It would be a lovely thing to see Obama’s Presidency fail in his first 6 months.

The real shame is that between the fading O and idiot Joe, you need to be tracking obamateurisms by the hour.
I have to agree with Daniel Henniger at WSJ, exactly what is the point of all this incessant speech-making?
Obama is a one-trick pony that has been circling the same track for so long, that he can’t keep from stepping in his own sh!t.
singlemalt_18 on July 17, 2009 at 8:32 AM
Seriously indeed, I would love to see him crash and burn right out of the gate too, but in your heart of hearts you know it isnt going to happen. The once great republic has been betrayed by politicians and the media and the vast majority of it’s citizens are just to damned self-centered and narcissistic to even notice let alone get up off their fat a$$e$, turn off American Idol and do anything.

It is the victim mentality that fuels the race industry and affinity groups like the NAACP. They lose influence if suddenly there are no victims. I suspect the race industry will now focus more on the “pattern of societal discrimination” and blame all the inner-city problems on whitey. As if the gang-banger criminal who has multiple bastards from multiple women is excused from personal responsibility. As if the welfare culture predominate in the inner-city is an excuse not to look to get off welfare since it is now a part of the “black experience.”

Identifying “Obama Lie” Markers:
Obama is a prolific, although not very effective, liar.
I recall noticing even during the campaign that often when he was launching a big lie, he would phrase it, “Now nobody is saying…(fill in exactly what he knows the truth that he’s concealing to be…).
I have noticed David Axelrod often uses the same device.
Everytime I hear Obama say, “Now nobody is saying…” I perk up. It’s invariably a lie.
Maybe it would be a useful exercise to compile the “Obama Guide to Spotting the Lie.”

It doesnt matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that Ill convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection
But Ive said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it dont matter who you are
If Im doing my job then its your resolve that breaks
Because the hook brings you back
I aint tellin you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely
There is something amiss
I am being insincere
In fact I dont mean any of this
Still my confession draws you near
To confuse the issue I refer
To familiar heroes from long ago
No matter how much peter loved her
What made the pan refuse to grow
Was that the hook brings you back
I aint tellin you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely
Suck it in suck it in suck it in
If youre rin tin tin or anne boleyn
Make a desperate move or else youll win
And then begin
To see
What youre doing to me this mtv is not for free
Its so pc its killing me
So desperately I sing to thee
Of love
Sure but also rage and hate and pain and fear of self
And I cant keep these feelings on the shelf
Ive tried well no in fact I lied
Could be financial suicide but Ive got too much pride inside
To hide or slide
Ill do as Ill decide and let it ride until Ive died
And only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little tunes
Of hip three minute ditties
I wanna bust all your balloons
I wanna burn all of your cities
To the ground Ive found
I will not mess around
Unless I play then hey
I will go on all day hear what I say
I have a prayer to pray
Thats really all this was
And when Im feeling stuck and need a buck
I dont rely on luck because…
The hook brings you back
I aint tellin you no lie
The hook…
On that you can rely

A little Texas humor.
A Department of Water Resources representative stops at a Texas ranch and talks with an old rancher.
He tells the rancher, I need to inspect your ranch for your water allocation.
The old rancher says, ‘Okay, but don’t go in that field over there.’
The Water representative says, ‘Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me. See this card? This card means I am allowed to go WHEREVER I WISH on any agricultural land. No questions asked or answered. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?’
The old rancher nods politely and goes about his chores.
Later, the old rancher hears loud screams and spies the Water Rep running for his life and close behind is the rancher’s bull. The bull is gaining with every step. The Rep is clearly terrified, so the old rancher immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs…..
Your card! Show him your card!’

My boss said as soon as obamacare kicks in he’s cutting us all off our insurance and he’s laughing his butt off about it.
Best of all, he said, if any of us calls obama a liar he’ll fire us for racism.
And he’s right. Racism is a serious issue in our country, and a wise latina once deigned to tell me that it is important I treat my overlords with due deference.
jeff_from_mpls on July 17, 2009 at 9:18 AM
A job is the best health care system known to man.
Obama has it all backwards.
Start with jobs promotion (lower taxes, incentives for new technologies, etc.) to get the economy moving and the health insurance problem takes care of itself. People can then afford to buy their own from the current systems.
These may need tweaking (to rein in abuses) but we don’t need Dr. Nanny Von State strangling us all.
Barry is simply a bass-ackwards moron.
profitsbeard on July 17, 2009 at 9:22 AM
Actually, my boss said as soon as obamacare kicks in he’s not only cutting the whole company off our insurance, he’s going to buy a really expensive BMW and he told us that every time we walk by it in the parking lot to thank president obama, and my boss is absolutely laughing his butt off about it.
And then my boss started needling all the fat people in the office with stuff like “you’re gonna be dead before you’re 60″ and stuff like that.
So we’re all pretty pumped up about the new obamacare.

My husband’s entire career was with DOD civil service. They had a pretty good retirement plan. If you worked for thirty years and were at least 55 your retirement would be 80% of the three highest pay years. Then it dawned on the geniuses in D.C. that Social Security was in serious trouble so they dumped all the civil service employees into it. You can still get the retirement plan but you have to pay extra for it. The same thing will happen to the insurance. The minute it gets into trouble they will pull all the employees who’s payroll they control will be put into the national system to keep it afloat. That will stink because we pay half of our insurance but it’s good.
