New ad: Dems hit Palin, Crist for … not serving out their full terms

posted at 4:30 pm on July 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

I don’t know where to begin. For starters, the ad’s called “Quitters” — but Crist hasn’t quit. His term runs out in 2011, around the time he’ll be sworn in as senator if he wins the Florida election. But never mind that. The Democrats running this spot less than a year after The One was elected is kind of like Republicans running an ad claiming that being governor of California isn’t relevant presidential experience circa 1981. Not only did Obama quit his Senate seat mid-term to assume the presidency, he was famously absent for scores of floor votes during the few years he did serve because he was too busy chasing his own ambition. And all that after declaring in 2004, shortly before he was sworn in as a senator, that the only way he could run for president in 2008 is if he started campaigning immediately — which he essentially proceeded to do. (See the second clip below for a refresher.) Which state’s voters got the bigger shaft — Alaska’s, via a governor who stepped aside so that someone could take over the position full time, or Illinois’s, via a guy who couldn’t be bothered to show up to work for weeks at a time?

Who cares what the treasonous dems think?

progressoverpeace on July 17, 2009 at 4:30 PM

Lol. I got so used to ripping on the GOPs weak ass ads that I forgot the dems could produce stuff even more pathetic and hypocritical.

Those who live in glass houses………..

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on July 17, 2009 at 4:33 PM

Hey, Crist. How’s that stimulus working for you now? Aren’t Obama and his friends peachy?

BuckeyeSam on July 17, 2009 at 4:33 PM

How many governors did Obama tap to be in his cabinet?

Resign to join White House = good

Resign = bad

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on July 17, 2009 at 4:34 PM

So Palin’s resignation was not her political death?

milemarker2020 on July 17, 2009 at 4:34 PM

This is the most worthless ad ever. It is so bad it is almost laughable.

portlandon on July 17, 2009 at 4:34 PM

Pathetic and desperate.

the_nile on July 17, 2009 at 4:35 PM

And Obama served, what, about 2 hours in the Senate before NOT resigning to run for President for 2 years on our dime, being paid for a job he wasn’t doing?

wildcat84 on July 17, 2009 at 4:36 PM

How about Robert KKK Byrd & Teddy Kennedy? Their health keeps them from showing up to vote. Resign already!

portlandon on July 17, 2009 at 4:36 PM

In addition to Obama, I wonder what the Secretary of State has to say about this?

Ronnie on July 17, 2009 at 4:37 PM

We run an ad showing how our government is going bankrupt…they run an ad because someone they hate quit being a governor.
A real disconnect.
This will pander to their base…but the independents will laugh at them.

right2bright on July 17, 2009 at 4:37 PM

….but not on smoking, hehe

thebrokenrattle on July 17, 2009 at 4:37 PM

This ad is so ridiculous it deserves to be highlighted by any honest broadcaster. Of course this translates just to Fox News.

So Palin’s resignation was not her political death?

milemarker2020 on July 17, 2009 at 4:34 PM

Obviously not. They wouldn’t put so much effort and energy into attacking her if they weren’t scared sh-tless about the threat she poses to them in general and the Obama Regime in particular.

They doth protest too much.

What I want to happen is that our side quit letting the left wing state controlled media tell us who our candidates should and should not be. None of this “advice” is coming from people who’s goal is to elect MORE Republicans, after all…

wildcat84 on July 17, 2009 at 4:39 PM

Pathetic ad.

jencab on July 17, 2009 at 4:40 PM

Obama says he is a believer in knowing what he is doing! Wonder when that will start. Oh, wait he does know what he is doing.

fourdeucer on July 17, 2009 at 4:40 PM

Comments over there at the video source are being moderated (yeah, you can do that, but for some reason, I’ve seen mostly Democrats moderate comments, while Republicans seem to leave commenting open). I know my comment will never show up, just like on HuffPo.

Snowed In on July 17, 2009 at 4:40 PM

Can’t view the vid right now, but this sounds really dumb. Guess they don’t really expect to get much impact, just trying to reinforce the “quitter” meme to try to take some of the sting out of the Cuda attacks.

And why are they attacking one of the few GOP govs who went along on the stimulus ride and recently defended it? Again, dumb.

cs89 on July 17, 2009 at 4:41 PM

Didn’t Obama and Hillary (and McCain for that matter) all take a solemn oath to serve their constituents (Illinois, New York, Arizona) when they were sworn in as Senators? How do you square that oath with spending all of your time in Iowa, New Hampshire, etc for personal ambition?

chromium on July 17, 2009 at 4:41 PM

portlandon on July 17, 2009 at 4:36 PM

Yes. The ones who most need to resign wont. What will Dems say if Hillary resigns as Sec. of State so she can run against an unpopular Obummer in 2012?

Palin and Crist are sooo dishonorable and stooopid because, see, if’n you already have a cushy gobernment job you are not supposed to give it up to run for another that way if’n you loose you git to keep your first one, you see now!

Only thing is a Governor actually has work to do unlike a Scumbag Senator like MCCain or Obama. A Governor has to govern and a Scumbag Senator just has to vote Present or Not at all!

AllAH please post an Audio of the Pinnochio Presidente speaking before the NAACP. You’ve got to hear the Halfrican revert to his best black voice so as to impress upon the NAACP Dembat slaves his street creds or something. It is hillarious, disengenuous and any black man in his right mind should be highly offended at the naked pandering and condescension, but alas I guess as always the 95% Dem voting block Love it!

dhunter on July 17, 2009 at 4:46 PM

Alright … I’m confused.

Palin is, in their own words stupid, politically dead and *shudder* … divisive.
Crist is a RINO and friendly to the dems big government communist plans.

Why are they spending time and money on them again?

darwin on July 17, 2009 at 4:46 PM

I guess to a Dem anyone that is willing to sacrifice a cozy political job and a feeding place at the public trough to become a street fighter must cause great wonder.

Of all the people about whom the Dems could make an attack ad, Sarah Palin should not occupy the top of the list if she was a washed up quitter.

Yet she continues to be the focus of their anger, their attacks, and their hit pieces on a weekly basis.

How can they explain this with any intellectual honesty?

VibrioCocci on July 17, 2009 at 4:49 PM

SouthernGent on July 17, 2009 at 4:49 PM

Democrats aren’t interested in logic. Their only motivation is hatred.

JohnJ on July 17, 2009 at 4:50 PM

This is hilarious! Sarah Palin hasn’t said that she’s running for anything in 2012, and Crist is essentially doing what every other politician does – spending at least half of his time campaigning for one job while doing a half-a$$ed job at the one he already has. How is that any different from what Obama did again?

They really want to go after Palin; the others are just cover.

ProfessorMiao on July 17, 2009 at 4:51 PM

Typical lefty dems, what a bunch of hypocrites! Lets see, so it’s ok that Obambi became a Senator not with the intention of actually carrying out his senatorial duties but instead to do nothing but vote “present” and all of his time campaigning to become president!

This only proves the illogical thinking in a lefty liberals mind, it’s BAD and you’re a quitter if you leave a position to take another position where your skills and experience will do the most good but it’s GOOD and ok to take a position as a Senator in order to use the office to get elected president with absolutely NO intention of doing a damn thing but campaign and vote present while in the position people voted you into in order to do THE PEOPLE’S WORK!

Absurdity thy name is liberal dem!

stenwin77 on July 17, 2009 at 4:58 PM

I talked to a few libs..I’m not braggin’ I’m complaining.

Anyway, they are really worried about the way this is working out. All the programs, all the debt and those pesky people who insist on keeping their own property — these are real worries. ONE OF THEM ACTUALLY SAID THAT Governor Palin could become the apex for some radical right backlash that will be worse if a major program fails or if the US goes bankrupt. They are beginning see some slight chance of that. But it is affectionate, like your son buying you a Ferrari on his part time job.

And the rest you can guess…They are hoping the public knows (believes) that The One was our only way out and even if we go bankrupt it is the fault of (drumroll)….now where is the guy here who says Booooooossshhhhh?
